Rugby may be your sport then...

Well instead of playing the man you could suggest why/ how it is that the core group of senior players mentioned have made us a successful side over the last 5 or 6 years and whether you see them leading us to our next flag?

Can we leave the hissyfits until the final teams are in?

Kerridge will play. As for Jaensch he has been one of our most consistent and is putting together a very good year why would he be dropped.

Because he is, at best, a 24-28, depth player. Here's another way to look at it. Matty jaensch will never be a first 22 selected member of a flag team.

For as long as he is first choice, then afc is going nowhere.

Wouldn't the captain of the club eat up the extra pressure of a crunch game.

Apologies, forgot that this is the captain of the Adelaide footy club. Ours prefers a 'rookie shoot'.
Let me get this straight... you are bagging the captain because of the week has recovered from a knee injury, something completely out of his control?

Not bagging him at all. I am prepared to predict a similar result to cassisi though. Dude can play, but he's not very far away from becoming a passenger. This is something that a captain shouldn't be involved in.

If you can't work out why having a crack a club legends like Rutten & Johncock is an absolute disgrace, then IMO you are not worth having a further discussion with. You are entitled to your opinion - even if IMO it is a completely & utterly stupid one!

You can pluck good individual performances easily enough. Yes of course Douglas is having a decent year. Vince was good in 09. Rutten had an AA year. Reilly was good last year. McKay was BOG in the 09 Semi.

But as a core group of senior players, they are not good enough and we need to regenerate the side and move on from them.
You cannot be serious? I mean cmon, I can handle the whipping boys being in there, but Truck? A consistently brilliant FB for 200 games and going strong?

No, he was bagging you, because you said this would be the 'perfect' game for VB to come back as there would be no pressure....

He's the fricken captain of the damn club, if he cant perform straight up under pressure how are the others expected to follow suit??

I actually rate Douglas, but I might agree with your point...

Are you saying that senior players who normally put in average (not bad, not good, but alright) performances shouldn't be considered automatic selections at the expense of younger players whose form is demanding a game??

I'm a fan of Mackay as well, and while I think we're not using him well at present, his output isn't great. It might not be bad, but it isn't great. Brodie Martin is on our list for a reason - give him a month in the side, and see if he's an improvement over Mackay. If he isn't, fine, we know come trade time.

We should be regenerating and improving our side from the fringes of our 22, but we rarely ever do unless injury or retirement force us to.
You are seriously losing it Kingy. So you agree Truck is one of the reasons why we haven't won a flag in a while?

Again, are you kidding me? I never said he couldn't handle a pressure game first up, I just said it's good for us he's able to do it in a low pressure game to build his match fitness. Do people look for secret messages in every post now?

I keep repeating that I'm having a crack at the collective core group. As I've said before, you can focus on individual achievement if you like. What about overall team achievement.

Who hasn't won a flag since we last did;

Bulldogs
Demons
Tigers
Dockers
Blues

Some good company we keep

So what your saying is you can't answer the question. And I acknowledge its no easy discussion, but our results speak for themselves

Just seems like one of those seasons where nothing is going rit for us on and off the field.
Really frustrating.

If sando gets us out of this hes a genius imo

So if we don't make a GF, all the players are hacks are they? **** me.

No they're not hacks. Your words not mine. I said when they all click and play well we are maybe a top 4 side. Just not a flag side.

Can you see that Geelong have regenerated right under everyone's nose? They have been able to do that thanks to the quality of their core group of experienced players. That's the benchmark.

Your rage is misplaced.......

Massie on Franklin... Really?
No changes when a match up doesn't work? A game plan that never evolved.....

Don't forget those umpires. 09, then again last year, heck even last week.

I think you will probably be right. Lyons & Laird very unlucky, unless they give Hendo another week as a precaution.

Porps & Mackay better light it up against GWS as we have emergency players who are in form.

This is exactly the problem. They will light it up against GWS and so the problem continues.

Last year Kerridge was given 40 m inutes against Hawthorn who were all over us. Guess what Kevin, he didn't dominate. Similar story for Lyons and Lynch.

The difference in output between Johncock (2012/13 Version) and Kerridge was/is buggerall but I know who will be playing better football in 2 years time. Hawthorn understand (Hill, Anderson), Geelong understand (Horlin Smith, Guthrie), Collingwood understand (Elliott,Fasolo, Witts). These are not first round draft picks but they are playing in front of premiership players. We seem to believe in the Ross Lyon School of Player Development.

I said at the start of last year that we can't afford to pump games into fading journeymen (Doughty - 24 games, Johncock - 19 games, Porplyzia - 22 games) instead of the KIDS (Brown - 3 games, Kerridge 40 mintes, Lyons - 150 minutes). Playing first round draft picks (Dangerfield, Crouch) is easy. Playing 3rd or 4th round picks, or Rookies takes a bit more courage.

Silly point. If we make Top 4 we are every chance to make the GF.

Last year we regenerated pretty well. This year more youngsters are getting a shot. They youngsters will never develop to their fullest in a side bereft of senior players.

The season is long and Geelong have done very well this year. Let's see if they maintain the intensity all year before we state what benchmarks are.
