Changes v Freo Anchors

Yep but McPharlin is out, no need for a defensive job and the best form of defence is attack if we have a forward who can kick goals.
But your wanting him dropped on the basis of his form as a forward but he played as a defender today. taylor had little impact so a win to Otten IMO. We could do that because there was no match up for him down back.

How will Freo set up and will we need a 3rd tall defender? If so - he plays for mine.

No way will we drop Jenkins, Im not sure what game alot of people were watching but Jenkins is a key structure player and played a much bigger part in todays win than what people are giving him credit for. I was sitting behind the crows goal every quarter ( we swapped seats during each quarter ) and he draws defenders to every contest which is a must otherwise they will just drop off and play there own game. His kicking is suspect but will improve with experience, time in the SANFL will do him nothing.

As for the changes I think Thompson for Kerridge purely because Thompson fitness currently isn't up to a game on Patersons. Hes lacking confidence at the moment and has become a " nothing " player this year meaning he will either kick it without looking usually to an opposition player, or he will handpass it to a player that's under more pressure than what he is. Hes a champion and must be forced to rest until hes fully fit again. It appears he doesn't want to but its about the team and at the moment hes not contributing. Other than that don't fix whats not broken, the team played well together and if it wasn't for Geelongs efficiency we would of won by more. Very even performance across the board.

Harry Taylor didn't do much except blatantly scrag Otten. Taylor is capable of tearing the game apart, but Andy made him accountable and kicked two goals ( and a shocking miss) from 15 touches. No way should we drop him.

Happy to give JJ a rest, or leave him in. He's mentally shot. He's leading to deep pockets, not jumping at the ball with any consistency, and his goal kicking has gone to shit. I wish he'd bloody kick through the ball - I swear he used to. At the same time, he's doing okay for a guy with his level of experience in a freaking hard role, and McKernan is even less consistent.

Thompson needs a rest for heaven's sake!

Mackay started WOEFULLY but he started to take the game on in the last half. Looked a bit more like last year's Mackay.

Porps had his worst game for a month or so but still did some clever things. As crap as he's been, there is always an argument for giving Porps and Vince, two blokes with genuine class, a bit more leeway than others might get.

Out: Thompson
In: Kerridge (I think he definitely needed a spell but he's hit some good form again, so should be cherry ripe)

I want him dropped because I'd rather play a forward up forward. If there's no 3rd tall role he's dropped, he's too slow especially at Pattersons.

Who do you want Otten to tag up forward next week?

Grigg has to start on the ground.
Need to be more specific.

Pattersons.

Let's not get excited by our win, smell a miracle finals berth brewing and rush Callinan, McKernan and Petrenko back in.

What the heck did Otten do wrong? As for Jenkins thats wishful thinking.

The question isn't what did Otten do wrong, it's do we have any better options outside of the team?

I firmly believe our season is shot, finals won't happen with any conviction, so we start getting ready for next year.

Jenkins out. Rest won't hurt him, and he's going to be vital next year, but we know that already. McKernan to come in his place.

Porps out. Has played half a dozen good quarters the entire year. Hopefully gets back to form next year, but, again, he's a known quantity. Lewis Johnston comes in so we can see if he's worth persisting with. Alternatively, Otten goes out.

Thommo out - clearly injured, not worth sending him out there every week. He has nothing to prove. Kerridge comes in.

That'd be it for this week.

Michael Johnson
I reckon Johnson will run Otten ragged, too quick.

The other issue is what if the opposition has also got a gun half back? Do we play two defensive forwards? No doubt it worked today but it's not a long term solution. We have to try LJ or delist him at years end.

Most delayed changes thread this season!

Out THommo In Kerridge. Reckon this could be a real blessing in disguise. We know thommo is getting smashed crossing the street by grannies in walking frames. Bring in the guy with VB's tank and see how we go then with our running power stretching oppositions mids.

Possibly McKernan or Luke Thompson depending or not if freo go tall. Dunno if Mckernan demands to be able to come straight back in and Thompson is the next most in form tall. LJ maybe.

Freo can't go tall. Pav is still suspended, Kepler and Griffin have ACLs and Sandi may miss again. Mayne and a resting ruck is it.

Out: Jenkins (Omit), Thompson (Inj)
In: Johnston, Kerridge

We desperately need someone who can kick straight next week and Johnston is that guy, we were very lucky that Jenkins horrific kicking didn't cost us the game, LJ has gone into the ruck with some success in the SANFL so he at least knows how to ruck, he's short at 190 but he doesn't really need to win too many taps since he won't be rucking a whole lot, only to give Sauce a spell here and there.

The young guys proved they can do it without Thommo this week and he's obviously injured so give him a week or two off.
