Apparently 1 game of 20 touches and 2 goalsis good enough for Nutter which I don't really agree with but hes profiting frm our lack of small forwards. Lyons would be unlucky but as has been mentioned his strength is the same as many of our guns. He will get more games and will impress. Our selection policy hasn't been as bad as some are suggesting

Can we leave the hissyfits until the final teams are in?

Kerridge will play. As for Jaensch he has been one of our most consistent and is putting together a very good year why would he be dropped.

Our 2nd best defender and former AA full back, our captain, one of our most inform players are all in this group.

Are you really lumping those guys in the group that "continually disappoint"?

Yes mate I'm well aware of who I named. I also acknowledged their individual performances/contributions or whatever you want to call it.

But let's look at the facts ..... Some of our most gut wrenching finals disappointments have been on their watch. As a collective of experienced players they have achieved nothing, not even a GF appearance. Some individual achievements. Epic fail in terms of team achievement

He's got another year after this one though on his contract, so unless he's had a change of heart, I can't see the club letting him go anywhere (that's if he actually wants to leave, which I don't think he does).

There has been plenty of faith put into younger players, but some on here would be better served supporting GWS given their blind hatred of more senior players.

It's not a hatred of senior players, it's a hatred of senior players of whom are terribly out of form, these same 'Senior Players' who are constantly being given game's despite not having earned them, can you defend David Mackay so far this season? What about Porps? Bernie Vince? Shall I continue?

Watch them play well on the weekend against the GWS kids and everyone will claim they're 'back in form' till we play a genuine contender and they dish up the same old shit they always do, some things never change...

I'm really over our selection and I'm also over a number of players that , frankly, I've had a gutful of seeing disappoint. When you look and see the likes of Vince, Porps, McKay, Reilly, Douglas, Van Berlo, Callinan, Rutten, Johncock... Does anyone really see a flag?

Rutten, Douglas, VB disappointing? pfft Rutten -solid, Douglas - dare I say "scintillating"? ..... no..... very good though. We play better with VB in the team..... plus his experience in his role is invaluable.

Johncock was given his chance....... he's looking like pure depth now

Vince and Reilly have started badly, Vince has been dropped and given a 2nd chance and his last game and a half he has started to turn his form around. Reilly is starting to warm up too.

We need one of Porps or Callinan to crumb. I think who plays will depend on weather.

Mckay had disappointed.

Your scatter gun approach at laying blame does you no favours. If we dump all our senior players we win 7 games and become a laughing stock and never develop a winning culture to raise the kids in.

Yeah but once he comes back from a spell you give him more than one game.
But he would have only got that game because of injury. Players are coming back.

Oh I think theres one thing that's slipped under the radar, Pets didn't make the squad.

So you don't rate Deledio either?

Sure there are plenty of decent individual players/ performances amongst them, but this core of players have not taken us to the top, and I suspect never will. How many losing finals series do we need to see these guys participate in . That is the bottom line. Can we throw them all out at once? Of course not. But surely there must come a point where these guys are phased out.

I'm sick of seeing these players trotted out each year and knowing that we can't win a flag before we even start.

End rant

But don't forget with the Tippett trade, last years 1st and 2nd rounders and then again this year, we'll have drafted our way forward. Good times coming our way.

You didn't read my post properly. I said very clearly we can't drop them all at once.
If your happy with what has been achieved over the past few years then good for you. I'm unhappy with what the club has achieved while these players have been the core, experienced players. I've seen enough.

How could you put Douglas alongside the likes of Mackay, Porps and Vince this year? I've had my issues with him in the past, but he's been one of the Crows better players this year.

You can pluck good individual performances easily enough. Yes of course Douglas is having a decent year. Vince was good in 09. Rutten had an AA year. Reilly was good last year. McKay was BOG in the 09 Semi.

But as a core group of senior players, they are not good enough and we need to regenerate the side and move on from them.

Jeez there's gonna be some heartache on that extended bench. My guess is Callinan, Laird and Lyons will drop out.
I think you will probably be right. Lyons & Laird very unlucky, unless they give Hendo another week as a precaution.

Porps & Mackay better light it up against GWS as we have emergency players who are in form.

Matty J has been consistent however IMO he needs to start moving his performances to a higher level otherwise he will remain on the fringe

Last GF:
Essendon's: 2000
North: 1999
Freo: never
Melbourne: 2000
Carlton: 1999
WB: 1961
Richmond: 1982

They're difficult to make.

To lay the blame on those players and to say "they've achieved nothing as a collective" is basically disrespectful IMO.

What was your opinion last year on these players when we were well on our way to finishing top 2 and a kick away from a GF?

I actually rate Douglas, but I might agree with your point...

Are you saying that senior players who normally put in average (not bad, not good, but alright) performances shouldn't be considered automatic selections at the expense of younger players whose form is demanding a game??

I'm a fan of Mackay as well, and while I think we're not using him well at present, his output isn't great. It might not be bad, but it isn't great. Brodie Martin is on our list for a reason - give him a month in the side, and see if he's an improvement over Mackay. If he isn't, fine, we know come trade time.

We should be regenerating and improving our side from the fringes of our 22, but we rarely ever do unless injury or retirement force us to.

Once you have come back down to earth & review this post tomorrow, I suggest you retract or pretend someone hacked your account or follow another team... as this makes my top-10 most stupid posts of the month.

Yeah but they didn't make it...did they? Which is actually the point

Simply cannot. Doogy has been great. Anyone who mentions him as being droppable has no clue. I'd jettison Thompson before him.

Yes that's exactly what I'm saying.
