Good changes

However, I still don't and have never seen the need to pick a squad of 25 players.

Why not just come out and say, these are our in's and they are out outs and these 3 guys are out emergencies. It's only 24 hours, they are not going to trick anyone but they still feel the need to be all secret about it. It's pointless.
My guess is its a tv thing. The rule is that the full squad is named 2 days out from the game isn't it

I doubt it, I could be wrong but if its a TV thing, why wouldn't the TV stations get the clubs playing Friday and Saturday to submit a squad Wendesday night fir the sane thing.

I hate Sunday games for this reason. It's pointless, just name the bloody side.

Good selections :thumbsu:

Nice to see "the kids" being played ahead of depth players - it can only help us in the longer term. I'd like to see Crouch replace Wright next week.
They said Crouch would get a week in the sanfl

Nice to hear Harper say that bringing a playing like Lyons in, having him play a decent game, and then dropping him straight away was a mistake they'd made, and didn't want to make it again.
He also said it was unfair to drop kids who come in and play well.

Interesting that Sando said today they erred by playing Lyons too much up forward last week and not enough time in the middle where he did some good things. I reckon Sandos been reading this board. After some shaky decisions early in the season the match committee seems to be getting their shit together.

Can't complain about selections this week. :thumbsu:

Mackay and Porps still on very thin ice.
Yep Harper gave the impression Porps selection caused a lot of debate. Hopefully he can return to the Porps of old, he's not even 30 yet and an inform Porps is valuable. But I am concerned we don't have a small crumbing forward

Not at all. I've criticised Sando for not doing what he's doing this week, and now that he is starting to do it, I'm somehow wrong?
He's been blooding younger players all season, and you were criticising him under the assumption Lyons would be dropped, which is going at it half baked before the final teams are out. Even if Lyons was dropped and Jaensch stayed in, there is nothing wrong with that. Both are young, both are inexperienced. But if Lyons was dropped over Jaensch, you'd be in a frenzy, which is bloody annoying.

You surely don't believe that?

I know he isn't small but he is very quick, I noticed Danger named on a flank maybe they are giving him somewhat of a breather for the week

Spot on. Need to hope guys like Lyons take their chance, and with Crouch to come back the make up of the side is gradually changing.

You seem to have forgotten that stupid winky emoticon thingy that says 'don't worry, I'm only joking'.

Right?

Almost exactly the same except that Kerridge, Laird and Lyons all performed well last week and I'm pretty sure Tex failed to score in the coaches award in the 3 previous weeks before the Gold Coast match . Perhaps the Phil Davis ommission was a better example, although I don't seem to recall that we were playing the bottom team when we brought back the All Australian Centre Half Back.
Actually Walker kicked 4 in a night game vs Matthew Scarlett. Two quiet ones the next two weeks (Barry Hall goalless too from memory) and he got the boot.

And I didn't realise Scott Stevens was All Australian. Fair effort - three AA defenders. Unlucky Phil :thumbsu:

Aren't there no SANFL games this week? Probably better to give him a game against GWS than sit on the sidelines for a week and then deciding again if he's good to go. Reckon he'll be fine.

Good point, forgot about that.

If it was up to me I would have given him a run as well. I would have still done it knowing it may be a risk because of the aforementioned lack of match fitness but even though a bad game due to that is possible, I doubt its probable and in fact I feel he'll produce a very, very good game, especially if things get tough, he'll want to stand up. It must have been hard being in the stands for him for the last few weeks.

Jenkins in doubt so Hendo a good chance to come in.

Lyons, Laird and Kerridge playing so quite a few all worked up yesterday for no reason :D Sando has played the kids all year when they have deserved a chance so apologies are in order.

Jaensch extremely stiff.
Good work.

A player like Matty J shouldn't be playing with injections.

Danger, yes. Sloane, yes. Matty J, No.

And it is this sort of post that shows why you didn't get the job of Essendons sports scientist. Everyone, whether they are a player, a coach or the boot strapper...needle
