Watch his defensive effort when the ball is not in his area. He is terrible.

Even offensively he was well below what he should have been with the plum role he has. He managed only 15 disposals and had 3 clangers in there. This board crucifies Harwood for his clangers but it worth noting that Harwood has only had 3 clangers in one game this year so far (against Collingwood as well as it happens). Over the course of the year Christensen has only one less clanger than Harwood.

Christensen is very much a seagull who will attack the chip when it is there and look good doing it but when the chips are not there he will sit around doing nothing waiting rather than going out and finding food for himself.

I'm not sure the stats totally support this.
  • Christensen is averaging 15.6 disposals per game to Harwood's 13.4. Eyeballing it, Christensen is in the top 8 or so for the side and is only below full time mids(EDIT: wrong, Bell is in there). You'd hope for more disposals given Christensen rotates through the midfield reasonably often, but equally the ball has been in the backline a lot. Christensen is getting a bit of it. Those differentials being what they are, Harwood's clanger frequency is higher, and he's making them coming off the HBF where clangers lead more immediately to goals. To be fair to Harwood, his DE is higher, but when he messes up it's more often a total disaster.
  • Christensen is also averaging 6.1 contested possessions to Harwood's 4.6. 6.1 isn't a super high number, but it's in the top 10 or so for the side. His defensive running could be better, but I think 'seagull' is overstating the point.

So after review the outs will be,

Bell, Beams, Beams, Rich, Bastinac, Christensen,Green

Ins will be

Mathieson, Jansen, Paine, Evans, Dawson, Robertson, McStay
that's not swinging the axe, that's hacking with a machete. don't mind it though.

How far off is Cutler most likely? He'll be a good one to get back, noticeably weaker without him I think

I completely agree, since we lost him in that opening qtr against Bulldogs, we have lost all run, dare and penetration out of the back half when the conditions are solid.

I don't include the Sydney game because that was purely kicking down the line in wet conditions, the only option really.

He makes mistakes but at least he has the courage to do something different, the last two weeks we have kicked to that same bloody spot near the interchange enough to match the hairs I've ripped from my head.

Yeah it was a real shame to lose Cutler because he was starting to look comfortable at AFL level and looked to be starting to fulfil his potential. Give it a couple years and I think he'll be a great player.

Dawson has been very poor in the seniors this season and has now missed 2 weeks with an illness. He needs to come back through the reserves and build up some form.
Well scratch him off my changes if he's been out for 2 weeks

Woof, does anyone that has actually watched the reserves regularly this year want West or Archie to come into the team? It's all well and good to throw names up in threads like these but it'd be good to actually see real reasoning not just "oh he came in 2 years ago and wasn't complete arse" because by all reports that's exactly what they've been this year. Arse.

At least they're 2 of the suggestions who aren't actually on the injury list. Surprised I haven't seen Banfield mentioned TBH.

This is the most excited I've been about team selections in a long time.

Has been fumbling it a lot I hear.

Yes, the announcement of our squad of 25 will be gripping.
