Agree. Him and Harmes just negating each other’s performances -_- .
Unless Viney starts looking more like his best self, he and Harmes seem like one-too-many of the same role. I think where there is a clear tagging role on an oppo midfielder I would choose Harmes, because those roles seem to elevate his game, and if not I would play Viney - purely on a historical runs-on-board basis and in the hope that game time will get him back to 2018 v Geelong finals form.

For next week I would contemplate resting Harmes for Sparrow, but won’t mind greatly if we go with no change. Just ****ing win it dees. Preferably convincingly in more than just the last quarter

I actually wouldn't mind if we lost this, good for Frosty.

Head to head should be the primary tiebreaker in all scenarios, from AFL to world cups etc. Percentage needs to be reworked also, if kept as the secondary tiebreaker, but I also like the idea of some variant of the away wins/away goals system

Incidentally we would have finished 7th in 2017 with a H2H system. Also means that we still would have finished 9th in 2020 if the Dogs had lost to Fremantle in the last round like we were hoping for. Would also be good for us this year, if separating the top sides given we’ve beaten all of them (so far).

You should thump us by 100+, we've lost 2 of our best defenders possibly 3 if the other doesn't return + 3 more of our best players are out all defenders and that's not even counting Gunston/Wingard etc. Genuine 100+ smashing probs 150+. We're also 17th.
Just a bit of tongue and cheek. I highly doubt it will be 100 plus though. We just don't thump teams probably looking at about 8 goal. Something like winning each quarter by 2 goals is more our go.

This is Sam Frost appreciation round, we shall celebrate the great man. Anti-Frost movements will not be tolerated
It’s not, you know regardless of the spurious and disconnected manner in which the AFL sometimes direct marquee events.

This reminds me of when I invented international day of cats - which I did entirely to promote our team leaving the office early on a Friday for the pub to celebrate. Without my knowing it, the shit got traction and HR person organised an agency-wide cake baking drive for charity to the RSPCA. It was super awkward coming up with the keynote speech for the Melbourne branch, eating brownies with little whisker faces and having to award spot prizes for photos printed on the cat appreciation board display

Not really. Even today there are 3 teams on 32 points making up places 9, 8 and 7.

The head to head tie breaker is a good idea though.

Ah, fair enough. Love the H2H idea. Would only happen every few years which would make it novel and fills the role of the 'wildcard round' without adding more teams into the mix unnecessarily.

It’s good because WCE and Essendon for example could be competing for 8th spot. WCE finished 5th last year and Essendon finished 13th. Essendon kicked off their run this year by beating WCE, but prior to that game WCE possibly didn’t think Essendon would be a real threat and maybe didn’t take them seriously.

Similarly the Swans finishing 16th last year could very potentially be competing with Brisbane who finished 2nd for a top 4 spot. On a H2H basis the Swans upset Brisbane in R1 this year - the retrospective drama of that game determining top 4 would be huge.

Re-emphasises the idea of how much every game counts, because you never know what the ladder implications might be

Change makes a ton of sense, but probably not the week to do it after Petty played so well.

I think a couple of players look tired. Jordan; and Rivers for starters, who has been named often on interchange, over recent weeks. And possibly ANB could also earn a rest, in a couple of weeks time.
But I think the time for change, will come for the Darwin game. A sapping environment.

IMO, that is the perfect game to rest some who are fatiguing. The next two weeks we have the Hawks at the 'G'; then the Suns up in the Humid North.
The Suns game should be the one for some to miss. It's tough on the bigger guys, and with the humidity comes sloppy skills. The perfect time to bring in some smaller players with higher skill-levels and run. IMV.

They're resting Trent in game, had low time on ground last 2 weeks. No rest required plus he's still dominating

The Hawthorn Tanks are circling, right in sight of the End of season, and Mad Monday.

And a present for Sammy Mitchell, in the form of an early pick to kick-start his campaign.

I'm 90% sure Dimma and Day who are 2 of our better players in defense and in general. Might play like 5% chance of that most likely not, CJ did a knee and was one of our biggest runners, Impey ankle, Day and Dimma most likely out with Scrimshaw concussion that's all our class and run gone basically.

Gunston, Sicily been gone for a while.

Wingard gone too.

Should be a very big win for you.

Day is injured?

Day is injured?
Yep Day did his ankle in the last minute or so in the GWS game where he was BOG.
Was the same ankle he had surgery on and it was meant to be right to play the week or two after but hasn't settled, was in a moon boot and crutches. Got rid of the moonboot the other day so he might be okay in a couple weeks this week depends on how the swelling and pain is. Given his age and the injury he had prior on that ankle we might not risk him.

Damn that sucks, he is an absolute gun.

all your half backs are dead, Impey, Day, CJ, Hardwick. Sucks because along with Frosty, that's how you generate your scores. Frostdog gotta have a big one
