I wouldn't be thrilled with picking either of Johnston or McKernan. Probably go with McKernan first up as it gives another ruck option with Jacobs being so bad and Jenkins not being a good 2nd ruck option. He needs a run to show he has something to offer at AFL level. You can make a case for either really.

Whilst the output of those players is down from last year, well except for Sloane who has been good, none are close to being dropped because their output still far exceeds players like DMack, Pets, Reilly, Hendo etc. When your stars are slightly down you can't afford to carry lesser lights who are also down. It's these players that make way for younger players who are screaming to be selected. There is no more risk of a blowout by playing kids than out of form b grade players.
That makes sense ......the midfield is some 25% down in output disposals andd efficiency also down

The problem is losing contested ball and clearances puts our defense under a lot more pressure ....which is where we blood the kids
It's unfair on the incoming kids to be put under the additional pressure created by our midfield ......in normal circumstances you would opt to add more experience to handle the additional pressure created

Look, please don't take this the wrong way as I'm a fan of Jarrad Lyons but his second game last year against Geelong only amounted 3 possessions and our midfield ran a riot that game in a 10 goal thumping.

His best game was his first against Port Adelaide and then his 3rd was against the Swans when started as the sub and then dropped.

I feel Lyons will be another very good long term player but his next 15 to 20 games, same as Kerridge will be up and down and not really show their true worth. Give them 50 games and then you will see how good they are going to be.

DMack is now playing wing and Pets up forward, it's these two that should be under the pump. Reilly realistically is safe but if we hadn't made so many changes he should also be under the pump. As for kids in defence, Laird, Brown, Talia and Smith are holding their own.

Given our season is looking glim we can afford to do that, plus we get a good pick :(

As for the Geelong game, was he sub?

Your facts are a little bit muddled. His second game was against Sydney where he came on half way through the last quarter. That was the game where he had 3 touches but it was also his best moments at AFL level.

His third game was against Geelong. He came on in the third quarter and had 9 touches and a goal (this game was won by half time though). The following week Vince returned from a hand injury and Lyons made way.

Cyrils gone... That helps everything bar my supercoach.

Pity you know nothing about footy and write young kids off after 1.5 games  ......so Lyons is the goods is he? ...a prey tell how have you come to the conclusion ...SANFL form ?
Lyons has one bad game and you'll say he's shit as well

Just for the record ....the 1.5 game player was playing on one of this games great players of all time .....no disgrace in having colours lowered
Also not uncommon for new players to be given tagging roles to learn the great players running patterns .....plus it's easier to be a negating player when you're learning

But of course you knew all that

No, see, Lyons could become the goods. Kerridge doesn't have any ability.

So when Sando says the midfield is the issue ,.....who do you think personnel wise he's referring to?

Wright? , Thompson?, Vince?, Douglas?

It seems to me this is the area that has to be rectified first? ......introduce Lyons and Riley both are clearance specialists
BUT they're going up against Hawthorns A-Grade experienced midfield ? .......but we have to make changes
Graham has to come in and give Jacobs a week off to reflect

Just don't see changing Pets and D_Mac makes much difference to the end result at this stage

How much do we hang on the teams fitness preparation under a new fitness coach? ......why is Jacobs, one of the best tap ruckmen, unable to get off the ground ? ....it's all puzzling

all the kids playing in SANFL COULD be ok ......but we won't know till they've played a few games ....but the coaches see them everyday and importantly know their personality and mindset

You have to trust the coaches judgement

That said .....it is impossible to judge Kerridge on his 1.5 AFL games ....impossible

Lyons and Riley would add to our midfield depth and as you've said they are clearance specialists.
Dropping Pets and DMack makes no difference to the result? You can't say that and do we keep underperforming players based on that assumption?
Graham will not be coming in. Rucci asked Campo today about Graham and he said Smack was the future of our club.

If Johnston does not come in for Tex, no point having him on the list as he will never come in.
not so .....Johnston is not IMO a KPP ....so he's not a like for like replacement for Walker

He may still however get picked if the selectors believe he's in better form than McKernan, or more reliable in terms of potential output

Wrong, we do not have to trust the coaches judgement. We've had enough examples where they have got it obviously wrong.

Some couldn't. Problem with Kerridge is he hasn't displayed one attribute to indicate there is anything AFL standard about him. Poor hands, no vigour at the contest, can't find the ball at all, uninspiring skills. You can't just tag and be shit at everything else. A ho hum prospect to begin with. Little to work with. Be surprised if he carves out a career, very surprised.

I'd be giving that spot to Lyons. Think the coaches will too.

BIG BIG Statement there by Campo ....hope he's right

No dropping D-Mac takes additional pace out of the side ....and that ATS is a real negative
If you drop someone like Pets then you have to have a replacement for the role .......IMO that can only be Wright who himself must be on shakey ground

But if Wright does replace Pets ....and I am not against that ....then Wrights role has to go to Riley and Lyons replaces Kerridge (if he is to be dropped???)

Really can't see the benefit of mainting Jacobs on current form ....unless he's carrying an injury which i doubt

Out: Petrenko, Walker, Kerridge, Brown

In: Johncock, Porplyzia, McKernan, Lyons

FFS - we get it, you don't like Sam Kerridge. You don't need to say it over and over in every single thread. How many post have you said this nonsense in today, 15 or 20?

You're not saying the supporters who don't watch training, more often don't watch their SANFL games, and no nothing of the players motivation and personality, are better judges

Of course we're not better judges ........we can judge skill sets, but not mental toughness or readiness for AFL

No-one here currently knows which of the SANFL players will make it in AFL
