I have to admit, my biggest concern this week is Lloyd Meek.
Oscar got dominated by Meek in the game against the Hawks last year and with him not in great form and with injury concerns and Fort not exactly in great form either, the last thing our midfield needs is another game chasing tail after silver service by another pretty good ruck.
Taking it another step, our biggest concern at the present time is our midfiled. Pleanty of opposing mids dont have a ruckman in the mix who wins the tap outs but plenty still find a way to win the clearance. Right now thats where we are struggling the most.

Other teams are going to win clearances, we can’t completely stop that. We do have a good clearance team as long as they are up for the fight but in the last 2 weeks in particular they haven’t.
If Meek get on top then a similar situation may unfold and our mids will be made to look just as bad again.

For one reason or another we only have a handful of players who are playing their best footy at the moment. Other clubs put more time into the defending champs, injuries occur, just general form slumps. Better to happen now when there is still a chance to rectify it. Right now we need to work on our pressure acts - good things just happen when this happens.

My take on it is that we really busted our gut in those first few games and eyeing off the draw the players mentally drop off that 5% against the lesser teams , are a bit sore and tired , a little bit of R/R in Tassie and all of a sudden you find yourself struggling against any opposition. The short pre season has come home to roost now.

Overall we're still in a good position if we can win one of the next 2 and regroup. It was evident during the last 2 games that we always thought we were going to win. But when Harris has the brain fades he's had twice you can tell we're a bit antsty at not staying in control of both games. What he was trying to do with Melksham's drink bottle who would know , maybe just worry about getting the footy and not letting your opponent know that he's gotten inside your head.

Brandon Starcevich still 3-5 weeks away is a worry, 1 more concussion if he gets back at all is probably the end of his career :( .

How untimely is it having Day, Smith and Ryan all out at the same time, all 3 a minimum of 4 weeks away, wretched luck for them and the team.

It is line with what Fagan has said about his return. It's mostly just rebuilding him back up to match fitness after recovering from the concussion and getting clearance to return. Timeline is generally what we expected from previous reports too.
Starcevich, who hasn’t played since Round 1, will move into full training and have his training loads further increased over the next few weeks to develop into match demands.
The Club is hopeful Starcevich could return to play in approximately the next month.
Hopefully he doesn't get anymore concussions though.

It's actually great for Starce - not rushing and will be fully fit by the time he returns. He'd be frothing at the bit to play.

So Starc,Day,Smith ready to roll post bye.
Genuine smile atm.

Just need to get a few more wins on the board and set ourselves for the second half of the season. Know we are capable of it and am confident the boys will be hungry enough as we enter the business end of the season. Sort the midfield out, get our reinforcements in and good luck to the opposition.

I think the last 2 weeks midfield performance has been address Lachie said today we have to lift our pressure and get our hunt back good to see its been spoken about.
Starc will tighten up the defensive which in turn will make Harris play better.
Day and Smith will give a true target to kick too and bring our smalls into it also...they may not have big goal kicking games but will balance the team more than playing O and Fort together.
Fingers crossed we peak at the right time as I feel we have already used 3 get out of jail cards this season.

The great thing about our problems is they're not unfixable. We know the talent is there to deliver. You don't start 7-1-2 unless it's there.

Although frustrated by the effort the last 2 weeks i failed to take into account the boys have had 4 losses and a draw in the last 25 games.

Highly unlikely..in fact zero chance in my opinion.
Maybe.

But concussion is a mental thing and getting confidence at training is very different to a game.
A big difference to Berry returning after one week out of the game.
Starch will not have played for 14 and possibly 16 weeks going on the timeframe listed on the Lions injury report.
I don't care how good you are, that's too long without an actual game.

I was very supportive of Day playing that role.
A lot on BF were not, but many started to change their mind only for him to get injured.
He has a history of injury and easing him back via the VFL would be wise in my opinion.

Who knows Gardiner may get some relief ruck duties and fill that role.
