Lyon about to go on 6PR, will post a link here later and main points.
-Walters and Ballas complement each other well
-Defended Dawson with his role in defence
-Reconfirming decision by doctors and physicians to clear players from concussion (e.g. McPhee)
-Impressed with Clarke and his pressure
-Clancee described as a 'solid' footballer that does the right thing at training and puts his head over the ball
-Ross doesn't care about other results, we just play for the next opposition

An unnoticed facet to his game, lays a lot of tackles whereas Bradley whiffs most of them. Clarke also hurries the opposition into poor kicks and handballs as they don't realize how quick he is..

yeah, if there's one thing about Lyon he likes pressure and players that can apply it. Bradley, with all his athletic abilities is just too ungainly and 'slow' to apply the Lyon game plan, to the extent Clarke can.I can see his future being questioned, given the new direction we are taking post-harvey. Also, he is injured constantly, we need durable players, he is not able to get on the park enough.

Out: bradley

This is the only change i can see forthcoming, if we are indeed going in with the intent to maximize our victory margin.

Thanks for the summary. Any chance you can provide a link to where the audio of this broadcast may be saved? I'm not familiar with the talk-back radio scene.

Also, about Lyon's support of Dawson's role in the team. I think Dawson has been unfairly attacked and not given the regard he deserves. No, he's not Mcpharlin, but he does play an important role. He is brave and uncompromising. I think in time he will morph into a mcphee type: adored by the masses for his bravery, and forgiven for his flaws, which he does have, like all players.

He was targeted I think because he was an outsider, brought in under the wings of a foreign couch, who until recently was still appointed under contestable and controversial circumstances.

me, well, I'm a huge fan of Dawson. My natural inclination is always supportive of players who give their all, even if they perhaps don't succeed. Jack Anthony is another I wholly admire: for his guts and fortitude. I hope he gets one more shot. We may find out he doesn't have the pure talent to make it at AFL level, but if we could clone his application and transfer it to other, more talented but less caring and indifferent players, who i won't name , then the team would be all the better for it.

An important question

I suppose the question of his retirement will be publicly answered post season.

But it would be great if Antoni Grover is retiring to do a lap of honor at this weeks last H&A game, or possibly the first final, which should be at Patersons. Would be a great send-off for him from the supporters for his many years of bleeding purple.

Was thinking the same thing a few weeks ago. It is the perfect opportunity to give him a farewell game but at the very least a send off.

The obvious one

In: Pavlich

Out: Bradley

I was concerned with McPhee when he got a knee to the head against North.

I considering were already in the 8, I would love Grover to come in but thats unlikely as he has been a solid player for us for many years. Ibbo and Duffield has had good games recently as well.

Just curious what would be better, grabbing 8th and take on west coast or grabbing 7th and beating North again.

We've beaten all 5-8 teams this year but would love 1st up home final (so 6th or 8th with eagles 5th). Would love a derby final first up - but there is also that very very outside chance that if all things went our way (and also eagles) we could square off in the ultimate.

If we grab 8th and take on west coast (50/50), odds are we'd have collingwood next up who would be my preferred opponent from the top 4 (60/40), but we might be a bit flat from the derby.

If we grab 6th and take on geelong at home (70/30)
If we grab 6th and take on north at home (80/20)
If we grab 7th and take on geelong at skilled (50/50)
If we grab 7th and take on north at etihad (70/30)

The second game from the above would be against either adelaide or sydney - with their game being a bit of a contested bruiser. I'd give us a 50/50 from the outcome of their game.

Eagles wont go near this years grand final. They are too crap to even try.

Hallelujah to that. They will be exposed and destroyed by the Hawks this weekend. As soon as the 'press' gameplan is broken they have no plan B. That was pretty obvious against Fremantle.

Anyway, glad to see this thread is back up the top rather than the North Melbourne one. Bank the 4 points and move on as the Emporer says.

Finals aren't played at skilled. If we were to play the Cats it would most likely be at the G

I think if Grover is in, it is a clear indication that he is gone.

Either way, I think Grover is gone after this year, and fair enough, and thanks so much to a great servant.
I don't think Ross would allow sentiment to come into it, so I'd like to see Grover do a lap like Hasleby did.
