These older guys are mostly leagues better than our young guns

Disagree, and perhaps if we had given more games to the young guns previously they might now have more AFL experience.

If none of our young guns are better than our previous best 22 players like De Boer, Suban and Mzungu, then our recruiting has been beyond awful.

Sorry you may have misunderstood. The older guys i was referring to was the 30+: Pav, Sandi, Johnson, Mundy, D pearce and Dawson who are all currently better than our young guys.. Not the Boers, Subans and Mzungus. We'd play those aforementioned guys if you are in the hunt of a premiership, much like all the other top 8 teams. At the start of the year we thought we were still up there, hence why we played them....and hence the higher average age

The coaches favourites are the ones who perform and stick to the game plan.

Your problem is that you think Lyon and Fremantle are infallible and incapable of mistakes. Which is why you predictably attack anyone who ever questions anything.

No thats not true . I can complain with the best of them. Your problem is you're a know all who thinks he knows more about the club than the coaches that are actually involved in the day to day workings .

It's not like Sylvia was a favourite of mine, I just argued against the notion that he was recruited to play WAFL.
That makes you a hero after the fact as he did play AFL level with us.

Well the entire reason people labeled me as Sylvia's biggest defender was that I had him in the best 22 before the season started, reasoning that we wouldn't have bothered getting him if the match committee didn't consider him that. But a bunch of nuffies took offense to that and labeled me "Colin's mum" among other stupid things.

Alot of people viewed Sylvia as best 22 before the start of the season. The conjecture was around him coming straight in or via WAFL.

The nuffie who took most offense was you. That was why you were labeled colin's mum.

Ask him his opinion on Crozier

I just don't get it with Suban.

When's the last time anyone can recall him running down a player? Kicking a goal? escaping a tackle and not being pinged for HTB?

When's the last time he's done anything of note?

Regardless of any of that how does his performance in the WAFL justify a recall?

Anyway, we are playing youngsters and there's no doubt a plan. If it was truly on form Crozier and Blakely would be out instead of Tucker and Grey.

We will need to be very patient this season.

I remember when the Puopolo role was the Deboar role.

He has the honour of being the player most mistaken as food... does that help?[/QUOTE]

Chill mate.

I think we need another 5 more pages of pointless debate about Suban and then agree to move on to something else? Perhaps 8 pages back and forth about Dawson? Followed by another 6 on Mayne? Oops, almost forgot Croz, a handful perhaps, say 4? Danyle Pearce gets 3? Have I missed anyone? Barlow's in favour this week, so not him. Sutcliffe? Spurr? Sheridan? Ballantyne? Any other nominees?

Suban has been selected, nothing we can do about it. I think there are plenty of valid reasons to either support or to question him so neither "side" is right or wrong imo. My feeling is that once Bennell comes in, there won't be a spot available for Suban regardless of whether we play youngsters or not. He is on the fringe and our team hopefully will improve to a point where his services will no longer be needed as part of the B22. I hope the same for Dawson, Danyle Pearce, Ballantyne and Mayne. Ideally I hope we even get to a point where we don't need Pav before the end of the season (we somewhat need to because we won't have him next year). It's not that I don't respect any of these guys (eg Pav especially), it's just that if we want to become a better football team we need to be developing the best players we can, and that means guys with limitations will need to make way at some point in time.

I think we are getting the mix of experience and youth pretty right with the selections, we just have a lot of our best players injured at the moment, so the experienced guys we are forced to use aren't ideal perhaps? If Sandi, Fyfe, Bennell and Johnson were all 100% there wouldn't be much room for our fringe "experienced" players and possibly everyone here would be happy. Ok, that's a pipe dream. But maybe we'd at least move on to other conversations rather than having the same ones each week with a different player's name inserted?

I really like Ethan first taste freo home match as a WA player. If he got a fyfe like performance I don't really care about suban at all.
Fyfe like performance? I wouldn't want to set the bar to high. Might put the weight of expectation on him - I'd settle for a Daicos like performance to start, then work from there.

Sorry forget to said early year where he is still skinny.
