Exactly. Tabs was a raw prospect that always tried and competed. At least he gets to contests and was elite fit when he was developing.
Mccarthy is just not a forward right now. Doesn't do any of that. Bad coaching? Poor conditioning? I don't know. But Mccarthy looks nothing like a footballer.
All the raves about brininging him over, and right now it's not good.

Probably too many. Hughes deserves to stay in, he's working his way back into it.
Sheridan, Suttclife, Tucker are just not up to it. Tucker perhaps has one more level to hit, hoping. But Suttclife- he's done on our list. Sheridan same.

Ballas is probably not gonna happen, he's injured. Brayshaw and Bennell will change our midfield big time.

The game was lost in the midfield. Hopefully Sandi/Darcy can give us the edge next week. SHill needs to be in the guts this week, Neale needs some help. Bennell can rotate through the midfield with Mundy/Walters. Brayshaw's two-way running/tackling should help aswell.

I really think that a win this week would be very important to developing a winning culture.

Bring in Darcy and Sandilands (if fit)for Jones and McCarthy. I really liked what Johnson gave us against the Bombers.

Bennell in for Sutcliffe.

Tucker out S Hill in (if Fit).

He missed a whole year 2 years ago. If anything we could forgive last year. Tis why I personally didn’t hammer him last year. No excuses this year.

What exactly is a positive from him? He’s taking an undeserved spot in the best 22 and playing poorly. Not just out of form poor, but criminally bad poor.

Let’s not kid ouselves here. If his name was Strnadica and a rookie he wouldn’t be getting a game. Don’t think any supporter could dispute that. He’s getting a game based on his name and ‘hope’ he comes good. All the evidence is pointing to the contrary.

I wanted for him to compete fiercely so much yesterday. Wasn’t even overly worried on stats, but he just loses 1-1 battles ALL the time.

There were times when he leaped early or late. I mean who the hell junps for a mark only to watch it sail 2m over his head. The guy is so out of form I’d rather play with 17 on the field then watch it rebound off his ineptitude.

He played all last year . How much time does he need?I am looking at the positives , I think he looks far better in teal than purple . In fact i am positive he does.
Footnote . Is he playing well enough to be a best 22 for Peel? He is playing that bad that even that is debatable.

The best we can hope is that McCarthy is the type of guy who steps up in the last year of a contract when the whips are cracking.

Needs a massive preseason.

I agree with this, he started the year ok. He towelled up Steven May versus Gold Coast. He looks banged up. Have a close look at the pic on Instagram where the players are in the water at the beach. Half his flank is purple with a bruise. He’s playing injured. Same as Walters.

You’re thinking of Sam Day. Steven May is the gun backman who captains Gold Coast.

Tabs was never playing that bad, people on here judged him extremely harshly. It made no sense, now they fan boy him. If he plays a few quiet ones, I'm sure those same people will bag him again. I've always been a Tabs fan.

I can't help thinking we're going to be disappointed this week when they say Bennell isn't quite ready or something.

We could definitely beat them at full strength. Sadly we are a long way off that.
