I think Barrass being out is having a flow on affect that is hurting Jettas game.
Gov, Barrass and Shep are the main interceptors who do most of their intercepting by way of marking and then quickly dish it off to the running distributor in Jetta and Hurn, most of the time.
With Barrass out and Gov going back and forward the balance is thrown out of whack. His replacements don't and can't play the same game as him so the flow on effect is the back 6 game style has changed a little leaving Jetta in a bit of limbo.
Fair enough he has to work through it and try much harder to get into the game and have an effect but what he would have trained for throughout pre-season and the start of the year doesn't stand up with a missing key cog.

That is just from one key player missing in the back line, god help the poor forward line and all it's pre-season drills and game plans.

In spite of all the injuries we were 27 points in front in the third quarter. The players can therefore play. What happened in the last quarter and the first quarter the week before? Is there some terrible flaw in the game plan that causes (allows) these fades? The coach needs to figure this out.

That is the problem, and it has of course been identified by the coaches (as seen in Simmo's comments after the game).

We just seem to have no way of quickly arresting momentum when it turns against us. Teams kick ~3 goals in a row all the time and so long as you react quickly to that and get one or 2 back its normally not an issue.

Our problem is we have been giving up 5+ in a row, often in quick succession. When it happened against Geelong (6 in a row), Port (5), and the Saints (6) we already had a 4-5+ goal lead and we were still in front at the end of the storm or close enough (and had enough time) to come back. Plus those games were all at home, which helps.

It was a different story against the Swans (7 in a row), Essendon (8) and the Crows (6) as we didn't have the handy lead to begin with (Swans and Dons) or didn't have enough time to come back/were playing away (Adelaide).

Avishka5 from big footy suggested this 2 weeks ago and it didn’t eventuate and he’s the most trusty worthy bloke form all the people to suggest NN to FF.
Agree with you mate ;that Avishka bloke is a legend.NN doesnt even need to do anything, just stand there. That in itself changes the whole dynamic.

Not a Masten fan but yeah he wasn't why we lost last week. Our inside mids let them waltz out with the ball every time in that last 1/4. Yeo should have played in there from the start , this year when he is in there majority of the time we win way more clearances.

I really hope Barrass is back so we have better structure down back and if we do keep Gov forward we are not putting Yeo in the backline.

We were a lot more unpredictable in the middle earlier in the year when we had Rioli, Cripps and Venables spending time there so i hope we go down that route and not keep the same guys in there.

Half forwards also didn't have the run to help cover their half backs - kids not fit enough

All those saying Masten needs to be dropped need to have a genuine spell. Bloke was decent last week and there’s legit no one in the team that could replicate his role.

22 touches (16 kicks) 19 disposals were effective, 8 marks, 502m gained and 6 rebound 50’s. He basically did the job Simmo wants him to do.
I honestly thought he was one of our best, yet no ones really talking about how badly Jacobs towelled up Lycett and NN.

I think this is exactly why we got run over. You need all 18 players contributing, it's not just the mids these days otherwise Freo would probably be contending for a premiership.
