Massive amount of pressure on the Dawkers over here - I feel a choke coming on :thumbsu: ;)

With respect, I don't think that is going to happen. Freo has improved considerably since they last met Richmond, partcularly in the midfield with Mundy and Barlow back in form and Fyfe now back in the side. Richmond have some fantastic talent and is a great run and carry side, but I feel that our defense (which is ranked in the top 2), forward press (which is ranked number 1) and contested ball pressure will be too much for Richmond. Stranger thinks have happened though.....

I think your defence will get beaten this time but your forward line will probably win out. Both sides are very different but it also doesn't look like it's going to be that wet, something that completely turned the last game in Freo's favour due to our lack of experience. Looking forward to it that's for sure, gonna be a big test for both teams and I honestly couldn't tip a clear winner even though you'd probably back freo as favourites.

I want this win badly...
A shit & wet day last time and Pav hitting a golden patch in the 4th was what started our 6 weeks of crap.

If Batchelor is fit I would certainly get him in to help Rance with Pav... need to cut infront of him and intercept some marks, even if he plays as a 7th down back.
Pavlich & Mayne are their only regular multiple goalkickers... control them and we should be able to control their score and then it boils down to if we can break the Ross Lyon defensive shackles and score heavily enough ourselves.

FWIW, we need to have some kind of insurance for big Ivan when he needs a rest. McGuane rucking lead to the dogs winning it out of the center when they made there push. Add to that we play at Patterson and that Ivan will most definetely need a rest through the game, the tiges could do worse than to have a Browne competing at the bounces when Ivan is off...its imperative we dont yeild any ground in the ruck, in this game because they will hurt us big time and they aint the doggies..

Before any of you start attacking over Mini M, he has played 2 outstanding games in the VFL, been BOG in both of them, and White for me had an appalling game. If we are truly going to be a professional side, we must reward performance and discard mediocrity.

They were saying Griff had a medial on AW, so I'm assuming he's gone (but this wouldn't be the first time they got something wrong).

I'm also dropping White. Think we need more height against Freo, and I don't think we have room for White, King, and Nahas in the same side.

I'm also worried about the second ruck issue. Don't think we can have Post or McGuane going a spare parts job given the strength of the Freo ruck division. As such, I'm making a pretty ballsy call on this one.....and I'm bringing Derickx back in against my better judgement. Brain is telling me Browne, but I think Browne lacks the ability to cover ground that Derickx has, and being a WA boy he may be better suited there.

funny thing is he wasnt in the best last week, according to the knob who does that job in the report...but according to peejay who was there and watching the game, should have been since he was pretty much the best for Coburg...go figure....i am with you dude, the kid has gone back to Coburg, after copping the tap on the shoulder and dropped from the 1s and made every effort to show that he aint going to lay down and die and worked his arse off...

No argument, but who else have we got that is ruck man who can be a decent second ruck?

We will be facing Griffins and most likely Clarke. McGuane was serviceable against the Dogs, but these two will monster him. This means getting a real ruck, but who have we got?

Graham - failed to many times, and I've given up

Derickx - Struggled in his two goes and most likely facing delisting

Browne - Barely got out of the Coburg twos this year

Don't like any of the choices, but with Ty out, if Clarke (or god forbid Sandilands) come in we will need a second ruck

This guy is working hard to improve his game and you know you will get 110% effort from him. I would throw the dice with Browne. And that is coming from someone who was shaking his head each time Browne was in the 1s. The other 2 are not up to it when it comes to going the extra yard..IMO

I actually like Browne, and would play him without question if it was in Melbourne. Is his tank any better though? Last year they used to have to wheel the cardiac unit out to him at three quarter time. This is probably the only reason I wouldn't be playing him over there.

This is the thing, his tank doesnt have to be that much better. All he needs to do is compete when Ivan is resting off the ground. Yesterday Dimma had Ivan off the ground and McGuane a the center bounces and we were reamed out of the center...Browne can at least square the ledger there and sit on the bench when Ivan has had his rest..
When we last had Browne in the 1s, he was back up for Gus. Do you see the difference?

Disagree with just one part of this. We need our three man bench for mid rotations. Putting a ruck on there robs us of the ability to properly rest our mids. Any second ruck these days IMO needs to either be working up forward or down back. If Browne plays, it will be as a forward to subs for Maric when he goes off for a prima.

Appalling? You dont need to get 30 disp, 4 goals and 25 tackles to do your team job. His job on Murphy was very good. Murph had 8 more touches but his influence setting up from the defense was nullified. Some have gone him over that 1 bad disposal, but apart from that he was at 92%, add that to his 11 pressure acts, 3 assists and 7 score involvements it was a handy days work for a bottom tier player.

We also need his pace at Subi.

there is no way ****ing known that Whitey will not play in the last 3 games, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

browne gets chucked in the burger's 2s so he ran ruck a full game and always does well only a matter of time till spud graham gets delisted and he can ruck full time in the burgers and work his way up, he always puts in his best when he plays.

agree on both points... his role and the need for his pace. I'm also of the school of thought that thinks the combination White, King, Nahas and Edwards is extremely hard to contain in the forward 50.. especially as most of our forward entries are bombs that get brought to ground. Each of them have learnt to capitalise on this and clearly have a 'defensive pressure' vibe to keep the ball in there.
