Do we risk 2 weeks by fighting it?
Looks like it

The teenager’s high bump on Jack Hayes was rated as intentional conduct with high contact and low impact.

The base sanction was two games, but Fogarty can accept a one-match ban with an early guilty plea

Could probably challenge the intentional but I havent seen footage. The other 2 sections are unchallengable imo

You could tell he was frustrated out there. Gave away a 25 near goal for abusing umpire, now suspended as well.

If I was in his close support network I’d be in his ear to get a trade out of here ASAP
Probably explains why you are not in any players networks ;)

The thing is we have got some options to change things up and create some freshness.

Changes like:

Himmelberg
Greenwood
Stengle
Galluci
Sholl

For:
Jenkins
Jones
Murphy
Mackay
Hartigan

But we know it’s not going to happen which is why we are in the position we are, a conservative regimented coach.

Can we request Dusty Martin's appeal panel...

It'll be quite amusing to see what happens this week.

If he doesn't make significant changes, then he's made a liar of himself in the space of a week.
Yep

And if he talks about maintaining trust in the players and backing them in to respond and turn things around...

Hello?

How about the bloke who came 4th in our B&F who was dumped after three games?

I'm not sure there's much point shuffling around players unlikely to be AFL standard.

I'd only consider Wilson after we bring in known talents like Greenwood, Gallucci and several others
Absolutely right

Can't wait to get Wilson back at Sturt. Outstanding SANFL player, but limited AFL player.

Hope we don't go down this Cicollela, Sudjai Cook, Brodie Atkinson path

I to are very Dissatisfied in what they are trying to do with Fogarty,
He was Recruited to play a Major Role in the clubs Future. He should have been playing
In the A's from Day One . Whether in form or out of form. The club has carried other players
During their Career.I am quiet sure if he was in the side from day one, He would be that far Advanced
Than where he is now. This Crap about Recruiting Good Draft Choices and then stick them in the 2's
And wait for them to prove they can play.. Trust the Recruiter and Trust the Player
End of Rant

It absolutely is terrible. The fact they want to play him and can't indicates as such.

We only operate with three tall forwards, and potentially that is too many. Of that, there is only two of them Fogarty can replace and both of them are > 600k and leadership group. Simply put, there is no spot for him up forward no matter how he performs, and won't be for another 2 seasons. By then Fogarty could easily be a ruined husk of a player in the SANFL. Prospects are a ticking time bomb after all, and you need to strike as quickly as possible (especially whilst we have a set up to carry him) to make sure they do develop.

It is very much take as a defender, or seek a trade. There is no other ground for him right now because there is no forward line spot for him.

No he doesn't need to bide his time. He needed to be in the squad at the start of the season, because the only place you are going to develop into an AFL calibre player is by playing at that level. SANFL won't teach you shit after a point of time that Fog would have been very close to that as a forward already (in a poor set up which would have made it even worse).

He has no business being a defender, but that's the hole we dug for ourselves when we stupidly resigned Lynch, because we took away the only path left for Fogarty to be a forward, without relying on an injury or dumping a large contract into the reserves.

Edit: It's worth noting - I have no issue with Lynch per se. He's a good player. I have an issue with prioritising Lynch over Fogarty because Fogarty has the level to be much more then just a good player.

Problem is that Lynch was good in our 2017 game plan but we can’t persist with that as it’s now old hat. Lynch is the one that’s not improving now, so he needs to go and let Fogarty in.

What was one area we got smashed in on the weekend?

Yeah but let’s get cute with Greenwood by keeping him in the sanfl.

His game on the weekend showed he was clearly fit enough.

No doubt he was good, and potentially overvalued from it. That said, the moment we had to change structure, he should have been a casualty seeing the experimental part of the 4-tall structure was Lynch.

One of those ruthless things the top clubs do.

I love the idea of Sloane playing more up forward, him and Greenwood would give us something a bit different. Also agree that Betts should almost never have to fly for any marks. Lynch needs some time in the twos aswell as Jenkins, two of the softest blokes when the pressure is on

Not specifically directed at you mate, but we've had this really strange approach creep into selection and positioning over the last year or two.

We're constantly moving players into different positions, which they aren't specifically suited for, or weaken us in other areas, because we refuse to select players for those positions.

I'd really like to see us pick forwards to play forwards, mids to play middle, and backs to play backs; not consistently shuffling players around and trying to shoehorn players into position that they aren't suitable for.

If we want to drop Jenkins, bring in Himmelberg or Fog. When we dropped Gibbs and Seedsman, why didn't we bring in Scholl or Wilson; midfielders will decent speed or footskills?

Right now, any selection changes we make are effectively rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic. The problem is not the personnel on the field. The problem is the gameplan that they are supposed to be executing.

We're getting smashed in the clearances and contested ball, so the ball is going straight into the opposition's forward line. We have no method whatsoever for bringing the ball out of defence, and transitioning it to the forward line. Occasionally we get a fast break, but we've got nothing else when that doesn't happen. As a result, the ball is spending roughly 80% of the time in the opposition's forward half.

I don't see a lack of effort by our players. What I see is a lack of method - and the root of that problem lies within the coaches' box. Until we fix the "method problem", it won't matter who goes out and who comes in, the end result will be the same.

Agree with this 100%.

I'd challenge anyone to define what our actual game plan is this year; what we are actually trying to do, and achieve?

Make sure we lose the centre clearance then hope like hell the opposition gets a behind.
Proceed to handball to flat footed team mate whom chip kicks 10 m to another team mate, run round in ever diminishing circles until you disappear up your own butt. Here is the tricky bit. At this time your butt portal should transport you to 15 m out right in front of your own goals.
This part is not working properly yet.
We have done it in training but it’s been hard to replicate under match conditions.

Was obvious we should've traded Tom Lynch when his value was high.

He's a very good player in a very good team; but if the team isn't flying, he's crap.

Should've traded him last year and tried to get one of the quality SA kids, then played Fog in his place.

Yes his game on Sat did show he ready and we should expect to see him in the side this week,
But his game the Sat before showed he was not ready to play for AFL on Sat night.
