I've been hearing this for 4-5 years. I understand what your saying though. Just think he'll have to lay off the weights and shed some kilos (of muscle) if he wants to prolong his career.

True, I've also been hearing that for the past 5 or 6 years but their is a massive difference for a 24/25 year old trying to keep up with the pace of the game and a big, bulky 30/31 year old.

You are right in saying, if he loses some bulk and muscle he may gain a yard of pace and if he does this, he may gain another year.

hmmm. interesting... certainly back us to cover pods or murdoch over johnson any day of the week. fingers crossed.

Truck had bugger all pre-season and is still running out games just fine. He's a rock. He's got years to come IMO. So smart with positioning and knowing when to bother making an effort - this will extend his usefulness.

On jacobs - ****. We're going to really struggle anytime we lose him. Especially with Tips/Smack also not in the side. I'd be really tempted to look at Dowdell to be honest. He's no doubt raw and inexpereinced but has the right type of aggression and body size. Has had some big hit out numbers this year. May struggle to run out the game but we just need a big body to get the ball falling our side form time to time.

The time frame we were using is in 2 years time. Not this season.

he can play any time as an alternative talent, yeah? no upgrade required?

Bick's presser

Anyone believe Bicks about the emergencies? Just in case of someone getting the sniffles, huh? Think we might have a concern or two.

Definitely going to be wet weather footy. Been caning down all day in Melbourne. Forecast is for more over the weekend and Geelong is not noted for producing more clement conditions than up the highway...

If true, something like this could be the making of McKernan, his ruckwork IMO is quite underrated on this board and given a full game in this position could really boost his belief that he does have the ability to play AFL.
Well we can dream cant we .
Though right Smack turns up we might get 1 or 2 good games out of him but beyond that

Jacobs is absolutely irreplaceable in our side, and frustratingly our only other performing ruckman (in terms of their actual ruckwork) in Tippett is also out.

If they play him tomorrow and he does an injury, there'll be hell to pay...

Still, he's proven to be extremely durable thus far so, fingers crossed, he'll be okay.

Hawkins seemed pretty confident about SJ playing tomorrow. Trained today and look fine according to Tomahawk, so hard to see the Cats making a late change. Pods as E is weird though.

After watching Bicks' presser, I reckon Sauce will play. Normally if there's doubt over a player the coaching staff will say "we'll give him all the time he needs to prove his match fitness", and I don't see any reason why Bicks should say anything different about Sauce.

Sounds pretty run of the mill to me, I reckon he'll play.

Hmm yeah, I'm not sure. I don't think all 3 normally travel, but then I've never really taken notice.

I know it doesn't happen all the time.

The difficult thing is how much to read into that. It may be that McKernan would have travelled anyway, we'll never know. I don't think the fact that Tambling and Lynch are travelling as well add any weight to the theory that Jacobs won't play.

Watching the Hawks vs Bombers game, with the Bombers being demolished in the first quarter. Makes you wonder how much of a "return to form" that so many footy experts have been talking about when discussing the form of The Cats. Especially when you consider how much trouble they had putting away both GCFC and The Power, perhaps they were flat track bullies last week against a weakened Essendon.

Well, one can hope this was the case.
