It'll be interesting to see what we do with Boomer Harvey. We haven't really tagged since Crowley departed but surely someone goes to him? Six goals is insane. Would be a great initiation for one of the young blokes but it'll probably be deBoer.

I know.

Much Suban bashing on here so someone has to stick up for him.
I have always been a Suban fan as he plays his role and is a "heart and soul" player.

He had a bad quarter last week but I wont give up on him.
You have some serious patience. Sometimes heart and sole aren't enough.

Nah, forget the bad quarter, far more damning would be not being able to do his role. We know he aint in the side to kick it like Jarman (clearly), he is in the side to prevent us losing clearances (or would it be helping us win them ...).

On that basis, you'd have to conclude his rounds 1 and 2 were beyond putrid. Some of the times the Dogs and Suns basically walked it out of middle is something never seen in Ross's Freo. He has absolutely sucked in 2016.

Suban is shit. There is nothing else to it. He has been in the system for 8 years now? Nothing is changing. I still think his best game was either his rising star nom game in 2009 or one of his flat track bully games against GWS
We all know that he isn't in the side for his ball winning or anything, he is in it for his off the ball involvements like blocking. It would be interesting to see how he would go if Ross said to him just go out and play your natural game and use him in an attacking mindset. I wonder if he could find a bit of the ball then or if he just doesn't naturally accumulate a lot of the ball.

The closest we've come to hard tagging since Creepy was Suban on GAblett for about 2/3rds of the game in rnd 2, and I thought he did an OK job actually (I know saying anything positive about our 'plodders' isn't the fashion).

Booomer is a front runner, but he has a big tank, not sure Suban could stay with him all day, but I think Suban could do it for a bit if he isn't dropped. Also, Suban likes to get angry and there's no better person to unleash some rage against than that snivelling liar.

Have to agree with the Suban bashers here. When I see Suban in contested congestion (yes cool term I know! :p) I iust cringe because I know he's about to do ine of his spectacularly blatant dive on the ball that gets him pinged every damn time. The amount of times this happens is unfathomable.

Flicked on Fox the other night to see one of those 30min thrillers (last qtr rnd 1 v port 2015) and within moments there he is again doing that sensational ball dive like it's a grenade and he's saving his platoon from imminent death.

In his early days he was quite a handy Half Back/Mid, used to win a bit of a ball and generally had good skills.
Initially he probably had the most impact of all our class of 08, I even remember thinking future Captain circa 08/09.

No doubt since Ross has arrived he has turned in to one of the foot soldiers whose job is to block and defend.
I think he is now being encouraged to take the game on a bit more and become more offensively minded.
The problem is it is very hard to change something you have done for 4 seasons in 3 rounds.

This is why I wouldn't mind see him moving back to the half back position and therefore getting a more attacking mid in his place, it seems to make sense to me but I'm sure there is a reason why this isn't happening.

My predictions are,
Outs:
Sandi and Mzungu
Ins:
Griff and Corzier.
I think that the only chance of Tucker coming in is if we drop one of Weller and Langdon. I would love to see Tucker come in for Suban as well but I just can't see it happening unfortunately, especially for an away game against a team that is 3-0.

Surely with NM talls we can bring collins in, leave MJ as loose man and put Ibbo back on a player. Ibbo is a good mark but not very creative. Push Shero in to the midfield in place of one of the midfield "talent challenged" we want to torpedo. In any order DeBoer, Suban, Mzungu to go (and Mayne).

Out: Sandi, DeBoer, Mayne (prob won't happen). DeBoer just has no hurt factor so has got to go - at least Suban can kick long and Mzungu can mark sometimes.
In: Griffin, Collins, Crozier

Talking about Suban he always ends up on the ground, even if he doesn't get pinged he is out of the contest. That near report is symptomatic of his first thought when anywhere near a contest and it is ridiculous.

Ok so you would think Griff & Croz will come in.
Both are named on the ground.

I'm a bit worried about our lack of talls down back unless Pearce plays there. Surely taking Collins over as an emergency would have been a good idea. What happens if Dawson or Johnson gets injured in warmup?

Of our extended bench I expect these 3 to miss:
  • 8 Nick Suban
  • 14 Lachie Weller
  • 20 Matt Taberner
  • 18 Darcy Tucker
  • 9 Matt De Boer
  • 38 Jack Hannath
  • 21 Michael Barlow
