No surprise to see Pyke's love child Murphy still in when he should be dropped to the SANFL defense and replaced by Stengle.

Also why in earth do we have Hartigan, Keath and Talia in the side when the Suns have a short forward line??

I mean I get not playing underdone players, and Gooch certainly was that.

Not sure he is now though

We seem unable to drop players out of the side indefinitely, or replace them with young blood.

I'm trying to think of a crows player who was in the 22 that has been dropped permanently to make way for a younger recruit in the last decade. (I'm sure there are some)

We give them one or two games a year when someone is injured, then straight back out again to keep players like McKay and Douglas in for "team balance"
Imagine being a young player knowing that regardless what you do in the sanfl you won't be picked. What incentive is there for that player to give his all? What incentive is there also for the select 22 golden boys to give their all when they know they wont be dropped? Jenkins will be back next week. The person who did his contract will make sure of it.

If we brought in Gallucci he would have played forward pocket and have 7 touches, 1 behind and 1 tackle.

I mean he's clearly a midfielder/wing in the SANFL but that's the reality of the situation.
He's still not quite there fitness wise for that role I guess.

I hope Keath will develop into a really strong, best-15 player for us. At this time, he reads the play well and is a strong mark, but after marking just stands and looks. And thinks. Then looks some more, like honey slowly threatening to drip off a spoon.
Meanwhile oppo players are moving into strong defensive positions. Keath is stagnant, with the ball in his hands.
SaltPeter posted he made AFL Team of the Week. Is that right? :oops:o_O
I'd love to see Keath get the ball and take off, evade, fend, anything to play on, move forward and get the ball moving much more quickly. Laird and Smithers are being heavily attended to and Keath has got to create some run out of defence.

You seem to be overlooking that the directive from the coaches has been to slow down

Bringing him into the squad suggests that Jones was going to stay and perhaps they’re going like for like. But you’d think Gooch would get first crack but perhaps he’s already coming in.
Neither of them did sadly

So who do they leave out of the SANFL team tomorrow as precaution.

Clearly they want game time into Gallucci, Jenkins will certainly play in the 2s so that leaves Poholke and Stengle.

I'd like Stengle to play, guess Poholke sits out.

How does Fog not get to replace JJ?
2 reasons.

He's been playing in defence for a bizarre reason.

And Himmelberg is more like for like and in better form.

Great observation mate - backed up by some of Peter J 's posts on the lack of turnover in our starting side.

Looking forward to seeing how Harry goes.

Happy to see Greenwood get a run and hope he changes things in the middle

Gibbs ehh the demotion you have when you are not having a demotion

Hopefully Chayce has a quick recovery, a couple of refresher runs in the SANFL and then back in
I find I agree with a lot you say
Maybe cos as a woman I also have Grey hairs. Regardless of gender
Gibbs = Clayton
Let’s cheers to that

I'm just glad Jenkins is out. He is the laziest footballer I have seen in crows colours.

Gallucci, Stengle and Fogarty should be in our 22 ... But I'm grateful for small mercies at this stage.

Pretty much since he took over he hasn't really given the pink slip to anyone major who hadn't fallen over the cliff completely (Thompson/VB).
14 players from our 2015 team line up on Sunday, which would be 18 if Pyke had the team he wanted at his disposal without injuries.

The only real changes are Doedee, Milera, Seedsman, Greenwood and Murphy at this point and a lot of those were forced due to player departures.

Keath has been our best defender, including the smalls (I’m not including Milera as he’s been used up the ground quite a lot), by the length of the Flemington straight so far this season.

Would be top 5 in the B&F.

Hartigan is absolutely horrendous, and having 3 KPDs with 0 attacking bones in their body, AND Kelly, in the side makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Hartigan and Kelly out. Fogarty and Sholl in. Hell I’d take Otten and Sholl. Reassess it all once Brown is available.
Good to see someone who sees things clearly and as they are . Hartigan is an absolute spud .

Overall Keath has been very good and with the right players around him his he would flourish as the 2nd tall defender who can also use intercept skills .
We should have a back 7 rotation of Talia , Keath , Smith , Milera , Wilson and Laird with a link up player like Gibbs .

Talia is on lockdown , Keath as 2nd tall , Smith and Milera playing intercept and rebound , Laird as the mopper , Wilson as the floater , Gibbs link up .

This unlocks and utilizes all players best skill sets and gives us genuine back half balance , creativity , drive and most importantly excellent disposal coming out It also allows Milera and Smith to be attacking from half back by generating run , breaking the lines and having the ability to have ball delivered quickly into our forward line . Something that has been non existent the last season and a half . One of Milera , Smith or Wilson can also push through the wing into attacking half with coverage by Gibbs or like player covering when we would like to shift gears . All of these players have the ability to kick goals from within 60 with a couple of steps and use of foot skills . Again something we just do not have at the minute .

The most glaring issues with the team makeup is lack of kicking skills and leg speed across the lines .... when compounded it renders us very slow , somewhat impotent and extremely vulnerable on the counter .

Please let us know when you have sorted out your feelings
Thanks
Gooch for CEY next week.

I dont like all of MCrouch CEY and Greenwood in the same team.

Liking the E-Him inclusion... but that's a Slowdown-esque team in terms of speed!
What's weird to me is Pyke wants a fast team, but then won't select one because he's also obsessed with experience and consistency. It's truly puzzling to see a coach handicap himself like that.

I also imagine he's got a directive from the board that bottoming out isn't acceptable, so he's going with the squad that got him to the dance once before, but theres a few of them well and truly letting him down at this point.

How good is it to have Greenwood back
I’m sure Himmelberg will also be ecstatic for his selection
I don’t expect either to tear a new one first up
Let’s just get behind those two at least
