Summary....
Ins Walker, Shaw
Outs Tippo, and either Symes/Smith/Dogga/Johncock
Walker for Tippett - should be given, as Tippett need 2-3 weeks off to get himself right. No point him playing as less likely to finish a game at the moment.

Shaw should come in (as gives us versatility to play both ends), but for who? Not Dogga as he is part of our 22 & has had a rest. Should then be who is least likely to to be in our best-22, which is probably Symes. Smith has played most games & had a break & Stiffy should be in our best-22 & needs the AFL-match practice. Otten is the only other who may be in danger, but ahead of Symes.

Shaw for Symes. Stiffy to sub?

I don't think Simpson will be in. SJ more likely to play than not, but a bit early in the week to make a call. Same with Pods.

Expecting Bartel & Wojak in, 2 kids out.

Simpson is always a possibility, West is getting owned in hitouts. We can't always rely on his second efforts.

I will cry if we bring out the kids, they were awesome..but if we absolutely HAD to, maybe Walker, Guthrie or Murdoch

I know the 2012 Scarlett is not the same model (sounds like our defensive veteran ;)) but when i look at a Geelong line up and decide whether we can win or lose his is the name i traditionally feared the most. (Taylor no doubt their best defender now in any case).

Stupid by Scarlett but very fortunate timing for Adelaide.

Its going to be important to get games into guys that may feature in our finals campaign.
Sanderson has made it clear he wants to keep structure. We have seen him try 2 KPP and 1 ruckman, or 2 KPP and 2 ruckman. Which one he goes with will depend on the opposition.
Given that Smack is missing and with Tippet under an injury cloud, it is even more important to keep Jenkins in the side.

I'm not sure 2 KPP and 2 ruckman is the correct way to describe it, it's a matter of whether we run with 2 KPF's or 3, one of them will always have to provide relief for Jacobs.

Anyway, going forward our set up should certainly be Jacobs plus 3 KPF and considering Jenkins recent form those 3 should be Walker, Tippett and Jenkins, with Tippett providing relief ruck work. Going in with any less leaves us far too exposed for talls if one of them goes down with injury. We were able to cover it on the weekend, but we did struggle for portions of the 2nd and most of the 3rd with only 1 KPF, a couple of fortuitous umpiring decisions seemed to break West Coast and allowed our midfielders the time and space to properly hit up our smaller forwards. That won't be as easy come finals time.

In the same way we have carried Porp/Vince for half the season to run them into form, and are now reaping the benefits, the coaches will now do the same with Stiffy. Seriously, in a tight, aggressive final we need him to be operating at full capacity, down back I reckon.

We're into the final straight now, I'm not sure its time to be carrying players like we have with Porps/Vince/Douglas, if players aren't fit enough they really shouldn't be in the side. Besides we tried carrying Johncock for the first third of the season and it didn't work, he ended up being dropped, what's to say there'll be any reward for carrying him. Johncock operating at full capacity is elite, he's a match winner, the question is whether we'll see that and then if Johncock is only operating at say 50-60%, is he worth a spot in our 22. IMO it questionable when we have so many other players worthy of a spot in our side.

Having said that, I think he'll get at least another week to show his worth. As others have said, Tippett and Symes for Walker and Shaw.

Given Otten's good form down back on the weekend and Shaw's good showing up forward against GWS, I wouldn't mind seeing us play Shaw up forward until Tippett can get back.

Tippett - Out. Stevie J: In - confirmed by Chris Scott moments ago :D
Along with Bartel, Wojo, Christianssen and possibly Pod.
Minus Scarlett, thats nearly full strength.
Ouch... bad timing for Adelaide! :D

Bartel is the only difference this time from the round 7 side... :thumbsu:
Geelong have lost 2 games in more than half a decade down there.
And we're in form now at the right end of the season like we have been for the past 6 years. Coincidence?
And you think your just going to waltz down there and get a win? hahahaha.
Good luck with that :D
Cats by about 30-40pts

Yours era is over!

I think personally the Cats picked the wrong coach for their club!

I would not want Scott if there was an option right now to swap!

100% agree with this.

With no Hendo, we cannot go in with just Walker, Tippett, Jacobs. Must have the additional forward tall i.e. Jenkins.

Having both Shaw and Otten in the 22 (even if one was sub) also helps.

Still room for enough runners.

Damn really :(

Fingers crossed!

Best situation is that he plays then does his groin in the first qtr!

poor form to wish for injuries, even in jest.

(Yet another) season defining game for the Cats. When the supporters had lost faith the boys turned in on against Essendon - it wasn't the win, it was the ferocity of the attack, and much cleaner ball handling. Wouldn't give them a serious hope if playing in Adelaide, but in with a sniff at home. But up against one of the form teams, with a coach that knows the cats inside and out.

My tip - depends if I tip with my head or my heart!!

Good luck boys.

All jokes aside,
Seriously, crows are going to have their work cut out big time.
That place is a fortress down there. It's easier playing the eagles in Perth than it is the Cats in Geelong.
Bartel back in is massive.
It's gonna be interesting to see how the younger crows deal with a truck load of pressure in front of a feral crowd against a side who has just smashed 6th place on the ladder by 70 odd points..
I got a feeling it could get messy...
