I appreciate we're probably not in a position to drop all the plodders at once, so I would have preferred us to spare Mz this week and drop one of the others.

Mz hasn't had the luxury of the same unbroken run in the team as someone like Mayne, and at least that way we'd get him to 100 games to safeguard any future father/sons. Watch him get stranded on 99 now and then produce some ridiculously athletically gifted kid who learns to kick a footy from the moment he can walk.

I haven't read every page in here, but how the **** does Suban continue to get games? and i,m not just going on his last performance either.
IMO Suban's bad outweighs his good. Play another youngster i say, what the hell have we got to lose?

I agree with Subes but I think I remember Ross last year saying only when they can't make finals will he play the kids

Yeah. I am actually thinking of going even further and not even playing him in wafl, just work on the kicking and get it right. I just feel that putting him under match pressure (even wafl) when he is still working on the kick will be counter productive.

We could try another approach with Mayne - many years ago we recruited a tall forward to be our goal kicking saviour and he had the yips and kicked about as good as Mayne (remember Tarrant ). We switched him to defence and he did really well.
Mayne is fast with a good mark and tackles well. Perhaps Mayne can give us the run out of defense we need so much.

Mayne doesn't have the kick to play as a small defender and doesn't have the confidence to find a target up the ground so he does his little u-turn and tries to switch the ball - which every pressing forward on the other side of the ground sees and gets into position to pressure our loose player he was trying to switch to.

The ideal situation would be to have a player or three up the ground that almost always win their one-v-the-rest and the whole team knows to kick it to them because we get out of defense like that, then Mayne just does that, when he has to chose an option he rattles himself.

Normally you can work out who is missing when the team gets to the airport, though they may fly the 25 over to keep North guessing.

And about 3/4 of the comp run with just one recognised ruckman.

I agree it's risky if Griff goes down but Hannath is horrible. We are going to get demolished in the ruck anyway (Goldstein smashed Gawn, who is a good ruckman), so why not have Tabs come in and pinch hit when Griff needs a break. Focus on trying to win the ball when it comes down and win the clearances

One recognised Ruck is still better than only fielding 21 real players. If Tabs comes in and AP or someone pinch hits again I reckon overall we will perform better than having the guy that needs the MCG and a three point turn to turn around in.

Whatever off the ball role that Suban plays surely Barlow can fill that spot? I would much prefer Barlow in that position as he adds a bit more versatility. I would also like to see Mayne dropped for Tabs as we can afford to play two talls down there at the moment because we have players like Walters, Ballas, Weller, Langdon and Crozier now who will apply the pressure. We need someone that can actually kick a goal and take a grab, Tabs has yet to fully prove that he can consistently do this but he needs a reasonable shot at doing this as Mayne has proven over a fair while now that he is not this man. Put Tabs in there for gods sake and give him a go and please please please just get Suban out of that team he does not offer our team anything that any other player couldn't.
