This is only half for next week, but looking into the future we have 5 "best 22" players to come back in the relatively near future.

Seedsman comes in for Mackay.
Gallucci for Knight.
Brown for Kelly
Greenwood for Poholke
Gibbs (in form) for CEY.

We look structurally and personnel wise MUCH better like that. You then add Stengle for Murphy and there's 6 without trying. You've also got Harto, Jenkins and a couple others to tip out. The first 5 alone transform the side.

This is a year to maximize whatever we have as it adds to our draft value.

How could you forget Douglas or Jacobs? They've done a lot for this club.

I'd love to see us drop Murph and Jenkins and bring in Greenwood and Stengle. Play Sloane and Greenwood deep forward at stages as they are probably our best marking targets. Would love to see Lachy Scholl get a gig on the half back and push Milera into the middle too.

None of this would happen though.
I love the idea of Sloane playing more up forward, him and Greenwood would give us something a bit different. Also agree that Betts should almost never have to fly for any marks. Lynch needs some time in the twos aswell as Jenkins, two of the softest blokes when the pressure is on

B: Himmelberg, Talia, Knight
HB: Smith, Keath, Sholl
C: Gibbs, Sloane, Laird
HF: Gallucci, Fogarty, Stengle
F: Betts, Walker, Greenwood
R: ROB, Brouch, Milera
I: Mackay, Mrouch, Atkins, Lynch
I actually dont mind the idea of playing the Berg back but they should start doing it in the ressies and swap the Fog out there. At least Fog can kick straight.

Right now, any selection changes we make are effectively rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic. The problem is not the personnel on the field. The problem is the gameplan that they are supposed to be executing.

We're getting smashed in the clearances and contested ball, so the ball is going straight into the opposition's forward line. We have no method whatsoever for bringing the ball out of defence, and transitioning it to the forward line. Occasionally we get a fast break, but we've got nothing else when that doesn't happen. As a result, the ball is spending roughly 80% of the time in the opposition's forward half.

I don't see a lack of effort by our players. What I see is a lack of method - and the root of that problem lies within the coaches' box. Until we fix the "method problem", it won't matter who goes out and who comes in, the end result will be the same.

Contested ball and tackle numbers are largely effort based.

We've been OK in contested ball until last night when we were obliterated. That's with CEY doing a semi decent job on Cunnington in the first half.

Wilson is too slow?
He'd beat CEY in a canter and if he kicked as well as he did yesterday he'd be a huge upgrade on CEY. If we took the trouble to rookie Pat Wilson at his age and experience it's high time we found out if he's up to the next level because surely CEY has had enough time to show if he's got what it takes. At best CEY will only ever be a depth AFL player.
Yes , some accurate and penetrating field kicking would give us the room we need to free up a Milera or Smith so lets find out if it helps .
Stengle and Gallucci for leg speed , chase and x-factor would be great as well

How could you forget those two superstars of the afl

Yeah we really ****ed up getting Greenwood for nothing. Same with Keath who you’ve bagged.

As for Galluci, early days, if he makes it will you acknowledge his ability or will you go down the Doedee path and call him a hack?

Why is this obvious troll still posting on our board? Get a load of him revelling in how shit we are. I'll give you the hot tip mate, our shitfulness has less to do with our list and more to do with our ****ing dreadful coaching and selection.

You know there is a whole thread discussing our list and the reasons for it. Your come back to discussing the quality of Greenwood and Galluci was to bring up the quality of our list. Greenwood is a quality player and we got him from nowhere, same with Keath. One who doesn’t have it on for Ogilvie for not drafting someone he knows would acknowledge that, but we know where you are coming from so your bring up poxy posts about the state of our list.

As for your Martin comment, guess what? We haven’t had the same low picks Richmond had so why even bring that up? In fact we have Gibbs at 30 who is a no 1 and now Jones at 9 who were top 10 picks, but let’s blame Ogilvie for not drafting a Martin.

You know what else about Richmond? They haven’t lost 5 picks, they haven’t lost players entering their prime and they can attract players. But hey let’s blame Ogilvie.

Yeah no shit captain obvious, it's gonna be hard to win games when you're missing 45% of your 22 from injury. Yet we still won 12 games and played some halfway decent football. We've regressed massively in the space of 1 pre-season, we went from having one of the highest DE percentages last year to barely being able to hit the side of a barn from 20m, our contest work has been some of the best in the league for two years and now we couldn't even contest a lolly from a baby.

Did our footballers suddenly and miraculously lose all footballing ability overnight? Or did our happy go lucky 'just getting the fun back' pre-season leave them completely unprepared for the afl season itself? I know which one makes more sense.

Seems obvious Fog isn’t coming in anytime soon. I guess they’re trying to get as many backline games into him so maybe he’s can step in at the end of the year if he progresses to fill that void.

It really isn’t about who we bring in. Pykey said it, they’re gonna be up late and losing sleep, so their trying to fix the game plan. Personally I’m glad we lost on Sat because we weren’t playing a brand that can win regularly. This week and the next few weeks will be much more interesting than the previous four. I’m excited to see if Pykey can coach us into finals and be a threat.
