i heard brad ebert on the radio over here 6pr, and he said that SPP had been down on form and below what was expected of him and what he expected of himself and that he'd be playing a couple of weeks in the reserves to earn his spot back in the senior lineup.

SPP has been down but considering his aweful performace and leadership against your mob is think Ebert would want to keep his mouth shut.

Not sure if someone's done their sums there. Unless "a couple" has changed from meaning two to one there is no way SPP could come back into the team unless we make finals. Port had the bye this week so SPP didn't play any kind of football this weekend.
But SPP should be back in as soon as he looks ready, not after two weeks. If we want to make finals then SPP has to be put back in as soon as he shows some form, hopefully after 1 reserves game or even just some good training runs. His smash would have been useful in the last game where it was not skill but running through packs that was required once we were trying to protect a lead.

At the very least, Billy should have played against GWS and Bulldogs in Ballarat.
I honestly think looking back over the season, the 3 talls of Dixon, Marshall and Watts was just starting to gel when Ryder got injured. Instead of bringing in one of the other ruckman, we broke that dynamic and it seems our forward line has been unbalanced since. I would love to see Billy start this week but it’s way to late and I think our season has comprised as a result.

If Hinkley couldn't guide this list to even 1 top 4 finish since 2013 then there is no point just making up the numbers and getting embarrassed in week 1 of finals. The list we built hasn't delivered and we need to rebuild again. We've seen enough evidence over the last 4 years that we are going nowhere with this core group.
Interesting comments, RossFC.
Richmond fans were scarred by the consecutive elimination finals losses, 2013-15, and the 2016 mediocrity.
We brought in Nankervis, Prestia, Caddy and the assistant coaches.
Port has the nucleus of a top side but as you say changes need to be made.
Overall, everyone in Melbourne, apart from Collingwood fans, wants the Power to win.
Best wishes.

It’s hard to disagree with the idea that we could benefit with Dixon’s absence. I love the guy, but our forward half play has been so incredibly awful for years now, that maybe this forces a philosophy shift.

Wishing thinking at its finest, but at this point just about anything goes I’d say.

That's not entirely his fault though.

He's not a natural leader to the footy, but we give him no space to run into. It's more so "Here Chuck, mark this"

Get them in: Ruckman Billy Frampton will likely make his debut if Paddy Ryder is ruled out. Jack Hombsch could come in to allow Dougal Howard to ruck. Sam Powell-Pepper, Riley Bonner and Jack Trengove will also be considered.

Under the pump: Third-gamer Kane Farrell was quiet in the Power's loss to West Coast, but plays an important role with his forward pressure.

Medical room:Charlie Dixon (leg) is out for the season, while Ryder (hip flexor), Jared Polec (hamstring) and Dan Houston (neck) are in doubt.

Verdict: In: Frampton and Hombsch. Out: Dixon and Ryder. Howard to start forward, changing with Frampton in the ruck. - Lee Gaskin

Hombsch has a turning circle of a Mack Truck. He's in terrible form and would be a liability if they brought him in.

Yep, Hombsch should finish the year with McKenzie in the Maggies.

Haha, when you look back over the first two and a half quarters of round one?

I actually thought we looked good for the first few rounds. New forward line but we were kicking some decent scores.
