I could handle it when they were playing some small role in a winning team, but if we're going to lose anyway we might as well get some experience into some players with higher ceilings.

I couldn't. Suban (and DeBoer) were picked ahead of Lachie Neale in the 2013 grand final. A game we didn't win. Who knows how it might have turned out differently if Neale played a full game. FWIW in 2013, Neale averaged 26 possessions a game in the last 6 weeks of the H/A season, only to get dropped to sub for the GF when he had a quiet one in the prelim.

Suban has spudded it up his whole career and the fact that he still gets picked over youth proves what opposition supporters say about Lyon and youth.

I'm willing to bet minimal changes apart from Sandi because Sandi won't be able to play.

Ross is nothing if not inflexible. Nothing else could explain his selection policies.

I wasn't making a joke about a player. I was having a dig at a friend.

Problem is that Griffin wasn't much better.
We all know that , sorry knee I am totally burning right now with Tab today with peel hence a pretty fast response.

Out: Sandi (inj), Suban, Mzungu
In: Clarke/Griffin, Silvagni, Crozier

Backline needs to be harder / tougher. Need more guys that aren't dominated one on one. I cringe seeing Sutcliffe / Sheridan in the last line. They get dominated brushed aside. Move them up the ground and let our backline hit them with a release kick.

Crozier and young Tucker, who I forgot, because he was the emergency.
Croz today absolutely kill it in WAFL. I should said where had he been all this while .

One of them will have to step up, fractured rib is about 4 weeks, I think.
4 to 6...

You can see what we are trying to do and if 211 had not gone down it would have been very interesting. As it is we just need to keep rewarding players that can play the game the way we need to regardless of age like Langdon.

Mayne surely needs to go back and get some confidence. Yarran might be his ideal replacement but I would settle for Crozier, Tabs, Collins from Peel in that position ATM. From RTBs comment Darcy Tucker could be up for a debut soon too.

Forgot DeBoer --> Tucker. Improve the skills across the board. Wouldn't mind Grey either, part of the reason we can't get the ball out of the backline is because we can't win 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2 very often.

Not here to gloat at all, just want to give an outsider view on the skeptics of Mayne and Suban really. I'm a fan of best 22's and I've had Mayne on the fringe since pre season with Crozier and Yarran (when fit) in line to replace him. Doesn't kick near enough goals, when he had that shot at goal at the subi end in the third quarter I confidently said he won't kick this to the bloke sitting opposite me - suffice it to say he missed it.

Suban is a hard nut and has some mongrel in him but thats all his got going for him. The Dockers will continue to go backward while those two are playing.

Interesting that I asked my barber to suggest to Ross, 2 weeks ago that Crozier is surely a better option than Mayne. He completely shut the question down. I wonder if he will change barbers...

Sandi and Mundy confirmed outs for next week so here's my changes:

Out: Sandilands, Mayne, Suban, De Boer, Mzungu
In: Griffin, Taberner, Crozier, Tucker, Grey

Put Grey in the back pocket and play Sutcliffe on the wing.

RBT said in his presser that if the trend continued ie losing games then there would be a change in philosophy at selection. I think he and bond have misread the way the comp was headed. if you read between the lines of his presser it's the shocking skill induced turnovers that are killing us and maybe trying to improve certain individual's skill level is floggings a dead horse because these individual while being great foot soldiers aren't capable of the improvement required.

Should have already sussed that out and uprooted the plebs by the end of 2013 latest. I think Ross will be needing to shatter some of his own preconceptions before any headway can be made- including but not limited to: thinking Danyle Pearce is an elite kick of the footy, thinking that Chris Mayne earns his spot through pressure acts solely or thinking that Nick Suban has any worth as a footballer at all.

If that's the case then they should both be sacked because blind freddy could have told them 3 years ago that you can't make unskilled players more skillful. If you could, then what's the point of having a draft? Just pick 18 randoms off the street and turn them into superstars.

I.E. Pretty much what Gerard Neesham thought he could do.

Pretty much what Neesham was required to do with ZERO assistance from the AFL for a start up team. A entirely different world away from GC and GWS.

On a side note, he still won more games in that first season with a bunch of nobodies and has been so than we will in 2016!
