I expect petrenko to line up on motlop. There is no way in hell I'd be putting doughty anywhere near a player with the electrifying speed of motlop.

Put it this way, I'd like the same matchup on motlop that we had in the game at aami earlier this season. I could be wrong, but I believe pets went with him for at least some of this game. I do vividly remember that motlop had a horrific day and absolutely no impact whatsoever. let's do that again ;)
Petrenko was on Enright, there's even an article on Adelaide Now today talking about it. Given Smith was on Stevie J, it was Doughty or Jaensch if he played on Motlop.

Pretty sure Pets will go to Enright. Pets always seems to go to the opposition's playmakers on HB. And he played on Enright in our earlier clash

Afc just tweeted that Otten had a knee op this morning and will be out for up to six weeks!

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite. Hopefully Sam Shaw is ready or things start to get a little thin...
agreed. Really didn't see that one coming. Played well. Gotta feel for him.

Luke Thompson capable of filling a third tall role? Wouldn't have thought it's ideal if shaw doesn't get up.

It shouldn't have too much impact on the team but it is devastating for Andy. After playing his best game since doing his ACL nearly 2 years ago, the timing is awful for him. Sounds like Sam Shaw will not be ready so surely the Ranga will be given a go as the third tall in defence.

This is spot on. Terrible personally but won't affect the side at all. Plenty of depth in this position. Either shaw will get up or they could bring in either Thomson or lynch. It will be interesting to see if lynch is pidgeon holed as a forward. Personally I would like to see luke win this battle. He appears to have been consistent and deserving of a chance. What may count against him is that he plays as kpd.

Either way we are good. Still very lucky with injury imo, in so far as we get a few flat tyres, but the engine remains unscathed ....so the car keeps running smoothly.

Do we know which knee Otten had operated? The good one or the bad one? Luke Thompson in a like for like swap for mine. We could probably even go smaller in defence this week - conditions likely to be difficult and it's hard to see Geelong going with more than 2 genuine KPF (Hawkins and Pods/Walker depending on Pods' fitness).

Dwayne alert: Luke Thompson is a Geelong boy so he should enjoy being back in his home town if he plays.

Agree 100%.

Pretty sure Pods is highly unlikely to play. Has a bad ankle and they normally take more than 1 week off to heal.

If Shaw is not available then I'd like to see Lynch back there. Give them a good dose of Ranga!

Bad luck for Otto, one step forward two back. :(
Not worried thou as we have ready replacements. Shaw to comes straight back if he is ok. Agree that The Lynch Mob should get a go in the backline, going to be a cracking game.

Feel for Andy O. He obviously opened an umbrella indoors while walking under a ladder and having his path crossed by a black cat and reciting lines from Macbeth.
I too would like to see Lynch get a run back, but won't be upset if it's Luke T.

L johnstone? he said in his initial press confernce he wanted to break into our defence

Has he played much defence this year at SANFL level?

He's been booting goals but I haven't heard of him going down back.

Lynch has the exposed SANFL form in that position and should be the first to go in if Shaw doesn't.

That sucks as it (IMO) looked like he was regaining some much needed confidence in his body. However, 6 weeks is no time and it could be much worse.

Actually, Pods has been rested since our rd 14 match vs Port. I'm still not positive he'll be ready to return though. A recent presser from Scott seems to indicate he's fit enough, but who knows at this point. If true, he would be preferable to Walker as Pods would draw Rutten or Talia (most likely Rutten). But he wasn't exactly tearing it up before he went down...

Its going to be a colossal match, that's for sure. A lot riding on its for both teams involved, albeit for different reasons. Crows looking to solidify prime position for finals (as well as gaining even more momentum!) and the Cats are looking to see if last week was a sign of things to come, or just the one last hoorah.

I'm hoping for a close solid match with no injuries/suspensions. Once the Cats are well and truly out of the finals race, I'll be barracking your boys. Love the way you've played this year as well as a hat tip to Sando and Dasher :thumbsu:

Last time around Rutten got Tomahawk and Talia got Pods. They kicked 1 goal between them which was from a dicey free kick. So we will probably go the same way again if Pods plays. Rutten usually takes the more gorilla forwards whereas Talia is better suited to the leading forward.

I think our key defenders match up well on the Geelong guys, but it's the small and mid-size players like Johnson, Chapman, Duncan and Smedts who are probably a bigger concern to me.
