tucker
Not a bad side and I would be happy to see this side play North. I doubt if we would be worse off with Collins and Tucker in the side.

Collins seems to be playing some good footy at Peel and is getting some good reports in the media. Quite a mature body too so why not give him a go now?

Don't know much about Tucker but North play a run and stun game so if he lacks a bit of strength at this stage he will be at little risk of getting bashed around unless he gets behind Thomas when he throws his head back.
to me tucker looks like hes got an afl ready body and great skills, good decision maker and abit of pace, im hoping he lines up this week, will only speed up his development.

That'd be an interesting match committee. "Look, we're staring down the barrel of a season ending 0-4 this week guys and accordingly I think we should save Pav for the bigger games ahead of us. I have spoken to him and as he played on for a final tilt, he agrees it would be a good idea to sit it out to save himself for the meaningless games to come. And what makes it compelling is he is the only guy up front in form so I suggest that now is the perfect time to give Collins and Silvagni a run because they have not trained in the forward line all preseason."
Silvagni played in the forward line last season when Pav was injured so he knows the role that RTB wants him to play .Colins agreed has only played down back in training sims during pre season and also for Peel BUT he has played forward for Box Hill and he is fitter than Apeness ,a better mark than Taberner and North will have their hands full with his strength and size .Collins is also a very good kick. The beauty of it is that if he is not working a straight swap with him and Alex Pearce when Alex is not on the ball.

Last season? 2013 maybe?

Silvagni forward?
He did play forward in a few matches in the past.
He will give Mayne a run for his money in terms of number of tackles and number of behinds scored ;-)

He is good where he is playing. We should just keep him there.

Silvagni was just an awful shot on goal when played forward - not sure we need another one of those - unless you are trying to outdo Perth's score on the weekend of 4g 19b

Did Silvagni ever play as our backup ruck option? Griffin will come in and who will be his backup? I'd prefer Silvagni over Hannath if he can ruck

Not sure if Silvagni has rucked but it seems Ross is happy with Griff, APearce plus M Johnson covering the ruck this week. Should be a role for Silvagni in the backline this week.

I think we'll go with the Griff/A Pearce combo.

It's ridiculous to say we gambled. Most AFL teams run with just a pinch hitter for backup.

If Gawn goes down for Melbourne will it get labeled as a backfire. Goldy for North, Hampson for Tigers, Mumford for GWS, Kruzer for Carlton, Leuy for Essendon, Lobbe for Port, Sauce for Crows, Martin for Brisbane, Nicholls for GC, etc.

All these teams get by with one of their tall forwards pinch hitting for 10-15% of the game and would be equally in trouble if their main ruckman went down.

We finally joined the rest of the comp by not playing two dedicated ruckman and unfortunately it backfired. IMO it's was and is still the right 'best 22' strategy.

What's the plan to beat North this Rd? Freo can't go 0-4.

No team in the past 20 years has made finals after starting 0-4. I couldn't be bothered looking back further than that to the pre-freo era.

Spurr Dawson Silvagni
Ibbotson Collins Sheridan
D.Pearce Fyfe Sutcliffe
Walters Johnson Crozier
Ballantyne Pavlich A.Pearce
Griffin Neale Hill

Int: Barlow Mayne Weller Langdon

Out: Sandilands Suban DeBoer Mzungu
In: Griffin Collins Silvagni Crozier

If Crozier doesn't get a gig this week, can't blame him if he chucks a sad the following week.

A message needs to be sent this week and Mayne/Suban needs to be dropped.

Tucker instead of Mayne

Good midfield pace :thumbsu: And you've got their talls covered but who takes Harvey and Thomas? Against North you just have to stop Harvey, he's a vital cog for them and they very, very rarely win when he doesn't fire.

Id do what Hawthorn do to us with Hill. Just collapse on him when he has the ball. Position our fastest players near him, Hill, D.Pearce, Mayne and give him no space at all.

Does. Not. Compute.

Yeah, I remember he could get the ball okay, he just couldn't kick it straight.
