He was able to be drafted by Port swapping draft picks to move higher in draft ,exactly as we could have done to get that pick or maybe even with picks we got for Lever and McGovern . Where the picks does not matter it is how use them . We got two under sized players and gave away 19 which could have been used for upgrade.

Greenwood does Nothing for issue with moving the ball forward. None of the changes do. We've dropped our best forward, brought back in a squib and a basketball player who can tag and win groundball. Also brought in a small Forward with issues similar to what we've been experiencing.

I still wonder how 2017 would have panned out if:

Cotchin got rubbed out for the Grand Final.
Geelong played the Cats in Week 1 of the Finals at Kardinia instead of at the G
If Gov and Smith were both fit to play in the GF.
If Pyke didnt cook the players before the grand final

Given how badly we did I still think if 2/4 of those things happened we may have been basking in a flag.

Club had a good opportunity with 6 first rounders (2 for gibbs, 4 last year ) to completely revitalise our list and if we had got it right we could have had a Geelong or Hawthorn dynasty of 2 to 3 flags over the next 5 year period. We could have also moved on the likes of Mackay, Douglas, Atkins, Lynch, Jenkins, Jacobs etc over the last 3 to 4 years and kept Cameron and Gov and still had equivalent picks from moving on those players. I will never forgive those in charge (Chapman, Riccuito, Burton, Fagan, Reid) for how they have mismanaged the club and put us in the position we are now in. 5 to 6 years of pure pain. Disgusting.

I realise this post is just making a factual correction and is not an opinion.

But while we are on the topic - worth every cent.

Im sure Port would not be caring a hoot about some lost 2nd rounders on top of the substantive cost.

People parroting on about not selling the farm and not to worry Hamish has some 1sts he can work with blah blah...

You identify top tier talent and get them in. Of course it’s expensive but you have to invest, you have to be bold.

Word at the time was that we were very keen on Butters with or 2nd Pick, but got pipped at the post by Port.

Was dead set keen on Rozee from the moment I saw him play and especially after what he was able to produce in the SANFL finals. Kudos to Port for having the balls to make the trade.

Unfortunately none of us really know the answer to that . But my view is a lot of these stuff ups reeks of Burton arrogance and incompetence.
Think we all forget, is that actually or technically Burton is boss of recruiters, fitness and coaches.

I hope we start to give him some midfield time. We need some pace and tackling presence around the footy and long term Chance is not a small forward, unfortunately that’s the only spot Pyke will allow a rookie player to be played.

Technically one of the 4 last year wouldn’t have been there if we hadn’t traded for Gibbs. However in hindsight, 3 1st rounders in 2017 draft and 3 1st rounders in 2018 draft would have been a great outcome in revitalizing the list.

We don't put rookies in positions to have a huge impact on games if we do give them games. We hide them in forward pressure roles, rather than giving them time near the ball where they can actually make an impact.

Nailed it in one. These players simply can’t be trusted to execute such a highly tuned, complex and effective game plan anywhere else. Middling role players lacking skill and ability to improvise/think quickly are the only ones able to do this.
