Simpson is weak as piss. After a game like that in Melbourne, where our senior players and leaders yet again go absolutely missing, they get a free pass and remain in the team whilst our kids and guys on the periphery get cut.

Yet again, he had an opportunity to drop a senior player to send a huge message, and he didnt have the balls to do it. And in the future, he will likely be baffled again when this bullshit in melbourne repeats itself.

Very disappointed
Think it's not just up to Simmo - it's a collective decision by whoever is on the match committee - so I'm led to believe anyway.

I actually like Hill in - he does a lot of unnoticed things and also is capable of getting us 2-3 goals (is quite uncanny at times, just not often enough but he has plenty of friends).

Yeah I agree, I'm not a Hill critic and I was surprised he was dropped last week, I'd probably have him ahead of Jetta but I want Karps in too so I wasn't sure for balance whether Hill or Jetta would be better because no doubt if Karps gets a game they'll play him forward.
Cripps should have been dropped for Hill, but I guess EP bye worked in Cripps favour this week.

A bit underwhelming but not overly unexpected. Simpson still needs to win games otherwise the pressure on his job will start to build. If Karpany gets a game I'll be a bit more enthused.

Venables and Partington are a shot later in the year.
If we dropped a bunch of senior players, get beaten by GWS and miss top 4 by a game, fans would be going absolutely apeshit.

Gotta bank those wins

We're playing at home after a massive defeat and being belted from pillar to post in the media and by the fans. We're playing against a side that is injury plagued and what is our response? Drop the youth, excuse the senior players.... again.

I appreciate you can't change all the parts and expect the engine to run but do we honestly think the senior players are shocked by any of the omissions?

Do we honestly think any of them would be concerned that if they don't lift their intent that they may be next due to the match committee sending a clear message that they demand results or else?

Nope, we drop the youth and the usual suspects and the status quo remains the same.

These changes are shit. Yeah, I know, five changes on paper looks good but it is the wrong players, mostly. Mutimer, McInnes and Barrass deserved extra time. No issue with Redden and Wellingham. If the first three are replaced by Hutchings, Jetta and Mackenzie I wouldn't be surprised if we get belted.

It's true. The senior players know they can coast along and keep their spot each week the only senior 22 that probably know they aren't as safe as the others would Wellingham and Hill. Masten and LeCras especially have been super inconsistent the past few years, (Masten his whole career) yet we still persist and don't drop them to send a message. And in return our young guys know that they will be supper lucky to get a shot at AFL level.

At this current moment in time I'm ok with saying that a fair few of the senior players don't really give a f**k about this club, they're just their to collect their pay check at the end of the week, knowing however they play on the weekend, they'll be gifted another game the next week.

If Lecras goes a 3rd week goalless I dont think the MC can ignore it

Sounds like a challenge ;) As a forward if he's not kicking goals its someone else's fault hence the reason he's never been dropped and never will be. He's got it made in the shade really:

Don't kick goals, "where was the supply?"
Don't convert goals, "yeah but he's had a lot of shots on goal, we back I'm to kick those more often than not."
Kick a bag, "well thats why he's in the side only bloke we have who you never know, might kick a bag."

Will still be playing down there in Masto's 300th, and if its a home game he might kick a bag too.

Seeing Simmo identified leadership as an issue: can someone please post who our leadership group is? Let's put it on the record so we can monitor their performance in the leadership department this weekend. Thanks.

I don't think we can make wholesale changes but if you drop a player like Priddis or LeCras etc etc all of a sudden the playing group realise they mean business.
When Simmo declares during a post game interview that our leaders and senior players let us down and we refuse to make any hard calls then frankly the message isn't delivered with any authority.

One player cut that the playing group would never expect to be dropped sends a strong message that more is expected.

A good example would be Jake Stringer being dropped by the dogs last year before heading into finals after being all Australian the year before.

Difference is Beveridge shits all over Simpson

Bevo frankly shits all over a lot of coaches but in general the Dogs have been incredibly pro active the last few years and you could say that it contributed massively to them winning a premiership.

Moving on Adam Cooney, a club champion and brownlow medallist to play the youth.

Moving on Brendan McCartney to bring in Bevo because they didn't feel the direction they were heading under him was the right choice.
Yeah I know he resigned but he was moved on, we all know it's true. You don't resign after trade week, you resign before heading into the new season.

Overpaying for Boyd to consolidate a extremely talented youth in a position they desperately needed filled and in turn forcing the opposition club to trade him.

If we ever did any of the above I would go into cardiac arrest due to the shock.
