Are you in a time warp????
Agreed. Peake's been one of the more consistent above-average players.

If we had greater depth I'd suggest dropping McPharlin. Played like shit two weeks in a row. I'd go as far to say his pathetic effort at the end of the second quarter cost us any chance of winning the game.

I would play Johnson and Bradley in key forward spots with Murphy on flank or pocket. Headland should come in especially if Mundy is out.Would love to see Foster get another game.Maybe Hinkley and suban could have a rest this week.

Question is, do you reinforce the Duffield example to the youngsters i.e Ibbo particularly and the others and drop him? Short term pain to reinstate the principle. I think you should in principle otherwise its seen as personal.

I would probably agree with you Gravy in the end, although hes close to the chopping block. Ibbo must be close too.

If Mcpharlin isn't made an example of, can't see why Ibbo would be.

Hill apparently has a sore shoulder so wouldn't be surprised to see him rested.

I like the idea of Kepler and Foster as emergencies, they have nothing else to do this weekend so I'd be taking 24/25 players across.

Ominous for Murphy? Harvey is quoted as saying Mundy and Headland are likely starters on Saturday and also he is keen to keep the youngsters playing.

Looks like he has changed his mind. With the 8 day break you would hope they are all fit and ready to play :thumbsu:

Awesome :thumbsu:

After Fremantle's round-eight loss to Hawthorn, Harvey said his side's younger players were in need of a rest with Nic Suban (eight possessions), Stephen Hill (13), Matt de Boer (12) and Clayton Hinkley (nine) all well held against the reigning premier.

But on Wednesday the coach stood firm in his approach to keep playing the first and second-year players.

"I've gone back and had a look at some of their game times in recent weeks and we are keeping them down to 60-70 per cent," Harvey said.

"I think that'll hold them in good stead over the next few weeks.

"I'm pretty keen to ... keep giving them experience playing in a team that's gathering momentum and then give them the experience of playing against different teams, playing on different opponents, on the road, at home – all of that means a lot.

"We have to keep putting games into younger players."

The old saying goes that Backlines win you premierships. Either winning one on one contests in the backline, courage or running the ball out. All the premierships of the last decade have had great backlines. Even last year Buddy and Rough didnt score too many goals.

I would cement our backline as strong as possible.

I would love to see us line up like this.

FB: Hayden Tarrant Grover
HB: Solomon McPharlin Dodd
C: Hill Haselby Ibbotson
HF: Duffleid Pavlich Johnson
FF: Peake Murphy Headland
R: Sandilands Schammer Mundy
B: Thornton Suban Broughton DeBoer
EM: Hinkley Foster Pratt Kepler
Cant wait for: Ballas Kiwi Mayne

That backline is pretty bloody good if you ask me.
Very versatile, Tough, Fast, Committed.

The jury is out on Kepler. He may have potential but has not yet filled it. I still believe he will be a very good player but will not hit his straps for a least another year. He needs time. Send him back to Westies for a while, ( and lets see if we can get Troy Longy back, or sneak in Brent LeCras with a late draft pick this year - has taken time but is going well now)

Would love to have Campbell at FF, but i think we need to give Murph a consistent 6 or 7 games with out Pav deep forward, so he must work and be a prime target like he does for Souths.

What the F***

What the F***

Hahaha..just a bit of tongue in cheek homour from a Westies fan. Basically saying how Westies have Kepler, Kiwi all with potential just not quite there and T Longy and LeCras whos AFL careers are over - although am surprised that LeCras career was cut so short. Obviously not a fit for freo, but at 27 i would have thought that maybe some club would have grabbed him with a late pick as security.

I think that the principle that you are espousing FreoShark should be carried out, especially when it isn't there is a high probability that we aren't likely to be going anywhere this season, its got to be about developing accountability and consistency within our team.

Somehow I doubt any of the indigenous boys will be dropped for this weekends game.

Easy selection if they want Headland to play and that is Hinkley out.

Could be that Roger will return to defence in order to give us some run in that area. Broughton has been so so - a high ratio of handpasses to kicks though so minimal rebound.
