Trying to be realistic with these changes. As much as I'd love for us to make 7-8 changes, it's not going to happen.

Gibbs is going to come straight back in. I don't think he was a class above in the SANFL but he wasn't awful. Other senior players need a spell.

Defence needs serious, immediate changes. We cannot play both Hartigan and Kelly in the same defence. Both need to go but I'm going to be realistic and say only one should go this week. So Hartigan is gone.

Jenkins needs to be dropped. It's his turn for a spell. He has been disgusting this season.

All of Murphy, Knight, CEY, Mackay and Poholke aren't good enough. But I can't see us getting rid of all five of them. Mackay has to go at an absolute minimum. From there I think we are far too slow if we are planning to play CEY, Poholke and Greenwood in the same team. Poholke seemed lost when he probably should have been playing forward so I would drop him and keep CEY. I'd then rotate Greenwood and CEY both through the forward line. We absolutely should not under any circumstances rest Sloane or Brad forward as much as we did.

From there we need to play the other guys in their proper positions. Murphy needs to be trailed in the backlines. Why did Knight get most of his possessions in the back half of the ground? He is not a defender or half back. Play Murphy back there, and Knight as a proper defensive forward. We don't need 8 defensive forwards. Just one and surround them with goal kickers.

No more ****ing around with young blokes. Bring them in. Sholl is dominating in the SANFL. He's skinny but who gives a ****! Get him in. Gallucci. Get him in. Greenwood should have been there THIS week.

Out: Jones (concussion), Hartigan, Jenkins, Mackay, Poholke
In: Gibbs, Sholl, Himmelberg, Gallucci, Greenwood

Play these blokes in their proper positions. Don't leave Gallucci in a forward graveyard.

B Murphy - Talia - Kelly
HB Laird - Keath - Smith
C Milera - Sloane - Gallucci
HF Greenwood - Walker - Lynch
F Betts - Himmelberg - Knight
R O'Brien - B. Crouch - M. Crouch

I Atkins - Gibbs - Ellis-Yolmen - Sholl

The next set of changes needs to be

Out: Ellis-Yolmen, Knight, Murphy, Kelly, O'Brien, Lynch, Laird, Atkins - last four depending on form
In: Davis, Stengle, Fogarty, Hunter, McHenry, Jones, Brown, Seedsman - last four when back from injury

We have 7-10 players in our side right now that I would class as not AFL standard and we need to spend the next 3 rounds getting them out of the side. Three get dropped this week (plus Jenkins for 4 unforced changes). CEY, Murphy and Kelly next week. Knight goes in 2 weeks, with O'Brien swapped for Hunter to try him out.

They won’t do it but I’ve no doubt they could commence transition without compromising the season and bottoming out

Stengle Himmelberg Betts
Lynch Walker McHenry
Atkins Sloane Milera
Laird Keith Smith
Hartigan Talia Sholl
Jacobs Crouch Crouch
Gallucci Greenwood Gibbs Davis

Inj Jones Seed Brown

Won’t win a flag this year, but it’s time to plan ahead, and this would keep us competitive

Oops major edit - Milera should still get a game !

Yeah and I think we can understand that even in a rebuild we can't just go and drop 10 players in one go, but we can transition them into the side over the next few weeks.

After watching the SANFL match again it would be hard not to argue for both Greenwood and Wilson coming in along with Stengle and Himmelberg.

FOG, Gooch and Davis were also very good.

Hugh - liked him in the centre but much better at HF. Easily replaces Jones

Wilson - he was impressive and I would like to see him in the centre with 1 x Crouch and Gibbs. He goes in hard, is a brute and that leg can clear lines and he was hitting targets on the weekend. Have him replace Kelly with Sloane to HB if required, not Gibbs.

Stengle for Murphy - obvious

Himmelberg for JJ - the thing with Himmelberg is that he runs across the full forward half of the ground and is always in front presenting.

I would bring in Sholl, Gibbs and Davis on top of that for Mackay, CEY and Poholke

Yep - Couldn’t quite find a spot for Fog, looked a bit too heavy, but as you say, over the coming weeks room just has to be made.

Hamill is good too, which together with Sholl, led me to thinking Smith would be a good trade option

Agree make the changes no one knows how we will go its about development

Like all teams that look to rebuild we will go through plenty of pain so extremly unlikely we stay competitive

But thats ok we will get to see if we need an absolute total clean out of players and try and draft better ir just top up with smarter decisions

We finished 12th last year and we are heading the same way this year uf we finish 16th what will ut matter

Jenkins out. And not just of the team, but of the club, the league, he’ll even the damn country!

Not sure if I’ve witnessed a worse 8 quarters of football in my life, and if you take the last 40 mins out of the Swans game, you could say he has been putrid all season!

Assuming that Jones will be an out and McHenry also doesn’t come up, I’d go:-

Outs:-
Jones (concussion)
Mackay
Kelly
Murphy
Hartigan

Ins:-
Stengle
Gibbs
Fogarty
Davis
Greenwood

FB:- Knight Talia Fogarty
HB:- Smith Keath Sloane
C:- Lynch Greenwood Milera
HF:- Davis Walker Gibbs
FF:- Betts Jenkins Stengle
1R:- O’Brien Crouch Laird
Int:- Crouch Atkins Poholke Ellis-Yolman

I don't mind that, we need to see who is capable and if it means a bottom out, it just needs to be done

Let's be honest...the AFC loves mediocrity, as such the changes this week will be minimal. Personally I think Greenwood for Jones, Jacobs for O'Brien and potentially Wilson for Murphy. Hardly sets the world on fire does it. I would also think about Gibbs for Atkins and Fogarty for Jenkins....but the likelihood that we swing the axe like that is so small, it might as well be our premiership window.

Jenkins and Walker can’t both play this week, surely.

And since Tex is the captain, sorry Josh...

If Fog doesn’t come in this weekend that will be the last straw for a lot of supporters. Having him playing down back in the reserves having bags of goals kicked on him every week is an act of football criminality. They are ****ing that kid up at a rate of knots, and all the other things they’ve ****ed up in the last 18 months, this is right up there.

Is Jenkins the first player in the history of the game who has never performed in a final, to be given a five year contract? Asking for a friend.

People miss goals, and thats a part of footy, but for me Jenkins 2 key misses on the weekend just show how out of form he really is!

1st quarter, 20m out, set shot from almost directly in front.
4th quarter, 3 meters out, snap shot that is actually harder to miss then kick.

With this in mind it just makes the 12 point losing margin was this weekend even more sour.

DROP THIS MAN!

Kick them and we still lose by 2.

No poop Sherlock, but if he kicks them and we also don't pull the metaphorical handbrake up on any scrap of momentum we had mustered.

That 4th quarter miss may as well have been the coffin's last nail on the game!
You're having a lend of yourself. The only reason we were even remotely close to being in the game was North's inaccuracy. They deserved to win that game by 50+.

Of course they deserved to win, hell they deserved to win by 15 goals IMO, that was one of our worst performances by a Crows team in my memory!!

But that doesn't change the fact that goaling there puts us less then 2 goals back with 18 mins to go!

The problem with goaling is that the ball goes back to the centre, which in this game meant it went straight back into North's forward line.

Had the Sloane, Jenkins x 2 and Jones missus been true we probably win.

Harsh on Jones as that was his last act in the game due to concussion.

Yes North can argue the same thing, they should have won by 10 to 15 goals.

But we also won the 1998 GF on the back of Norths poor goal kicking.and us taking our chances.

I'll take that problem every day of the week over the alternative!
In any case, his misses weren't an example of him being "out of form" - they were an example of lairising, and murdering the ball because he wasn't paying enough attention to what he was doing.
