I'd love to see Watts come back in but I just can't see anyone coming out for him. It'd have to be Thomas, but Thomas did enough to hold his spot unless Watts absolutely bashes the door down with a huge performance.
I feel like Rockie has become our on field leader in the way that Hodge was at the Hawks when Mitchell was skipperI watched the replay from the other night, and when you don't have the emotion because you already know the result you obviously see things differently.
Boak's game was nowhere near as bad as I initially thought, BUT there is no doubt he is rushing his disposal, ie he has become very aware of a potential tackler, which may be a sign he is losing (lost) the ability to get that little bit of space required to dispose of the ball correctly.
My other criticism of him is there is no obvious evidence of any team leadership during the game, as opposed to Robbie Gray who does it regularly, but that is not to say that Boak isn't fantastic in the qtr and 3/4 time huddles, or during the half time break.
All the above aside though I am on the same page as those who believe this season should be Boaky's last as captain.
Sigh,We are here to win football games, Watts also needs his head managed.
He’ll be fine.
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he wasn’t told he’d get that game and Watts will be back for the Melbourne game.
2nd in inside 50sI love Trav and always will but gee, if he wasn’t captain he 100% would have been dropped by now. Anyone who disagrees with that is in serious denial.
2nd in inside 50s
3rd in disposals
4th in tackles
5th in goal assists
All while playing as a forward.
The things he needs to clean up are his clangers/mistakes per game as well as cleaning up his kicking considering his efficiency was 60% from round 1 to 11 but in 12 and 13 has managed to cut the season average down to 55%.
If he was just a little bit cleaner he'd probably be in contention for the AA team.
Utterly putrid is this year has been:All those stats show is that Trav still knows how to find the football, which no one would dispute. Doesn’t change the fact that he has been utterly putrid for long patches.

Utterly putrid is this year has been:
Neade's last month,
Trent McKenzie's debut,
Pittard's game against West Coast
Tom Rockliff's first month,
Charlie Dixon and Wingard's goal kicking.
Boak hasn't been our best, but the fact he is no longer ripping games apart apparently means he's been putrid.
Boak hasn’t been at his best, but he’s nowhere near our 23rd best player.
He’s also the captain of a current contesting team, which must mean something.
FFS, Dixon, Watts and Marshall together constitute our three amigos. They should all be playing. Thomas played a good game and I'd be dropping Brad 'My eyesight needs checking, as I pick out the opposition multiple times each week' Ebert before him, but given a choice between Thomas and finally having our three KPF's all playing at once, it'll take me 0.0005 seconds to go with 'Dropped Thomas'.Watts v Marshall. Looks like a very hard choice.
