He is actually correct in his assessment. The recruitment of the Pods has been a bust. As a team, we are not better off with or without him.

Good clubs don't develop a game plan and then find the players to implement it, good coaches develop a game plan around the players they have at their disposal. We should never have recruited him as we are just wasting development time on someone else.

If we were top 4 and fighting for a premiership, the recruitment of him could be justified but we are not. After round 22 - our finals appearances looks very shaky, so what does it matter if we gave 22 games to SMACK and it stunk it up. We are still not in the finals and then we can tell him to piss off and tell him to never come back knowing he has a full season but didn't meet the needs. However, after he played 2 or 3 games and he stunk it up, if the coaches stuck by him and developed that confidence that he could do it and the club and coaches showed faith in him - he may have develop that raw talent he clearly has.

They had a preconceived idea last October that they only had 1 game plan and all the eggs went into that one basket.

It's really worked out well for us.

As for our defence, those wanting Rutten back, go to the 2nds thread to see how he did against Sturt. Just like Riley, Pets and Porps his time in the seniors is done. Would promote Kelly or Siggins before going back to Truck.
Boomer out helps the cause, but it's the up week on Saturday. We need to have a thread for the Saints when we'll be shite again.

Rutten looked so slow against Sturt. He was standing Duldig ( the pie jokes run thick and fast about him)who is a good forward but if Ben can't keep up with him he's got no hope with more mobile players.
Trucks been a great servant of the club but I see no position for him in the team now.

Excellent post, which encapsulates so many of our issues, and the contradictions (as Spackler has repeatedly highlighted) that are apparent in the decisions we make.

Unfortunately by selecting him, we have extended the status quo. We are a team in an eternal holding pattern, afraid to make tough decisions.

You do realise that;
Lyons only had 4 more possessions than Pods.
Smith had 3 less than Pods.
Hendo had the same.
Martin on had 3 more.

You are so one eyed against Pods. How about you critique the whole side with consistent standards.

How good is it?

Yep very good. Look I don't mind him having an opinion, but to come into every thread and ram I hate Pods...theme...yep I get you don't like him, I heard your pain and suffering and so has everyone else, they've been polite, they've been blunt, they've been rude, yet still...from what I can gather it's still going on. Might be practicing for a move into politics.

However you aren't in charge of selection, he's doing a job and doing more than say JJ who I find very frustrating to watch as he doesn't give 100% when he doesn't have a chance at kicking a goal. Pods has done things wrong sure, but so has every other player, if they hadn't we'd have at least 5 more wins and everything would be happy days. It's just the hijacking of every thread that has become a yawn.

Good point! Where's the Monday review?? Would like a good look at all the players and what went wrong! We all have our opinions but a good detailed opinion, not a rant, is a good read!
