If this happens please make it Schofield and not Mackenzie.

I'd be keeping Tom in myself.
I really like Barass but he has got lost the last few weeks and been out marked regularly where before he was able to spoil. He should be sent back with instruction on where he needs to improve...just seems to be unsure. I wouldn't worry too much about Mckenzie getting a run. He has been really good and may have regained form

Yeah I'd keep him in too as I think it's our slow mids that are causing half the problem as they're not putting any pressure on the ball carrier delivering to the opposition forwards.
Against the dogs last week he was easily out marked one on one and just got out of position. This week he was out positioned again but also pretty hopeless on the deck. Ffs everyone knows Daniher is a lefty but he was allowed to snap a goal from a ground get on three occasions

I would actually consider swapping Darling for FMac - ie play Darling as a ruck / forward.
Then we could play Lamb in Darling's spot
Nelson for Butler
Hutch for Redden
Mutimer in Priddis / SMitch's spot and Karpany in HF.

I actually giggled at your name!! We certainly played like wet toast today:flushed::mask:!! As a wise man once said "we suck didilyuk"

Giles is a lumbering slow ruckman who doesn't take a mark. Mummy will kill him. Wellingham earns his spot but much as I have been a Butler fan and defended him in recent years when others have called for his head, he just seems to be a little slower, undecided and inflexible now so Nelson for him. I'd bring Lamb in for Murtimer or Cripps although I've always thought Hill delivers a lot more forward line pressure than he is given credit for and I think we would have been slightly more competitive if he had played.
wellingham can **** right off ! He is the poster boy for our lack of attack on the ball and the man . Even masten has shown more intent this year by far !
The amount of times this year wellingham gets front and center at the contest saying down instead of going for the mark is infuriating .
0 tackles today for wellingham .

Ok. Let's not over react we had a ok 3 weeks and wins against 3 teams that look like they will be top6. I think today's game showed a few things.

1- While the talent in the midfield is good, we really only have the 1 match winner (Shuey) I liked Yeo in there early and think to be a true threat he has to stay there.

2- Our transition this year from
Back to Forward has gone backwards. We ain't taking the game on at all. Slow

3- No one is crumbing in the forward 50 and getting rebounded against easily.

These are my Changes for this week and leave it till the bye.

Schofield in for Barrass
Our best shut down tall
Defender. Barrass is the future but struggling this year in some games and you would expect that from a 30 gamer.

Jetta in for Redden and play him forward. Crumb and use his pace and skills. Don't have to think too much in that role.

Hill in for Masten.
Masten ball use and bad decision making was so bad today and some one has to pay. Hill creates some run at least and can hit targets

Nelson for Butler
Butler great servant but need to create some pace and Nelson was good early in the year.

Petrie for FMac
Harsh I think Fras has been ok but I think Petrie is better in the ruck and can beat most number 2 rucks. We need some advantage at some stage in the ruck.

Partington for Mutimer
Had his chance, while he was ok didn't make enough of it, so reward the inform young player. Only problem with Partington is can he play another position then in and under midfielder.

Jetta Kennedy Lecras
Cripps Petrie Darling
Gaff Sheed Duggan
Hurn McGovern Wellingham
Sheppard Schofield Nelson
Vardy Yeo Shuey
Priddis Partington Mitchell Hill

Win the next couple and turn 8-3 and could set out season up. While ATM we are not a premiership team but I don't think anyone is ATM.

Well changes should be a plenty. Also OP wanting Vardy dropped? Him and Kennedy are the only two thay can fly home with some dignity IMO. Also can most certainty Bradd Hutchings come in so he can squib around for 25 useless touches.

Outs: Muts, McInnes, Redden, Barras
Ins: Hill, Petrie, EMac, Jetta (give him one last shot)

Would you have played both Hill and Cripps (by dropping Redden or Mutimer for Cripps) today Keys ?
I think Cripps coming back from injury should have played for EP although there's some hindsight hero to that view

If they wanted to drop hill someone like Karpany or even Lamb should have been brought in

The one positive after today is that unlike last year we actually have players in the reserves in reasonable form so there's options at least that often wasn't the case in 2016

There's at least half a dozen players who have a legitimate case for being elevated

really think we should give lamb, karpany + parto a go. For the most part their form has been very good in wafl this year and we need to blood more youth.

Does Anyone know if Barrass has played Forward as a Junior? Strong hands. Reckon it could work and could also do some back up Ruck work.

In: Nelson, Hill, Barrass
Out: Butler, Redden, Schofield
Barrass will certainly improve, but has struggled a bit this year, maybe needs a bit of a stint in the 2nds, too bad there's no game this weekend. Maybe keep him for 1 more game, or put Schoey in to help out, although we've only gone in with 2 KPDs this year plus Yeo, it will also allow Yeo to spend more time in the middle.

Liked your changes for GWS a page or two back. Thanks to your WAFL reports we get a fair idea of how these fringe players are travelling. Schofield in for McInnes with Darling/Gov or even Schofield helping Vardy in the ruck? Agree that Vardy+Petrie combo is better but it is not like we are going to win the ruck contests against Mumford anyway.

Second half of the season hopefully with Lycett back in the side ( injury prone ) West Coast can play Vardy forward more letting Darling off the leash a lttle more maybe ...that's injury free assumption with Lycett though .

Could be a better forward set up because we haven't been the high scoring team of last season or two .

I don't get this Petrie shit - he had 15 disposals and 11 hitouts in his first game back.

McInnes averaged 17.8 disposals and 20 hitouts over 7 games before he got a call up.

I know that we all want to make wholesale changes after a shit performance but if we're genuine, we can't drop a guy who played well for nearly 2 months and didn't get disgraced today, for a guy who's lacking match fitness and didn't light up the reserves.

If we play favourites to such a degree, I'll lose all faith in the selection committee.

:drunk:

Our backline worries me to. We have some great intercept markers when the opposition has time they can spot up targets we play too far off of their opponents.
What you've described is 100% the fault of the midfield & forwards and the basis of the game plan. When they struggle to put opposition under pressure the whole defensive systems fails.

Seems Petrie played well in the WAFL but that is expected from a guy with more than 300 games AFL experience. I think Simpson would have got him in the team against GWS irrespective of how he played in WAFL or what happened in the Essendon game. Tunbridge and McInnes are the only players from the 2011 draft still at the club - I'd rather they stick with McInnes to see what he can offer going forward or to at least get another team interested in him. Petrie is unlikely to play beyond this year.
Did you watch the Simpson's press conference after the game today? There is no doubt Petrie will play against GWS. Nothing against Petrie, I am sure he is a nice guy.

I don't think Petrie played that well and, yes, I saw the press conference but Simpson answered a question about Petrie, he didn't bring Drew up.

Having said that, there is a lot of evidence to suggest that Simpson wants Petrie in the team at any cost. Mates for a 10+ years and all that.

True he did not bring Petrie up. But he was very emphatic in his answer - said Petrie played well and kicked the winning point. Don't think Petrie was ever going to be a back up; if Lycett was fit it would have been him and Petrie in the ruck against NM in round 1.

A little off topic but I don't really know where to put it.

I'm still in the camp of Schofield losing weight and playing on the wing or as an attacking HBF next year.

He plays his best footy taking the game on and adds versatility to the side.

No room for mateship in AFL. That's all I have to say on the matter!!
