The best thing about this loss is we backed ourselves into a corner with our posturing omission of Gibbs. "We're not going to put up with that," we said, clearly assuming we'd win, Bryce would tear up the SANFL and they'd look like geniuses.

Well coaches. Plenty of senior players putting their hand up to be dropped after that. Do we have the balls to drop someone who's played more than 100 games for the club? Or do we back the boys in to respond? Show me what you got.

It will be the soft option.

It’s interesting to read how bad our players are after a loss and how amazing they are after a great win.
Because they play well when we win and not when we lose ??

Fun Facts with Grotto.

Suns are averaging 10 goals a game in 2019

Crows are averaging 9.25 goals a game in 2019.
I'm liking these, it's almost time for a thread.

You know what, I would bring Jacobs back in this week..... And leave ROB at FF. At least he can take a contested mark or at very least bring the ball to ground.

He will chase harder than the others too
Some very good tackles by ROB last night. Also he was pissed with himself when he got caught htb. That shows he cares which is a good thing. Couple of unlucky decisions against him too.

Other way round.

Sauce at FF and ROB primary Ruck. Drop Jenkins.

Sauce is not a bad forward. ROB cant kick goals.

Would also play Stengle for Jones.

Fog for Harto. Spend equal time forward and back. Swingman. Harto is woefull

Greenwood for CEY. CEY was one of the better.players. at least he did his job. But Greenwood has to come in and we cant have all.of MCrouch, CEY and Greenwood in the team.

Scholl for Kelly. Kelly has been poor and Scholl doing ok in the Reserves.

If Scholl is AFL capable do it.

Perhaps we should move Laird to a wing or on ball to freshen him up.

We need to mix lots of thing up.
Was thinking this myself. I would run him between wing, HF and mid before dropping. Laird is a special exception given his contribution in the past three years. I wouldn’t accommodate any of the other pricks on the list in this way.

Okay, changes... yikes

I'm so scared the narrative this week will be, let's back in the boys. Well you know what, it's ****ing Gold Coast, we should beat them*, we should play kids to expose them to this level.

*except i rate Dew and I reckon this is a supreme danger game for us right now. They will smell blood and we are headless chooks.

OUT: Jenkins (shit), Murphy (shit), Jones (inj), CEY (shit), Mackay (shit), Kelly (shit)
IN: Himmelberg, Stengle, McHenry, Greenwood, Sholl, Gallucci

To the people who say don't throw the baby out with the bathwater, I say: we drank all the bathwater, so we might as well throw the baby out too.

What will actually happen

OUT: RO'B, CEY
IN: Jacobs, Gibbs
*we'll back in our boys*

This is a week for the coaches to send a message to the playing group, and this is also the week for the fans to send a message to the coaches - "**** off with your slow play bullshit, it doesn't work, we look like a ****ing retiree's home out there"

Greenwood comes in too I reckon, but they will be the 3 changes.

knight was made to look better in 17 because of the players around him. he still never tore a game apart and his contributions were minimal.

a tagger is usually a player not good enough for another position. I'm comfortable with him doing this as a permanent role but it means we've given up on him becoming more than a 'c' player.

Back in our boys!

I'd laught if it wasn't true.

Poholke proved once and for all last night that he isn’t an AFL player, and is unlikely to ever be. Decision making is among the worst I’ve seen.

Murphy was horrid, and needs to be dropped for someone with more class / poise. There was a missed tackle and a botched bounce that were both completely unacceptable.

Jenkins was a disgrace and cannot possibly be retained for another week.

Tex and Betts actually did a few nice things each, in a game where the supply to them was a new level of deplorable. Keep both.

Persisting with the quartet of Keath, Talia, Hartigan and Kelly down back is absolutely ridiculous - you can’t have 4 of your back 6 with 0 skill or creativity. Keath is performing admirably, the rest are puke atm. Drop one. Now.

CEY wasnt anywhere near our worst, but he can’t co-exist with other slow mids at this level. It just doesn’t work.

I don’t care how many touches he had, Laird is awful right now. He’s 1 more of those away from being Gibbsed back to the SANFL.

Being a kid, you’d probably give Jones a spell after that concussion. Ditto McHenry who was concussed in the SANFL. No risks required.

Gibbs gets one more week in the SANFL to hammer home that what he has been dishing up is not acceptable. No point in letting him skunk around against the Suns.

Jacobs gets one more week to ice the knee and to somehow convince everyone that we’re missing his 10 disposals, 2 marks, and 30 odd hitouts to nobody.

Otten is not the answer for a team that looks horrendously slow and stagnant.

My changes for the Suns game..

Out: Jenkins, Poholke, Murphy, Hartigan, Jones, CEY

In: Fogarty (replaces Jenkins), Greenwood (replaces CEY and can also float forward), Stengle (replaces Jones), Gallucci (replaces Murphy), Davis (replaces Poholke), Sholl (we go smaller and more creative in defense so Hartigan comes out)

Gibbs, McHenry, Jones, Jacobs all in the mix for the Saints game the week after.

It’s a sad state of affairs when I’m making 6 changes and Mackay isn’t one of them. Tough to see us making the 8 from here.

Agree
It’s ROB’s first game at this level for a couple of years
He can mark. I thought his field kicking was okay too
He did a few repeat tackle efforts as well
He deserves a run of games
That free kick awarded to Brown was rubbish umpiring

Ok - I’ve watched both our afl and sanfl games so far this year. Every single one of the below changes, along with an instruction to move the ball quicker, would make our side immediately better:

Out In
Hartigan. Fog
Kelly. Sholl
Murphy. Stengle
Knight. McHenry
Jones (Inj). Gooch
Mackay. Hamill
CEY. Gibbs
Poholke. Greenwood

Wilson also deserves a shot in the AFl side after a few solid efforts.

Sholl for Kelly is so freaking obvious it hurts.

Maybe if we played Poholke in the midfield he might actually show a bit....

Also, I'm watching Brad Crouch play and i reckon in his head, he's screaming "I'm finally ****ing fit to play, what the **** are the rest of you doing?! This was our time you ****ing numbskulls!"
