Changes v GWS

So you are saying we drop Clurey to play in SANFL finals?? I am pro One Club but bugger me that is taking it all a bit too far if true.

Maybe the coaching staff think playing 6-7 SANFL games and winning a flag would be better development for Clurey instead of playing 4 deadrubber AFL games and getting destroyed.

Then they should drop Pittard, Krak, Jonas Gray, Gray, Hoff etc etc

I'd like to see this butcher in defence experiment before he is delisted. If his stats really are that good and he performed well it would be a masterstroke.

Johnny has always been a good defender in the forward line, he is as tall as trengove, probably more agile too. He actually isn't a bad kick when he isn't shooting for goal too.

And I'm one of butchers biggest critics from way back

If we are experimenting I would like to see Trengove into the ruck.
Think he'd be great around the ground with his marking and seems to be a decent tap ruckman

Question: have we re-signed Matt White yet ?

WOW .... how our supporters don't like the selections for GWS (and don't see the bigger picture).... I think we have done well in the selections especially once you read this (from the Port web site)

So the SANFL finals are the 'bigger picture'? **** me.

So they have Cameron, Patton, McCarthy & resting ruck and we drop our only competent defender last week.

I can normally see the sense in the weekly changes. I got nothing with this.

The worst selection omission weve ever done
$3 gws looking worth a punt so I can get another fishing reel. Bright side of life right?

Agree - Trengroove needs to get out of cruise control.

I wasn't sure. Oh well now there is no excuse for these selections
It was a question and it would appear that the SNAFL have change the rules this year so Cluery hasn't qualified.

Link
... The qualification rules for AFL-listed players were changed for 2015, with players now needing to both play the majority of their seasons in the SANFL, including three games after June 30. ...

So as Coobk001 posted, this could be about qualifying players for SNAFL finals.

Why do you automatically think that will happen and automatically think we will fix up our issues by picking another short arsed mid fielder/forward type for another game?

Give a KPF kid a go, he plays well gets hit on the chest 3 or 4 times, goes back and slots 3 goals and he gets something that no drug dealer can even supply - confidence. He can take that confidence in to the next game or next season as he knows he is good enough to play at that level. And if he doesnt do well then its head down bum up and keep on working the next week either in the A's or he goes back the B's.

Playing another mid to supposedly fix up our run, so that when the ball is moved down the ground and all the player sees is Jake Neade on Phil Davis and thinks ****, thats not even a 50-50 contest, then starts thinking what do I do, stops, props and if he doesnt have a lateral option, then goes backwards and our run forward dries up. How does that fix up our running issues?

Ken's plan A has been an abject failure this year. Its time to start working on plan B, C, D etc. Now is the time to start on a new plan, not just repeat and rinse a failed one.

A gameplan that involves your opposition changing their normal game style just to counter it cannot possibly be considered a failed one. Especially when you consider that the sub rule will be going next year and the rotations on the bench will decrease to 80.

We tried a new gameplan this year. That stagnant, kick the ball to the boundary and reset shit? That was our solution to teams clogging up the corridor. Did it work? Hell no, because our players only want to play on their terms. If they put half as much effort into defending as they do to running towards goal on a fast break, we'd be top two right now. Selecting another midfielder over a rookie KPF is, in my mind, trying to encourage that run to return.

You look at Jake Neade on Davis and think there's a problem because like the players you are wanting to play perfect, traditional football - where the defenders defend, the mids attack and defend and the forwards kick the goals. I look at Neade on Davis and say that if our mids are smart they will put the ball into open space on the fat side of Neade and allow him to use his superior agility over the taller Davis to his advantage.

If we played 2014 football and added Ryder to it, we would win regardless of what the opposition did because in 2014 the players defended as a unit. But in 2015, thanks to continued pressure and the same lack of trust in the gameplan that the majority on here show, we've regressed into some shit kick in hope team. Playing a raw key forward isn't going to fix that. If Harvey is ready, 0 games or 4 games isn't going to be the difference when he debuts.

Im sure Hawthorn will be okay to not win the flag if it means Box Hill take home the cup.
Better insert  as some cant detect sarcasm.

yeah, because Hawthorn and us have exactly the same chance of winning the AFL flag this season...

Way to miss the point...
Everything we do is about the AFL team. Whatever benefits the AFL team should be done, and that includes trying our young players out, especially that we are no chance of an AFL flag!
