Really like those changes. With McDonald playing a more directive role extracting the ball from the backline, clearly, Shaw doesn't want him to play a lockdown role then force him to have that offensive touch at the same time. The Williams inclusion is a direct solution to that.

Hall was simply all over the place last week and needed to be dropped. Same for Polec. Both were simply not good enough.

Wood inclusion is an interesting one. The impression I'm getting from that is Wood needs to impress now or he's another 'cya later'.

Hosie was more than likely managed and will get a string of games to show what he can do. Potential wildcard.

Walker another managed player should see him get more involved.

The Pittard omission was warranted. Does not seem to be playing all that well considering his 2019 form set the bar high. Hasn't got back to that level of performance at all this year.

Daw omission is a reasonable one. After such a long time away from AFL standard footy, he definitely needs a rest.

Murphy should go alright as well.

EVW inclusion is wonderful news. Hope he plays really well considering how patient we've been. Hope it turns out like a Tarrant-esque run of games!
Lmac role be interesting this week.... will he be back in his lockdown tagged role on Neale... assuming Williams goes to cc

A lot of assumptions around who's getting rewarded for poor form, who is on their last chance and who is being rested or managed or punished or being given a string of games. The simple fact is that we have a long injury list and a lot of battered bodies trying to back up after 4 days breaks. We are sending out a team that can walk onto the field. That's all. We have very few players in reserve. The fact that we have unbalanced talls to smalls, or backs to forwards, or mids being played out of position is not about clever or dumb tactics or trying something new so much as it is getting a vaguely healthy team out on the park.

While maybe some truth in that, it doesn't overly make sense... the fact that we have ahern fit and ready and has played back half this ssn means we have chosen to go tall not forced to go tall.....

There can be only one...
So in addition to Thomas, Scott and Curtis Taylor who else and how would we have got them?

When would we gave taken Taylor instea? At 10 ... or 30?
It is difficult/subjective to say who else we would have got because us taking player X or Y might have changed players other clubs went after as a consequence.

However, I do think we missed out on an opportunity to significantly expand the amount of talent we could have taken in the draft. It most likely impacted the decision to get rid of the people involved in our trading.

I am very happy with us getting Taylor and Scott as third round picks, don't think anyone can fault the club on who we took with the picks we had, for where we were at the decision to get the mature players we did seemed more like s bid to save the career of various people at the club rather than do what was best for the club.
