We called it Flying High! Why the name change.

No one knows really, but the popular consensus is that there were a lot of disaster movies released in cinemas and direct to tv in the US around the time so most there would get that it was a parody of them, whereas in other countries we didn’t get nearly as much exposure to the genre so they went with something more explicitly stated.

******* **** campaigner****s ******* campaigner campaignery campaigners shitting campaigner ****s ******* pick a ******* tall player for once you ******* morons this is so unbelievably ******* ******

Pumped a million ******* games into short people that are more common than sand at a beach but god help us do we wanna play a ******* tall once in a ******* while. Noooooooooooo

They’ll just magically appear. And by magically I mean we will have to trade for whatever tall is available because this ******* team and coach thinks I don’t know what he thinks because it doesn’t make ******* sense. ******* moron

Next year Ryder will likely play even less games and come this off season so we know if we have a ******* capable back up ? No we don’t because when Ryder went down we rucked the **** out of every player who had something resembling form.

Whose the next inform player we would like to put into the ruck so we can **** him up. I swear we could ******* put Ricciuto in charge right now and his intentional sabotage would probably do less ******* damage than what has been done this year.

I don’t normally melt but this is beyond the joke of ******* jokes

The last ******* straw. We’ve pissed a ******* season away that easily could have gone another way but for the fact we literally ****** ourselves with a big old rusty piece of steel with jagged edges and acted surprised when it hurt and thought the solution would be to add another piece of rusty steel to our bum.
Tell me how you really feel.

The club say a lot of things. Bonner is great and he's absolutely best 22 IMO but he's not the same sort of player as Clurey, doesn't use his body as well in the contest and isn't as good an aerial defender. We're also going in very short in a week where we have the tallest player in the league in the opposition forward line. Howard (and probably Westhoff as a chopout) will be required in defence.

I imagine our plan is Westhoff to play forward and 2nd ruck, which will leave us with 2 psuedo KPFs who are much better when given licence to roam and smalls up forward. I imagine that unless our midfield shows up, Westhoff switches back very quickly and then we're playing with Watts and smalls up forward.

Frampton should have played a stack of games by now, making his selection this week easy and obvious. We need the presence in our forward line. He's not Charlie Dixon but ultimately what's the point of having a reserves side if you aren't bringing in as like for like as possible?

That’s why I think Howard will go forward. It’s not like Collingwood has a tall backline. Why wouldn’t we stretch their defence and give them something to think about in the same manner you’re talking about Cox? Plus, Howard actually has some wheels.

Play Dougal forward for the next two weeks, then push him back and being in Marshall.

Hope you're right, but history tells me we'll leave everyone back and just hope the forward line works itself out.

I think if Howard goes forward, Westhoff will be chopping out in defence for a lot of the game.

Spare a thought for those of us who bought flights to Melbourne to see it a couple of months ago when we were 11-4 :(

No. As chief defender of the Fremantle disaster, while the rest of us evacuated as the canary was coughing, you get what you deserve ;)

I think bringing in Hombsch and Bonner shores up our backline enough. We’ll have Jonas, Hombsch, Houston, Bonner, Pittard and Byrne-Jones with Westhoff playing wing and floating back as required.

Then you have Howard forward and Watts roaming, with Johnson, Farell, Boak and the two Grays.

Ryder, Wines, Rockliff, Ebert and Wingard as our mids, with Polec and Motlop rotating on the other wing from Westhoff.

That’s how I’d do it.

Clurey isn’t a key back really - more of a hybrid - so Bonner in would be okay.

Hombsch can replace Howard who can ruck with Ryder and switch forward.

Frampton would be useless against Grundy and offer nothing forward no matter what so I don’t know why people care. He’ll only play as a last resort.

Dixon's injured, Marshall's injured, Clurey's injured, Ryder is clearly carrying something. Our tall stocks have been decimated. I'm not exactly president of the Billy Frampton fan club myself, but we are at 'last resort'.

I don't know if that's your case, but I would like to add a comment:

Those who evacuated after the Hawthorn disaster, but came back: you have no right to pat yourselves on the back now.

We simply have to wait and see what happens but I have a bad feeling about this. Maybe Ryder's hip has sorted itself out and he is capable of playing out the entire game? It then becomes a matter of rejigging the forward line and moving a taller player forward to cover Dixon. Somehow I do not think it is that simple.

If we get half way through this game and Ryder goes down and we have to use Westhoff in ruck I will probably finish up getting arrested.

Feel like melting but not because of the changes. Because we have backed ourselves in a corner where we probably have no option but to play the more experienced players, injured or not.

Has not been a good season. If there was a ladder for underperformance we'd be up top or very close to it.

"At this stage, we expect them (Ryder and Polec) to play," Hinkley told reporters on Friday morning.

"We're confident enough (Ryder) has got his power and that's the key ingredient to what he needs to perform.

"There's always some risk anyone returning from injury or carrying something, but every team this weekend is carrying some people with some issues or injury concern.

"We haven't got many free hits left, so we're going for it."

"We haven't got many free hits left, so we're going for it."

Free-hits? Is that what you call it when you **** around all year by not having players ready to fill roles? When you have our core midfield playing 60% game time to preserve themselves? When you dont rotate the squad to keep them fresh even though we had the depth to make that possible?

**** me this clown never aimed for top 4. He just wings it and hopes for the best and when shit doesn't work out he has a knee jerk reaction like playing an unfit ruckman. Same thing the last few years - struggles all season with broken systems and then changes things up when the end is near.

There is no urgency with this guy, especially not with a three year deal behind him.

So is Howard rucking whilst Ryder spends more time forward. Just read Ollie mentioned Ryder spending more time forward. Cleary that's to preserve him from a complete breakdown I guess.

Changes (or lack of them) are irrelevant. This season was pissed up against the wall the moment we barely rolled up against Carlton. Deck chairs / sinking ship.

so ryder hasnt trained all week now... crazy if we dont select frampton to just in case if hinks is to stupid to not play ryder
To be fair, the coaches have said on several occasions that Paddy has only a very light training load every week because of his Achilles. Buddy doesn’t train at all for the Swans to manage him.

What made it even more galling was the week before we had beaten Essendon in the wet at Footy Park by 39 points. Warren Tredrea had climbed out of his sick bed with the flu and played a great key forward game with 19 disposals (only Josh Carr had more with 24) and he kicked 3 goals 2 points.

We thought, there's a lesson for Choco about the importance of key forwards in finals. As Allan Scott might have said first, we were wrong.

Collingwood beat us easily in the end by 44 points, even though as you mentioned we were still in it halfway through the third quarter with our miserable 5 goals.

On the upside, Billy gets to have a free hot dog in the stand.

Right from his post match presser, Hinkley has done nothing but downplay and minimise this Ryder injury, and we're now at the point of implying that we need to win so we'll just risk it and whatever will be will be.

It's like nobody at the club ever had half a glance at the ladder predictor to realise just how important last Saturday's game was to our finals hopes. What a balls up it was to have Paddy sitting out most of that second half, especially in light of the Dixon injury.
