I'm not sure why Otten isn't in the side, reads the play better than most, good decision maker...granted slow but a very good footballer cruelled by injury

The only thing that I’ve heard from posters at the SANFL games is that he’s completely cooked.

The coaches have an idea of how their best structure looks, and they're very stubborn with it. We very rarely change our structure, regardless of our opponent. Essentially, if you're in the twos and the position you're pigeonholed in already has a player in the AFL side then you may as well pack it in until they get an injury. Anything outside of structure and you don't "fit".

Hyper-structured sides look excellent when things are clicking. However, the flipside is an inability to change when it doesn't work. Adelaide 2016-18 and Fremantle 2013-15 are two of the most rigid sides I've seen in terms of structure and roles, who fell over at the crunch when things didn't work.

We're a hyper-structured, over-coached football side.

The truth is that the club is going nowhere with this coaching group. The fact they can't identify and fix the real problems is negligent.

They have made changes to the exact issues raised, Greenwood for CP and Jenkins out cause he has been out of form.

Have they fixed their forward transition? Will see Sunday.

What's weird to me is Pyke wants a fast team, but then won't select one because he's also obsessed with experience and consistency. It's truly puzzling to see a coach handicap himself like that.

I also imagine he's got a directive from the board that bottoming out isn't acceptable, so he's going with the squad that got him to the dance once before, but theres a few of them well and truly letting him down at this point.

Thats where his judgement is extremely suspect. The current 22 he is glued too will get him sacked.

Greenwood in - no brainer.
Gibbs in - probs deserved another week in seconds, but no better game to come back than eddies 300.
Himmel in - deserves a another shot, looked ok in his first game. JJ probs thought he was a bit untouchable being second ruck.
Would have liked to see Stengle for Murphy.
Interesting we are going in to game less than 5 games experience in our total ruck dptment.

If he's an emergency then he's ready to go. He just hasn't been selected.

I dont like all of MCrouch CEY and Greenwood in the same team.

No coach with a clue would select all 3 of those players in the same side. Pyke has completely lost his way and as a result, we are unbalanced literally everywhere on the field.

Too tall / too slow / not enough dare and creativity in defense. Hartigan and Kelly need to come out for Sholl and one of Fogarty / Otten.

Too slow in the midfield. CEY needs to come out for one of Gallucci, Jones or McHenry.

An inability to lock the ball in the forward line, or to kick enough goals. Murphy needs to come out for one of Stengle, Gallucci, Jones or McHenry.

Knight, Mackay and Atkins are all on notice too.

It is a shitshow people and it may get a lot uglier before it gets any better.

Imagine being a young player knowing that regardless what you do in the sanfl you won't be picked. What incentive is there for that player to give his all? What incentive is there also for the select 22 golden boys to give their all when they know they wont be dropped? Jenkins will be back next week. The person who did his contract will make sure of it.

Absolutely agree.

We picked him basically to send a message to Gibbs, who by the looks was coming straight back in regardless.

It was a gift game, given to a player who deserved more than that, and he'd know it. We used to do similar things with Lyons and CEY, but during those times we were competitive-to-contending and it was somewhat effective.

Look at this Norf side tonight who beat us last week. Getting done by 10 goals.

We were insipidly woeful.

Look at the lack of tackle pressure against the Dons.

Unfortunately there is one key element to beating us and even teams that dont naturally do it bring it against us.

No, he’s average up there and is much better behind the ball but Dmac must play, so he gets sent to a role that he’s poor at. Hopefully he doesn’t play there.
