Bloody hawks this week. Great.

The GTFO's are:

McCarthy. Those one on one losses are draining.

This probably isn't the thread for it - but went down to the Chelsea match last night and the atmosphere was incredible. Constant chanting and singing, kids really getting into it; everyone lively and no one bothered what the man next to them thought.

This is in contrast to some more recent experiences at Freo games where the vibe has sat somewhere between genuflection and Holy Communion. Mind you, we were getting pumped in some of those games but I really think some fans need to take the chip off their shoulders and just enjoy themselves. The game's expensive enough without conning yourself into having a crap time.

I really hope we start bringing the noise for the last few home games, because we'll sitting on the sidelines in September and I want the youngsters to feel like the purple army are right behind them.

Hawthorn are really our bogey team ,would be really fulfilling to roll them this week. Would be almost the highlight of the year and then to top it off to roll the weagles. It would really make it a satisfying finish for the end of the year

The buzz was pretty good at the start of the season.i think freo ****ing with the seating and splitting up the little communities that developed over years of shared success and pain has muted us a bit

I am hopeful that Strnadica will get a go this week. I really think he will be better than Jones or Meek but needs opportunity now. Snads is the ideal duo to go with Darcy and against Hawthorn -I think they will do well. Also like to see
Crowden and Gray in to help nullify Mitchell and apply tackle pressure, Harley yes but I get nervous if he is not leg ready.

I hope we keep going with bringing in the young guys before years out instead of trying to save the year with a few wins hope North will be in after this week in WAFL.

To be fair to the crowd and without dragging this into a ross gameplan bashing it is hard to get the crowd pumping when you are averaging 9 goals a game as we have in our last 4 games at optus.

We managed to scrag 2 wins in low scoring games.

Haven't had much luck with weather.

I am sure the essendon game at the start of the year where we won and got our highest score of the year the crowd i would imagine was pumping that night.

I don't think supporters are overly fickle.

Win and they come back.
Lose but be entertaining and they come back.
Lose but be shit house? You'll see a drop off.

So we just need to avoid being shit house. From memory we were shit house against Brisbane only... North? maybe a touch.

I thought the Rd 2 atmosphere was amazing - excepting finals, one of the best Dockers games I've ever been to. First game at the new stadium helped but the atmosphere was electric throughout the game. Vs Gold Coast the following week almost as good. But it seems to have got gradually worse and worse since then.

I don't think it's just about Freo's performances. I kind of felt like the stadium was different after those first two games at home. Music turned down perhaps? I don't know what it is but they need to go back and remember what they had in Rd 2 and rediscover some of it imo. Are they responding to some minority whining about it being too _____? I remember in 2015 they'd get the crowd pumped before the ball was even bounced. Why don't they do that anymore? I get that we aren't winning games like we were back then but at home our record still seems good enough to justify it?

Maybe I'm not in the majority but I really don't get the obsession with needing lots of goals for it to be exciting either? Kind of feel like the AFL and media is trying to brainwash people into thinking free flowing football is the best to watch. And I don't want to see stoppage after stoppage or everyone congested around the ball either but I also don't want to watch a game of netball/tennis. I enjoy watching guys use their skills to win the ball and burst out of stoppages far more than the yawn fest set shot goals you see these days. The only goals that get me excited are the ones in general play and a lot of those ironically come from either stoppages or guys running into an open 50 on a fast break because they've broken through the congestion ;) I'm not sure what the answer is but I do find the AFL's scattergun approach based on a myopic pov incredibly amateur.

We're 9-19 during Ryan's 28 game career.

0-9 when he has 14 or less disposals.
2-7 when he has 15-20 disposals.
7-3 when he has 21+ disposals.

7-5 when he has 14+ kicks.
2-14 when he has less than 14 kicks.

Nice stats.
Some additional complexity, with Ryan in the side, we are 7-7 in Perth (incl. GC game this year), 2-12 away.
So wondering if there is a relationship between home/away and Ryan's influence on the game.

Of the ≤14 disposal games, 3 were at home, 6 away
Of the ≥21 disposal games, 7 at home, 3 away

Whether that is our ability to free his role up more at home, or if he is better at home, I'm not sure, but that seems to be part of the picture.

20 or less disposals

v top 8 @home: 0-3.
v top 8 away: 0-8.
v bottom 10 @ home: 0-3.
v bottom 10 away: 2-2.

14+ kicks

v top 8 @ home: 1-1.
v top 8 away: 0-3.
v bottom 10 @ home: 5-1.
v bottom 10 away: 1-0.

13 or less kicks

v top 8 @ home: 0-2.
v top 8 away: 0-7.
v bottom 10 @ home: 1-3.

I agree... I don't want every game to look the same! A low scoring defensive slog can be amazing when you are riding on every kick... it's so game dependent. I thought I would like a more free flowing game, but after watching that abomination of aflx I realised I really don't. Scoring can be great, but defensive work can also be great... the congestion followed by free play... each game is unique. As it should be. The only stuff that is really boring is a flogging. Unless it's freo doing the flogging. Then it's highly entertaining.

And I'm really really tired of losing to hawthorn. Every time it happens, it's so predictable and it just reminds me of 2013 too.

Would like to see Darcy and Brayshaw in. And of course, Bennell is the dream. I wouldn't care if he resurrected his career at another club. I just want to see him play!!!
