Neither Stanley or Smith seem up to it. Abbott and Fort haven't shown enough.

Just blow everything up. I know it won't happen but rucks to be a rotation of Buzza, Sav and Blitz. All can jump, all are more mobile than Stanley/Smith. We are stuffed if we play either Stanley or Smith so try something different. Run Goldstein ragged chasing whoever is rucking against him at the time.

I think Darcy Fort just put himself back into consideration.

That said, our current woes are nothing to do with team selection. It's just gutlessness. Unless the team finds a way of getting its desire back, all these changes are akin to rearranging deckchairs on the Titanic.

Depends on how he marked the ball

I dont get why after several lukewarm games that Parsons plays better ..perhaps the best he has played for some time .. gets dropped .. then comes back to eth VFL and stands out again.. does Parson come back in catempire on this performance ...

and Buzza has been consistent all year .. they just must not rate him... as a good fit.

Parsons was very good but this level is really suited to him. He just has that extra 1-2 seconds which is what he needs to choose a better option. I thought he was stiff to be dropped for the Freo game. He’s a decent chance to be recalled but now faces competition from Dahlhaus and maybe Parfitt.

I think this is Buzza’s level. He never does anything that makes you say “wow”. Just works hard and takes his chances when they are in his favour.

I agree Henderson and Atkins are potential omissions from this week. But I thought they both played quite well actually.

He rotated off fyfe, Walters and hill. Got absolutely sodomized with no lubricant.
Not too mention slows down ball movement every single time cause he can't kick. Does go in hard though. No doubt. And does do his best to stay within his limitations. But so limited.
Gotta agree with Partridge. If his name wasn't Selwood or he didn't win a B+F around 10 years ago no way we would he be on our list or getting games.

Fair points .. different roles imo..but yes one could see him missing again..

Agreed. People had made up their mind about him before he stepped onto the ground. He was far from our worst and certainly had a crack.
Yep, I'd keep him in purely as a hard tagger because no-one else wants to do any defensive work in that midfield.

Take out the opposition's best mid, or at least try, then go from there.

Time to forget about player management, plan B, tough training plans and whatever else has been going on. This week there should be one objective. We need to win. We are dicing with fate if we put anything else above the single most important objective which is to win. Nothing else is as important.

But he can't tag!

Sure he can, I've seen him do it. Trouble is he doesn't get to do it enough because under Matthew Knights no-one in that midfield has a role, they just go in there and hope for the best.

Saw him tag Mitchell once. Did allright but he was still in the Hawks top few players.
Nearly won them the game actually. At least he tried.

With the past years of falling into a hole after byes, fiddling with the ruck going into the finals, mismanaging our players so they are fresh early and cooked at the pointy end, a selection panel that performs at a sub-par level, and a model from earlier in the year that worked but we ourselves seem to have broken, the only conclusion I can draw is our coaching and support departments are not good enough if you judge their performance in terms of premierships. They are too conservative at the business end of the season. You can’t fail to address the bye issue for at least 7 years, for example, and argue that you are competent. We may be defence first but we still have gone from high pressure and being a fast ball movement team to cautious, slow and basically waiting to get run over team. God help us against a Richmond at the moment. I despair that the history of how the team has been managed lately, and the seeming repeat this year means we have little hope of correcting. I really really hope I’m wrong, and that our coaches, support team lift their performance t

The MC has seemed to be reluctant too apply a hard tag in recent years.
Guthrie and S.Selwood have done some run-with roles ,with varying levels of success.
Id be happy to see 1 of them go full Cameron Ling on Higgins this week.
And i think there is only room for 1 of them in the midfield, and possibly the team.
