do you mean on paper?Lyons continues to demand selection, but who drops out and why? I see his selection as reward for good form, but not materially improving the team.

And what changes do you make the following week when we lose by 150 due to a complete lack of experience and talent?
And we saw the downside of playing senior players out of position and out of form. We've got two young small defenders, one played half a game, the other 3/4qtrs. Carltons small forwards performance had very little to do with our two young small defenders. Yes Kerridge really struggled, but we are talking about a 3rd gamer versus a legend of the game when we are being smashed in the ruck.We saw the downside of youth tonight, with our young small defenders being carved up by Carlton's small forwards. Kerridge was given a masterclass by Judd. The absence of VB really hurt us.
Can we bring in McKernan to help out in the ruck? I would give him a go. 2 goals in the first quarter tonight. Maybe he could come in as the replacement for Walker? I would still look at LJ to come in though, as a natural forward. We lost this game first and foremost in the middle, so what can we do to fix that? Can we afford to persevere with Jacobs in his current form?
LJ for Tex is obvious. The biggest problem I have is that I can't see any players outside the team who would make it stronger.
I actually thought Kerridge did ok on Judd in the second half. Kept him to 7 possessions I think. If he was asked to follow Judd and keep him quiet, he did a pretty god job.We saw the downside of youth tonight, with our young small defenders being carved up by Carlton's small forwards. The problem I see is that we need run and carry still. Mackay should go out, but Lyons is not a direct replacement. Lyons for Wright maybe?Lyons continues to demand selection, but who drops out and why? I see his selection as reward for good form, but not materially improving the team.

I know cool is your middle name but when do you start to worry about our season going down the toilet? We've lost our best forward, we are being smashed in the middle and contested ball, our one and only ruckman is getting his arsed kicked and our only two wins have come against shit sides. If we had Carlton's draw we would be 0-5.This is spot on.
I'm amazed that some people are advocating throwing away a season at 2-3. When a gutter falls off their roof, do these folks knock down the whole house and build it again? There is a time and a place for this mentality but it's not today.
With Walker out, what we need is some class and experience up forward. One of either Porplyzia or Callinan (or both) coming back is a must.
But, there is also a chance for players like Lynch and Johnston to really make their mark. As always, it's about a balance. Lynch has done everything asked of him so far. He has been impressive.
Chill the **** out people. These changes threads ten minutes after a game are embarrassing.

Mackay and Reilly were nowhere near as bad as the BigFooty collective would have you believe. The BigFooty collective seems to think that senior players should be perfect in every way, never missing a target by hand or foot. Welcome to the real world.Meh. At least we'll be getting games into younger players. Would rather lose by 150 and plan for the future than lose by 120 and play for now
Which players in my "outs" do you think deserve to keep their spots?
(Also I said that not all of these will happen.)
He, from now on, is a forward. What no one wants Jaenschy out???
Yes, out of the backlineWhat no one wants Jaenschy out???
Reilly was atrocious Vader...Mackay and Reilly were nowhere near as bad as the BigFooty collective would have you believe. The BigFooty collective seems to think that senior players should be perfect in every way, never missing a target by hand or foot. Welcome to the real world.

The only reason I wouldn't drop Jacobs is we have no one else. I wouldn't drop Vince as I thought he was ok.So deciding in April that the season is shot, and dropping players like Jacobs, playing a team younger than GC and GWS helps this situation?
Yes I said April.
On paper or on the ground. That said, it depends who he replaces. Replacing Mackay or Reilly is silly. Petrenko on the other hand gave us nothing tonight - and anything Lyons gives us has to be better than that.do you mean on paper?
You are obviously happy with mediocrity and not playing in a grand final for 22 years.Mackay and Reilly were nowhere near as bad as the BigFooty collective would have you believe. The BigFooty collective seems to think that senior players should be perfect in every way, never missing a target by hand or foot. Welcome to the real world.
The reality is that our midfield at the moment is complete shite. In part that's due to Jacobs' complete lack of form. In part it's due to Dangerfield's knee injury. In part it's due to a general lack of confidence which seems to have infected the entire side. In any case, the end result is that the ball is coming into our back line in higher quantity and quality than it did last year, placing our defenders under extreme pressure. Reilly & Mackay aren't perfect, but they're nowhere near as bad as the mob-think is making them out to be.
Yes our midfield is in terrible form, but how that excuse Reilly consistently missing targets 25m away when under no pressure?Mackay and Reilly were nowhere near as bad as the BigFooty collective would have you believe. Personally, I'd be replacing Tex with LJ and Jacobs with Graham, until Jacobs gets fit, recovers confidence or fixes whatever it is that's wrong with him. Petrenko was just too ineffective today and Jaensch really showed him up when he was moved forward (which is good for Jaensch because he was stinking like something dead for several weeks while playing in defence). Dropping Petrenko would free up a slot for Lyons, bolstering our flagging midfield. That said, Jaensch has to be more than a cheap seagull if he's to continue playing - he has to kick goals and do the defensive job that Petrenko had mastered.
You manage their entry into the game, taking advantage of the inevitable injuries (eg LJ replacing Tex next week). Knee jerk reactions such as what you're suggesting are the first step on the highway to mega-failure.When do they gain the experience oh wise one?
And if they don't have the talent, why are they on an AfL list?
We're not talking about playing CEY, Joyce, or any of those players still playing SANFL reserves. We're actually talking about players in good SANFl form.
So what? That's only relevant if the senior players were performing and being let down by the kids.I know this might be slightly heretical.. but has anyone considered that Adelaide's team tonight had an average age of 24yrs 1mth and 68.9 games, compared to Carlton's 25yr 9mth and 99.2 games. Making our team younger and less experienced is unlikely to make our team improve.
For the record, of the 10 teams to have played so far this weekend, only GC & GWS fielded younger teams (Richmond's was 2mths older than Adelaide's).
That's the wrong question, it should read who wants Jaenschy to play as a defender or forward? What no one wants Jaenschy out???
to me, Tambling much come in of Mackay is out.On paper or on the ground. That said, it depends who he replaces. Replacing Mackay or Reilly is silly. Petrenko on the other hand gave us nothing tonight - and anything Lyons gives us has to be better than that.
my knee jerk...
out: Tex inj, Brown inj, Petrenko, Henderson, McKay.
in: Graham, Riley, Tambling, Lyons, and Porplyzia or Johncock.
