What trust? If they had any they might move the ball quickly to a 1 on 1 up the field instead of waiting for some non-existent option to permeate. Or they would've lead into space and trust that their team mate will pass it to them with any sort of urgency.

And Yet JJ who had a Defender on him most of the Night station in a Forward Line that received crap ball if any, Was equal in most and better in some of the key stats, Than a run with midfielder.
We should be realistic about who replaces who.
I don’t really look at stats when I can see with my eyes.
Jenkins is mobile he has so many attributes but he is showing absolutely nothing
Nothing
Absolutely nothing
The opposition may as well consider not wasting a defender on him
He can stuff things up all by himself that is how bad he is playing

I know a few want JJ out, But don't forget JJ does and has changed the flow of a game towards the Crows several times when he goes into the Middle. So if we replace him a Like for Like would be the min requirement not a Player who would do less.
Himmelberg is not the answer his SANFL form does not warrant a call-up, and his ruck work makes JJ look like AA.
Only player change re JJ would be playing 2 rucks ROB and Jacobs, we will lose some foot speed, and defensive pressure.
Our Problems is on the Half back and Midfield lines, Any Forward in the comp would be struggling with the ball our current forwards are getting.
Yes they need a shake-up but first, let's get more than 36 inside 50 at better than 50% scoring rate.

Eyes can be deceiving especially when watching the TV, it does not show the times JJ is Free and if they do manage to see him the passes to him go over his head or to the defender side of him.
JJ is mobile and has changed the flow of the game a few time when moving into the ruck,
Yes, he needs a rocket, but he not the worse player in the Forward Line.
And regardless what we think no opposition coach worth his salt is not going to put his best or 2nd best defender on JJ.

It wouldn't have made a difference. He has been shit all year.

Maybe if our much-vaunted Halfback and Midfield/wing line could get some decent ball into our forward line thing might be different.
It always amazes me that if the Forward are not getting the ball in there area and when they do it a crowded forward line due to slow ball movement, we always seem to blame the forwards.
Yes JJ, Walker Lynch and Eddie have played crap this year, but have a close look at the ball the getting and the speed it coming into the forward line. Even Lynch who is getting the ball is looking slow on his disposal,
Our Problem is not so much the forwards but it getting the good ball to them. and that the biggest area we need to fix.

JJ always comes back better after being dropped.

That time is now.

He is one guy that responds well from such treatment.

Perfect.

More importantly re Murphy. 3 x I50 tackles for the game as a team. I can live with him being a pressure forward and goals being secondary...just.

We really can’t afford to be carrying him any longer

CEY is not good enough to play AFL. The fact he is is a reflection on us not being good enough.
Cam actually did alright in his stopping role against Cunnington, particularly early.

The issue with having a "tagger" like that is losing an avenue to attack.

No I think you find he responds better after a rocket but he is getting shit ball, Can only go on the Geelong and Hawks game for the missed leads, because I was there, but how many times did they miss his lead I was total pissed at the missed opportunity and miss open leads, How many times did they put the ball on his head against 2 defenders or when one on one put to the advantage of the defender.
They are not instinct and giving JJ and Walker the quick ball in,
Yes JJ and walker are playing shit but I don't think any Forward would do better with type of ball they are getting.

Should be playing back pocket.

Laird is basically playing that now and not his usual self.

Yea he needs to kick Goals, create Goals or put some defensive pressure on, he not doing any.

There are so many changes that need to happen that we can’t possibly do them all in one week. We have three fundamental issues at the moment:
1. A chip chip game plan rather than quick ball movement
2. Guys in the team who are not AFL standard (for me that’s Murphy, Kelly, Hartigan, CEY and Poholke)
3. Guys in the team who are or have been AFL standard but are horribly out of form (Laird, Jj, Tex, Lynch etc).

For this week we need to make items #1 and #2 the priority. And solving item #2 will also help solve item #1. Having Kelly, Hartigan, Keath and Talia in the one defence - all slow ball users and average decision makers - has to be one of the dumbest structural moves ever.

My changes for this week as against each of these would be:
1. Instruct fast ball movement long to the any contest that is 50:50 or put it boundary side if it’s an outnumber to get it it of bounds down the field. Hopefully there are also some 50:50’s we win and create fast play
2. Out: Murphy, Kelly, Hartigan (and Jones if concusses); In: Stengle, Greenwood, sholl and Otten (atleast he is afl standard and a good decision maker)
3. For this week trust that the changes to issues #1 and #2 help get the players out of form into some form

I agree re TV broadcast v live at ground
Ideally it would be good to have the benefit of both

However it is not often that I express strongly about a player on this board as I have done with JJ
He is completely out of form
I don’t rate his ruck work that highly either
It is not a reason to keep him in

Of our talls I would say he is the worst performer. Tex has a football brain that contributes with goal assists

Jenkins needs to be dropped

He had the most ball directed to him out of all our forwards and blew every chance he got.

He is out of form.

That missed check side from point blank is a kick from a guy begging for a stint in the magoos to get some touch.

Having calmed down I would have to agree.

Our HB boys are looking slow and hesitant and it needs a shake up. Milera to the middle and either Wilson or Hugh. The thing with Wilson is that having him grab it through the middle can launch a deep attack quickly with his leg.

Smith and Laird are well down and it's killing us as is the absence of Brown which is why Sholl would be a smart inclusion to replace Kelly

Firstly he need to show that in the SANFL, Hamill playing that role and Going OK.
My left field fix to free up Liard more is too swap Hartigan for Otten, who has a happy knack of finding time for a slow runner. he also one of the best user of the ball.
This will allow Liard, Smith and Milera to play off him,
At this time we have 3 slow ball movers in defence, all Playing 85% plus game time, in Talia, Hartigan and Kelly,
Suppose cannot blame Hartigan for slow movement on SAT he only did it 3 times, (4 disposals for the Game)

When's the last time we've made more than 3 unforced changes? Would love for it to happen but we'd be $1.01 to make 2-3 max.

Having said that. Jenkins and Hartigan need to go at the very least.

I doubt there’s many here expecting anything more than 2, let alone 3 unforced changes. It’s just not our way.

He getting the ball dump on his head with 2 defenders, or over the top forcing him to turn, and have a good look at the times the ball is going to the defender side. Yes his kicking was shit but let fix up the delivery higher up the ground
If we are going to 4 Changes or even 3 Changes then I hope its with players higher up the park.

There is little doubt that bringing Hartigan in as the 3rd tall was not the right option. None of Talia, Keath or Hartigan are realistically good 3rd tall options. We need to pick 2 of the 3, which is increasingly being shown to be Talia and Keath. Otten was essentially kept on the list as a 3rd tall type, this is what he’s on the list for and our other options are basically rookies in their 1st year.
