You go to all of this trouble naming teams for both sides and talking shit and you don't even know that Tanner Smith did his hammy?
I forgot he did his hammy, I did look at the injury list after I made the comment.

I am correct that if O'Brien plays then we will be one tall short, although Silvagni is apparently barely fit so not sure what other talls we have.

geez you blokes are conservative eejits.

Pav on to Roughhead.

A. Pearce to Hale.

Mayne to Gunston.

Son-son to Cyril.

Balla to Bruest.

Silvagni, McPharlin, MJ, Crozier and Simpson to all go forward.

It is far better to try these things early in the season you know.:thumbsu:

Ibbo in for Dawson
Neale in for Fyfe
Sylvia in for Barlow
Clarke in for Hannath

De Boer moves into the midfield to play Barlow's role. Ibbo plays on Gunston (I don't think it's that much of a mismatch). Neale gets a full run in the guts, he is our best accumulator currently outside the 22.
Sylvia to be the sub.

Suban needs to step up in this game to fill the midfield void, we need a bullocking beast. Likewise, with Hodge and Mitchell unlikely, Crowley needs to play a little more offensively. I don't see a logical match-up for creepy, although Burgoyne could get some attention. He's freed up quite a bit with the Hawks out, so I expect him to be looking to clear the ball more at centre stoppages with a less formidable opponent. (Not a knock on Burgoyne, but I doubt he's been tagged much in his time at the Hawks)

Having watched them live last week against us, I'd be targetting Burgoyne with a Crowley tag, even if Mitchell plays. Burgoyne has been there best over the first two rounds, and is very good around the stoppages. He is also a lot more penetrating with the ball than their other mids.

Someone like Mzungu could go to Hill or Smith. Neither player likes it physical.

I think Ibottson could play on Gunston. Gunston is a clever play, but he doesn't take contested grabs. If Johnson misses as well as Dawson, I'd be picking Silvagni. I obviously don't see him as much as you guys, but surely he could match up with Hale at the very least.

Is it known who flew over? I'd guess Ibbotson would be a certainty. Crozier looked good in preseason, and might give you something up forward. I rate him very highly. What's the deal with Clancee Pearce? I thought he'd be in your best 22.

It worked out well in the GF with Gunston when Ibbo didnt play.

Yeah, Gunston only kicked a bag because Ibbo wasn't out there...

I'd play Silvagni on Gunston with chop outs from Johnno when necessary, Silvagni will also be more effective at nullifying Hale and McEvoy when they drift forward. Gunston isn't the frail 3rd tall you guys make him out to be and attracts a genuine key defender IMO.

Ibbo isn't much of a defender, hope you aren't being too revisionistic here, it's no surprise his best footy came last year when he was mostly unaccountable in defence.

Having said that if it indeed rains we can probably get away with Ibbo on him.

Silvagni's not over there is he?
There is a reason he is not a first choice defender.
He might be able to cope with Gunston but that would be a pretty big hail Mary.

Creepy should be tagging Hill. The result will be two fold, bugger all run and carry for the Hawks. Our Hill will also get a big lift when he see's his little brother copping it.

Yeah, Gunston only kicked a bag because Ibbo wasn't out there...

A big part of the reason Gunston kicked a bag was the Hawks deliberately pulled Buddy up high, keeping Elvis out of our D50 (and trying to wear him out... with some success), which meant that he couldn't help out in the D50 and roll off his man. With Ibbo out of the team, and Elvis chasing Buddy around up the ground our ability to control the air was compromised. Was easier to isolate Gunston vs. Dawson and Duff, and he killed them both.

Unless they sacrifice Roughy in the same way, Gunston should find their F50 more congested... and those one-on-ones harder to find.

Dawson does seem to sometimes have a bit of trouble sometimes with shorter-smarter-skinnier KPF/third tall types. Generally goes well on bigger forwards and talls.

Clarke traveled yeah? He can fly back to play for Peel Saturday, right?
Would be disappointing to have him travel and not play him again.
Maybe I'm reading into it a bit too much, but Ceglar is an emergency. Not sure how common it is for teams to have a ruck as emergency if they're playing two experienced rucks that aren't underdone.
