Id prefer to have someone who can defend 1 on 1...agree Kelly goes ASAP IMO, and I'd still have Hartigan ahead of Keath as a kpd

Keath has been our best defender, including the smalls (I’m not including Milera as he’s been used up the ground quite a lot), by the length of the Flemington straight so far this season.

Would be top 5 in the B&F.

Hartigan is absolutely horrendous, and having 3 KPDs with 0 attacking bones in their body, AND Kelly, in the side makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Hartigan and Kelly out. Fogarty and Sholl in. Hell I’d take Otten and Sholl. Reassess it all once Brown is available.

Just a thought, Cey was a defender in his early days before big bodied midfielders became vogue. Can we slot CEY in defense and drop Kelly. gives us somebody who can use the ball plus wont be pushed off the contest like Dmac and Gibbs.

No offence to you mate - but can we please stop trying to shoehorn players into roles that they aren't either familiar, or suitable for?

We recruit defenders; play them in defence. We recruit mids; play them in midfield roles. We recruit forwards; play them as forwards.

It's so bloody frustrating that this Club has made it normal for underperforming players to be shuffled into other roles, instead of giving new opportunities to promising youngsters who actually fit the role we require.

I am on exactly the same page as you.

I still havent recovered from Murphy nor forgiven running down the wing and failing to correctly bounce the ball, FFS I havent seen a player in good conditions do that this year. Whats probably more unforgivable though is that his technique of bouncing the ball looks awful. The kid made some terrible clangers last Saturday.

I'm torn on Murphy.

He made some shocking mistakes, but he was also one of the ONLY players we had who was actually trying to make shit happen.

Sure, it didn't come off for him, and he looked stupid, but at least he was having a red hot crack.

If he is a defender, as has been suggested, then I'd love to see us play him in the bloody role that he is suited to.

Particularly as our small defenders are almost exclusively attacking ones.

We need defensive pressure down there.

People are harsh on Hartigan.

We saw last week how much Talia was exposed by shit umpiring and shit efforts by our midfield - Hartigan isn't close to Talia's level, but if the midfield does its job, he's a very solid 1v1 defender.

The issue we have is having both Kelly and Hartigan in the side; both aren't good with ball in hand. I'd stick with Hartigan over Kelly, as he has the ability/pace to play on smalls and talls. Keath does as well, so I'd be aiming to make Keath the 3rd defender, with the loose man license (if possible, with these ****ed new rules), and bring in another defender who is also a good user of the ball.

If Murphy does get dropped and we play him as a small forward in the SANFL we would be the dumbest coaching panel in the country.

He’s dropped because he’s been replaced. Play him as a defender in the SANFL to let him build some form there and then he gives an option for defence.

Hartigan still looks a bit panicky.

I thought over time he'd add some composure and confidence but sadly he hasn't.

Who's improved since 2017? Hartigan is one who should have. Across the group I can't think of anyone (except obviously kids like Milera).

Everyone has either stagnated or gone backwards.

Seeds improved last year

I'm not sure why Otten isn't in the side, reads the play better than most, good decision maker...granted slow but a very good footballer cruelled by injury

You haven't been watching the SANFL this season?
I've been a big Otten supporter ever since we drafted and I'm convinced he would have been a legitimate A grader bar for his tragic injuries but his SANFL form has been very ordinary this season and against the Bays he was miles off it.

I am still concerned about bringing Gibbs back in just after one week
The same if Jenkins is finally omitted
Need to prove your selection worth
1 week just doesn’t cut it

Greenwood really screamed select me
He has been building

I don’t know why people are mentioning Otten he has been poor

It's pissing in the wind mate - the AFC has made it clear repeatedly that we aren't a performance based organisation, and we don't reward performance with selection; or punish non-performance with omission.

Gibbs was clearly an easy scape goat last week; Pyke's comments were bullshit, there hasn't been an actual change of policy, it's just window dressing.

Why are the radio boys pre-game for the North have saying Jenkins is dropped? Just stupid ignorant commentary as usual ... Or have I missed something during the day?

Rucci said so in the Hun article put up around noon so I'd suggest it would be close to the mark or he's going to need a flannel to wipe the egg off his face.

Adelaide coach Don Pyke swings the selection axe by dropping forward-ruckman Josh Jenkins

Crows coach Don Pyke is expected to work an inexperienced ruck pairing after dropping key forward-ruckman Josh Jenkins from the Easter Sunday clash with Gold Coast at Adelaide Oval.
With lead ruckman Sam Jacobs nursing his right knee after corrective surgery on Wednesday, this leaves Pyke to work Reilly O’Brien and Elliott Himmelberg against the Suns.

They have a collective AFL games tally of five matches — four from O’Brien, who is playing his third consecutive match since Jacobs was sidelined; and one from Himmelberg.

We've already got enough glaciers in our defense who don't do much with the ball.

I'd prefer we went with only 2 talls this week against Wright, Burgess and Luko, to get some more speed into defense.

Laird Talia Murphy
Smith Talia/Keath Milera
Gibbs Sloane Rat
Knight Tex Lynch
Eddie Himmelberg Stengle
ROB Matt Brad

McKay Greenwood Gaucc Dylan
