All teams play players with niggles otherwise they wouldn't be able to field a team. Let's agree to disagree.

So pleased to see every senior list player with a number in the 40s playing. 5 of them! And Youngy's contested ball winning will be important in what could be heavy conditions.

Glad to see Lobbe back and hope he brings his hard at the ground ball second and third effort strongman ruck play with a bit of a contribution up forward.

Sorry to see Neade out for family reasons, hope everything is ok. But it's good to have Amon and his lethal boot back. Hopefully he's learned the lesson from his dropping and burrows in hard.

Surprised to see 3 changes but two forced that were a bit of a blindside.

As much as I want to give guys like Redden, Harvey, Amon and DBJ a crack they need to earn it. Harvey's form has been terrible even in the Magpies. At least guys like S Gray, Mitchell and even Lobbe went back and played some good games to warrant a call up.
Lobbe was pantsed by Daniel Bass on Saturday. Hardly form screaming for a recall.

Harvey isn't injured. He's been left out and told to work his arse off on the track. Contract not guaranteed.
Interesting, I was of the understanding the rules re Power listed players in the sanfl is they have to be picked regardless of form, and injury is the only way a player can be omitted, hence an extremely underdone Sam Russell playing in the finals last year, while better performed Maggies' players ( at the time ) were omitted.

Maybe the above effects finals eligibility only, and a player can be ` rested ' during the minor round, ala Reddo a few weeks back.

Krak: Does his hammy with his last kick in the showdown, plays sanfl a few weeks later to adjust to some sort of speed, first afl game back sub then plays a full game the week after. If we we're so "shit" he would have been rushed into a full game. Probably the best case of player welfare this year.

Paddy Ryder: Hurts his Achilles sits out for four weeks when everyone on this board wanted him back by week 2 of his injury. Wasn't rushed back in, took 1 afl game to get up to scratch, was never going to sit out against the swans when they have pyke as their no 1 ruck.

Wines: Does his wrist against North, sits out for 4 weeks when posters were wanting him back after 3 and plays quite well on return even with the brace on. Suffers a different injury to his previous which ends his season.

Gray: Corked calf in round 4. Again if we we're so "shit" we would of made him play especially against the biggest powerhouse in the league.

We're not all doom and gloom. The players you highlighted: Polec- Naviculars are ongoing injuries you feel good for a couple of weeks then bang struck down again ask jack trengove. White - Is an explosive player and the injuries he suffered; ankle and hamstring. We all know hamstrings are the most common injury to reoccur once back out on the park due to the extension of the tissue. White needs to push off his ankle to gain his speed and when its sore he will always appear slower. Due to his style of play he would of had an even chance to reinjure it whether it was 1 weeks or 4 weeks rest. Schulz and Carlile have old hardened bodies where previously they would be able to shake their injuries faster, this year it's caught up to them.

Lobbe had about 2 high quality taps that resulted in goals. The rest were just average to poor.

He won the battle against Bass, But only just.
Agreed didn't see it as demanding an AFL recall but my views on Lobbe are well known.
Ken seems irritated by the question mark Lobbes has put on himself by the year he has had.
Maybe he will tap better than he has all year and take marks around the ground but I'm not confident
Prove me wrong Lobbes...........please cos I'm outta patience

This is a bad, ill-informed post.

PORT Adelaide mentor Ken Hinkley has loaded up his tall timber by recalling ruckman Matthew Lobbe — and his coaching rival on Saturday, Rodney Eade, fears the Power will find more height from his Gold Coast list.
As Hinkley reaffirmed his belief in working Lobbe and Essendon recruit Patrick Ryder as a ruck tandem at AFL selection, Eade highlighted the Suns’ concern in losing key forward Charlie Dixon to the Power during a busy October trade period.
But as Dixon remains linked to Port Adelaide with a potential five-year contract, Eade declared: “If he wants to go, we won’t give him up lightly.”

I think Ken is using the last couple of games as a last shot at seeing whether he can get the ruck combo of Ryder and Lobbe to work. If it doesn't it will raise even more questions about Lobbe going forward and may force Ken's hand over the off-season.

What a lot of rubbish, lobbe was pretty good
Clearly your standards are lower than mine. I would expect Lobbe to utterly destroy any ruckman in the SANFL. He's played two games, one to the required standard, and one well, well below that. And once again, offered not a damn thing around the ground. His form has deserted him, and his call up is as baffling as O'Shizes.

I am okay with matt lobbe in as long as he plays permanent forward, with 10-20% ruck, becasue he needs to become useful up forward if he wants to play regular AFL football. Now that the season is over, he must spend this time adapting to a place in the forward line, because if ken and the coaches had any idea about what they are doing, Paddy Ryder is number 1 ruck unquestionably.

Maybe it is for finals only because the sanfl were concerned about the 'integrity' of the sanfl finals but on the other hand everything else the sanfl put in place is there to work against us ... scratching my head. I know Thomas was telling me in the beginning of all this that if Hocking believes an AFL player hasn't earned a spot then that player will train under match simulated conditions. Perhaps we have that flexibility in the minor round. The other thing is there would be players that haven't had their AFL rest week, so we look to be managing that player by player.

I don't think it'll happen but I honestly wouldn't be that disappointed if we delisted Harvey. I can't see him ever having the athleticism to make it at AFL level, he seems like he'll develop into the classic 'too good for SANFL, not good enough for AFL' type. I rate both Shaw and Howard higher as long term prospects personally. We should've taken Ben Brown.

If we get Dixon i wouldn't be disappointed delisting both Harvey and Shaw while maybe switching Howard back and start again in the draft.
