I have no problem with Dixon and Brennan rucking on their own. Honestly, I don't think Hickey has the body to compete with Giles. Dixon at least has the mass to bash and crash into the main GWS ruck. That, and both Dix and Brennan have good second and third efforts around the contest to get their own hit-outs.

Dixon shouldn't have an issue with fitness. He has slimmed down since 2011, likely in preparation for this sort of job. Not entirely worried. If he gets too tired, just stick him at FF, and have Brennan take over some more.

I'm a little concerned about Izzy. We have Warnock and May down there. Warnock likely to take Cameron, May to take the resting ruck. But who have we got left in the back-line to take the mini-hulk? McKenzie is going to get destroyed if he gets that role. I'm thinking maybe Jeremy Taylor might swing back into McKenzie's role, just to handle Folau.

Also, don't underestimate Phillips. He has very, very long arms!

Still extremely worried about this game. Expecting us to lose.

think positive.. we can do it!

Ok back in Brisbane now. Swallow was strapped up, from what looked thigh, and knee. Stanley didnt notice any strapping as seemed like a very very minor strain to hamstring. Both competed and trained freely, Swallow was jumping for marks off his knee fine, and saw a couple bursts from him. Stanley was harder to spot but still completed training. Swallow is a bit more noticeable with the way he moves. My eyes aren't the greatest at the best of times either...

Trained pretty sharply, everyone hit their targets. Only noticeable one was probably Dixon who missed a couple...but when your over 2m tall you can expect a long ball drop and a few strays ;) Intensity wasn't there so you'd expect the training to be pretty smooth and crisp, was just a light session about 40 min or so. The last 10 mins they split in the 1s and 2s. Fraser, Nicholls, Hickey all were with the reserves whether thats a sign or not.

Jaeger and Iles were just running laps together, couple 200m strides, but just laps.

Rischa was doing laps the whole time also with a trainer/physio, not sure didn't recognise him, Hunt was doing his own laps as well, then joined in with Rischa and trainer/physio.

Hutchins was doing laps, doing 200m the whole time, looked to have put a bit of weight on perhaps so might be working it off?

Prestia was doing slow laps. About same pace as Rischa, which was probably 6-7km/hr? So its a very slow trot.

Umm that's about all I can recall, maybe about 30 people at the ground in the stand near me where the big foundation wall mount thingy is with everyones names and photos.

All in all, it was very very basic session, barely any pressure or physicality. Was just a slow skills session for some light running basically. There was no contesting work which is fair enough at this time of the year and 24 hours before a game.

barely any pressure or physicallity you say SNC, sounds like match practice to me. ;)

haha not quite, it was mostly leading hitting targets around the ground.

Criss cross in the middle of the ground, then ball ups at various points on the ground...it was mostly at 1/2 to 3/4 pace you could say.

GWS has just now also lost Coniglio and Townsend so looks like your chances are increasing by the minute.

That evens things out a lot. The Coney Igloo iced us last time and that Townsend is a hard nut. Starting to feel confident about this game, which is a weird feeling when you follow the Suns. Just hope Dicko and Swallow can last the distance. We were on top last time until those two went down.
Can't wait. Going to sort out TheSunGoddess' stuff this morning, then off to the footy in the arvo. I was a bit sceptical at first but don't mind these twilight games now. Hurts the crowd numbers but you get home a bit earlier to watch the replay!!

Really, really want to sing the song at the end of this. I wanted to jump off the upper level of the Gabba the only time I heard it live at the end of a game. Hopefully if they can pull a win together I can enjoy it this time.

It would be more fun to hear the GWS theme song at the end of this game, and the GC song at the end of their home game against Carlton :D

I can't see us losing, too much is on the line. first win at Metricon and some positives going into the pre season. a loss would see that dark cloud over Blueys head again and probably rightly so.
You're kidding aren't you? The absolutely worst thing we could possibly do would be to sack our coach and start from scratch. We're only like a year and a half away. Anyway...

So pumped for today. Lynchy and Gazz to have blinders!
