3rd in Disposals

2nd in Inside 50s

His lack of form is so horribly overrated its ridiculous. People are intently looking over every single time he goes near it almost hoping he stuffs up. SPP, Wingard and Ebert are just as bad in terms of turning it over, poor disposals etc but dont get near the level of vitriol that Boak does. Hes nowhere near droppable level.

Last night, despite having a shocker he still had 7 score involvements and kicked a goal himself.

He’ll be in our top 2-3 next week.

Ebert burns the ball just as much, just doesn't give the 50's away.

I actually think we are winning at the moment playing on 3 cylinders so as long at some point the 'forward' stuff turns around we are going OK.

Yeah, while I love what Lindsay brings to the table, Ken pointedly said that Wingard has a role to play in the forward line...he basically wants him to be our Martin or Dangerfield.

Since Thomas doesn't have the ability to play as a link through midfield and Watts does, I can see Jack offering a lot more to the side now that Marshall is back. But he has to play at a higher level and demand the ball.
This is the one thing about Lindsay. A bit like Betts he leaves us one midfield rotation down.

You need to be a very good forward to make up for it.

DBJ finished the game with 'hamstring awareness'.

HBF stocks could be dwindling if it turns into hamstring irritation.

Wonder if Irra could get a run?

Will I be attacked if I say

IN: Watts
OUT: Ebert?

I want us to have Watts in the side with Dixon and Marshall so then Hoff could go back and help Howard, Clurey, Hombsch who had a tough night due to the Jonas injury. I noticed Ebert was sweeping the defence in the last quarter, Hoff can do that easily.

The other thing to consider with Boak which i've mentioned is his hard running. Noone in our team runs as hard as what he does. So many times he'll start a play in the defensive 50, 2 or 3 disposals later he's attacking a contest in the forward 50 and you think 'how the **** did he get there?'.

As I said, it opens up space. Very few defenders can run with him the whole game with that level of repeat sprinting. He's averaging over 23 touches a game playing almost solely as a forward flank which would be close, if not the most disposals a forward flanker is getting this year. It forces a 2nd player to go to him which frees up someone else moving forward. It allows guys like Wingard and the Grays to free up some more space.

Noone else on our list can run like that in that role. That's why he remains important, even whilst having a shocker.

Ryan Crowley, who ran with the league's best mids for a decade, said Boak is the hardest/best runner he's ever played on and the only guy he couldn't keep up with. And while Travis isn't quite as sharp as he was at his best, he's lost none of that running power.

This is not a running race its afl football and boak is not delivering simple as that!

He is delivering in his role. As many a poster in this thread have stated, I'm not going into it as it's just rehashing what's already said.

No one in our side has given up as much to stay in the side to cater for all the recruits to fit in. Boak now plays his high half forward role well, he just wasn't at his best last night. But the facts are he didn't have to be.

It was only two and a bit weeks ago people were screaming for Chad to be dropped, and Ollie be traded. Those two are playing their best footy for the season now. I gather it's Boak's turn to cop many a posters wrath this week, so odds are he will be best on next week.

I really like it now Ebo is on the wing rather than the middle

How is Watts going to get back in the side after being very harshly dropped even though he was our highest scoring KPF?

It seems like the 3 tall setup is not meant to be, Even if the weather is good.

If DBJ is out injured it takes care of itself.

The fact that he gasses himself has a lot to do with his sometimes poor disposal. I don't know how many of his naysayers have actually played the game, but it is ******* incredibly hard to hit kicks when you have lead legs. Especially at the game pace of AFL.

He plays a high half forward role that not many players on our list (and none currently in the magoos) can play as effectively as he does.

Pretty interesting reading today.

Have you seen how hard he runs? Imagine if the rest of the 22 worked that hard for 4 quarters.
If it's running we want let's recruit Jack Trengove's sister or maybe a retired umpire, I heard those blokes can run pretty well.

Paper thin on decent half forwards.
Neade and Amon may have done their dash for now but I reckon Farrell, Barry and Johnson could be decent options in the future.
