Thats right but Silvagni is not Dawsons replacement. Silvagni would get murdered by Roughhead or Hale and is to slow for Gunston
That will have to come from Luke or Johno covering Roughie and Hale and Ibbo to Gunston
Perhaps the club will just pick Ibbo and back the guys in to cover them with team defence. We don't have a direct replacement for Zac available so will have to make do.

Out: Fyfe, Barlow
Like for like replacement are Neale, Ibbotson (with someone moving forward from the back flank).

Sylvia, Crozier are chances but I doubt they will come in.

Possible Hannath out for Clarke.
Potentially, you could bring Crozier in. Put him on the HFF and throw deBoer into the middle.

Tanner is gone for a while.
Clark to follow Hale around?
Its tough to find matchups
Thank **ck Buddy's not there
McPharlin would be licking his lips, he holds him to minimal goals each and every time. We' ll have to punish Hale's forward play by making sandi and/or Hannath Clarke go forward to match up on their lack of height. Clarke can match Hale for verasity as well as beat him around the ground with his speed and stamina.

I was the one advocating Clarke playing the Dusty Fletcher role in defence.

Everybody thought I was mad. Who's laughing now .... Mwuahahahahahahahahah ... err. ahem.

I'd have liked to see us try it in the preseason scratchies first. It's a bit of a baptism of fire throwing him against probably the best forward line in the AFL with no practise in that possy. For now I'd advocate Ibbo if fit, or Silvagni if he's not.

Put him on Hale. Really then it becomes ruckman v ruckman. He can then follow Hale into the ruck too. Luke obviously gets Roughy, and Johnno to stay as a floating tall/rebounder. I think Ibbo is a good choice to come in for Gunston. He'll I'd risk Spurr on Gunston. Mids - options are Sylvia, Neale, and Morra. Morra very outside chance of course, but he's been training for a while now so Cardio won't be an issue, it's touch, and whether or not the fitness staff think his knee is up to it.

not a bad idea but i guess my only knock is that imo hale is better forward than people give him credit for.

De Boer could spend some time on the ball, especially if S.Mitchell isn't playing. He's quite good at this when given the chance. It's going to be difficult to replace Barlow and Fyfe but I'm sure Ross will get the clipboard out i.e. Collingwood last year. (Who was missing in that game again? Fyfe, Hill + Griffin out early?)

I agree. But I think that the main targets will be Roughy and Gunston, which will give Zac some breathing space. Plus, Zac is a great mark around the ground. If it came down to a long ball coming in I'd back Zac to be more than an even money chance of out marking Hale. I also think at ground level Zac would be more agile and have a better tank. Plus, if we're able to keep Johnno doing what he does best (which is playing that floating 3rd tall and rebounder role) he'll be able to drift across and help Zac out. Not only that, but our defence in general will be better off than if we relegate MJ to a 'lockdown' role. Putting Zac on Hale is still a risk though.

it is funny to admit that losing dawson affects our offensive drive out of defense :)

Have I stumbled into bizzaro land or is this notion of playing Zac Clarke in defence an April fool joke ?

Seriously, Zac clarke outmarking David Hale in defence ? If that was the case Zac, like Hale, would be doing sweet FA rucking and be stationed in our FWD 50 as the marking target we've been seeking for eons.
Get a grip peeps, there will be a slight reshuffle in Dawsons absence but there's no need for re-inventing the wheel. It's common knowledge that our defence is built on the back 6 understanding each other and having an in depth knowledge how each and every man plays so that all 6 combined efforts overcome forward entries of the opponant. So we de-stabilize that formula by throwing a guy in who's never played nor trained in defence and doesn't have an in depth knowledge of defensive structures or play....sure.

Ibbo most likely to come in and jhonno and Macca will shuffle up as mentioned, or possibly silvagni coming in on a like-for like .

I hope to hell clarke plays....... in replacement of Hannath not Dawson.

My Tuesday prediction, which is a chance to change throughout the week.

Out - Fyfe, Dawson, Barlow, Hannath
In - Neale, Silvagni, Crozier, Clarke

Playing Neale, Crozier & Sheridan in the same team against the reigning premiers is really pushing it. Have a lot of doubts Sylvia will play, though if available I think he should. Still not convinced Clarke will play either.

I have been considering Sylvia but surely he needs to play a full game of WAFL before he is considered.

Apologies for intruding, but just wanted to let you guys know that Luke Hodge was just on MMM Radio, and basically said he, Sewell and Stratton won't be playing this week, but Mitchell should play after training well today.
Was 100% expecting Mitchell to play. Cheers for the info.

Great time to test our depth and to get some games into younger players.

In: Neale, Crozier and Ibbo.
Out: Barlow, Fyfe and Dawson

I think the best way to battle Hawthorns forwards is up the field. We currently have no one to replace Dawson so Bring in Ibbo to create some flexibility in defence and ask for great effort from Neale and Croz.

Thank f*ck for that.

No apologies necessary. Cheers for the update.

Depth is there, but it would seem there isn't enough match preparation for those in waiting.

So who is ready to go? That's what matters the most.

Neale
Sylvia (?)
Ibbotson (?)
Crozier
Silvagni (?)
C Pearce (?)

Those with (?) may not have enough fitness I'm lead to believe.

I think if Ibbotson comes in, with Neale, the next hardest is choosing who takes that extra midfield spot. The only one who can possibly get near the level of Barlow/Fyfe in that group is Sylvia, IMO.
