Not a bad side and I would be happy to see this side play North. I doubt if we would be worse off with Collins and Tucker in the side.

Collins seems to be playing some good footy at Peel and is getting some good reports in the media. Quite a mature body too so why not give him a go now?

Don't know much about Tucker but North play a run and stun game so if he lacks a bit of strength at this stage he will be at little risk of getting bashed around unless he gets behind Thomas when he throws his head back.

Because the earn your place attitude- double standard is still there. Ross wants players to earn their place but this doesn't apply to Mayne and Suban, whereas new players pretty much have to be forced into the side through injuries or well obvious stinker of performances.

Sheridan Sutcliffe and Hill are mids. Full stop.

My team for the v North would be:

Spurr-Dawson-Johnson
Ibbotson-A Pearce-Tucker
D Pearce-Sheridan-Hill
Crozier-Collins-Weller
Ballantyne-Pavlich-Walters

Griffin-Fyfe-Neale

Sutcliffe-Langdon-Barlow-Silvagni

- Sheridan is developing nicely. Time to be in the midfield
- Collins deserves a shot. Tabs has had plenty of goes.

I really like this lineup. A nice mix of form young players with good disposal and speed. Tucker is going to be a gun, Collins appears to be our next best KP option and we need to get as many games into A.Pearce, Langdon , Crozier and Weller.

The pressure is going to be on Suban, D. Pearce and Mayne in the next few games. Morabito is going to be banging the door down!

If we line up with Silvagni and Collins as our KP's up front, there'll be an investigation into a gambling rort.

Silvagni has played there before and was very handy .Collins at Box Hill played not only in the FB positioin but also FF and CHF with success .
Taberner is the only other player available if Pav doesn't travel so you choose.
Alex Pearce must remain in the backline and develop .He is the best player to cover Brown but he won't match up well on Petre

I believe Pav will travel and he is in good form. I can't see how RTB and the Club will throw the towel in on playing finals so Pav will play.

Talking Footy just said our season is over. Our players can't kick, which we have been saying for a long time now.

I like Jack Dustys side too.
I'm hopeful for a few of the changes suggested but don't think it's likely.
Shuffling decks and 'roles' just doesn't quite fit the plan.
Collins forward - who knows what he got at Afl level... suggest the experiment would start at peel first though.
Tucker - want to see more of his man on man efforts before I'd rubber stamp his ticket in, coaches can and will expose him 1 out if the opportunity presents itself.
Back line definitely looks stronger without sutcliff and sherro holding down the flanks that's for sure.

If I were Ross, I'd be inclined to give grey and crozier a crack in replacement of suban and mayne. Relatively like for like and next cabs off the rank IMO

Pav was in doubt for the Bullies game because of ground hardness and he has an issue with calf soreness so I think RTB and the selectors will not risk him.

On the subject of Alex Pearce I loved the photo of him against NicNat due to him using his left arm and not his right . The only suggestion is that our ruck coach should get some vision of Spider ex Sydney ruckman and show it to Alex . Spider was an expert at using his right shoulder into opposing ruckmen and palming with his left hand . I grew up watching Poly Farmer , Spider Burton and Spider ex Sydney\StKilda tear oposition ruckmen a good one but no one since .If Alex is comfortable using this left then he needs to be encouraged . Freo should bring one of the 3 to talk with him and give him guidance .

Did you mean Spider Everett?

That'd be an interesting match committee. "Look, we're staring down the barrel of a season ending 0-4 this week guys and accordingly I think we should save Pav for the bigger games ahead of us. I have spoken to him and as he played on for a final tilt, he agrees it would be a good idea to sit it out to save himself for the meaningless games to come. And what makes it compelling is he is the only guy up front in form so I suggest that now is the perfect time to give Collins and Silvagni a run because they have not trained in the forward line all preseason."

I understand how quick De Boer is, he's no slouch, but Boomer would still be far too quick and nimble for him IMO, and I disagree regarding dumb free kicks, Matty's pretty handy in that area too.

You're also right that we don't have many options so he'll probably get the job and I hope you're right that he's up to it.

I'd personally throw Grey in to the deep end and tell him this is his big chance and to stop Boomer whatever it takes. He may also give away a few frees but they won't be dumb ones and at least he'll make Boomer earn everyone of them.

Yeah I don't mind that, Brady is actually pretty quick.
He's done the job on Wingard...

This. Grey would give his all against Boomer. He'd lose. Boomer would get 20 disposals and 2-3 goals but he'd be made to work for every single possession and goal. Which would quell his link up ability, which would anger him, which would upset the umps. Which would piss of Grey, which would please Ross. This is how legends are made. The next season Boomer will retire petrified of even entering the same space as the menace known as Brady Grey.

Boomer would lose his head if Grey played on him and do something stupid that would see him suspended for a month. We should totally be doing this.

Am much as I hate to admit it, Harvey is a friggin amazing player. He's 37 and been playing since the dawn of time it seems, so I very much doubt he hasn't encountered far worse than a hard tackling Grey type of player on more than a few occasions - I think we are kidding ourselves if we think it is going to phase him. He's almost impossible to match up on, I think the key is to cut off supply. Our mids have improved every week and hopefully will bring the same intensity we saw in the first quarter on the weekend and part of the third, just for a full match this time around. Sandi out is a big loss but I don't see why we wouldn't just try and shark Goldstein's taps like WB did to us in Rd1. And play defensively in the middle to stop them from getting easy clearances. I actually think if we don't rush our disposals (like we seem to have been doing) and instead choose good direct options (at the increased risk of an occasional HTB), we'll get rid of those masses of turnovers and could cause an upset. NM have played some pretty easy teams and may be over confident coming in to this game. Fingers crossed... a win this weekend could turn our season around very quickly.

If that's the objective, we should totally get Suban to do it. The tribunal will be epic. Harvey will be trying his heart out and lying through his teeth to get Suban suspended and it'll still end up as 0 weeks for Suban :D :P

Can guarantee every time I check the changes threads, Mzungu, Suban and Mayne's names are thrown around by the supporters.

Bizarre that they keep getting picked. How can we move forward playing guys who are below average each week.

We are 0-3, even if we make the finals we'll scrape in and make hardly any noise. Now's the time to send a message, drop these guys and play the kids. I won't mind if we lose by 40 points this week, just get games into our future players and stop wasting time on 26-28year olds who can't kick straight.
Completely agree. We need to bring in some of the skillful and fast kids. Nothing to gain out of playing guys like mzungu and suban because they arent going to get any better.

Also i think we need to change the way we draft, bring in guys with pace and foot skills like hawthorn did. Theyve proven u dont need early picks to build sustained success.
