I think VB will definitely get dropped this week , the time has come, and think the coaches can finally see it ....not sure what to do re CEY , crouch playing well and not sure we can have both starting with thommo there also

Thommo was shocking but obviously unprecedented circumstances. Some perform (Danger), some don't.

But the clincher for me to give him another shot is his Showdown last year was fantastic…I'm hoping for another vintage display.
Thommo won't play 2 bad ones in a row , bank it.
Martin deserves a shot for McKay who is underperforming , nothing to lose there

He had a head knock in the 4th quarter; he went off with an eye gash to his eye brow.

But can not remember any jaw fracture.
2nd quarter he went off to be stitched after head knock from a tackle. Was head on head so hopefully not a break as we have had more than our fair share.

What we could do, but won't is give Atkins a full game, play Thommo more in the forward line in Wrights spot and give Wright the vest, letting CEY and M Crouch do their thing.

Wright stays in for mine. He did enough to hold his spot and there's room to fit Lyons and Atkins in. CEY had no impact in decent game time last night however that can be explained by a number of factors.

Smith was fairly average, has been since the Collingwood game and he is so crucial to our side. I wouldnt drop him yet but he would want to improve. With that in mind......

OUT

VB- He is spent to the point where its sad watching him. I hope he can find a way back but it seems unlikely.

DMac- Anonymous again. Had a decent start to the year but has fallen off a large cliff. Look to trade.

IN

Lyons- Don't play him as sub, give the bib to Wright. Have him swap with Thommo mid/forward. He deserves a shot.

Atkins- Surely its time. Time to see what the kid has at the highest level in a huge game.

If Cheney is fit then Wright could drop out but it does look doubtful. We have enough talent to beat Port, but will we have the desire and mindset.

Sorry Jeff but thats just switching seats on the titanic.
I get your point but I'd still prefer that than do nothing .... If we had less guys like Lyons and more outside types it wouldnt be martin coming in...bring Atkins for VB and if McKay keeps stinking up then martin comes in until wigg is ready which he's not yet

B: Brown, talia, hartigan
Hb: Smith, lever, Laird
c: Henderson, Ellis-yolmen, knight
hf: lynch, walker, Cameron
f: Betts, Jenkins, Thompson
R: Jacobs, Dangerfield, Douglas
I: MacKay, m crouch, Atkins, Wright (sub)

In: Atkins
Out: van berlo

Hopefully Cheney & kerridge return the following week.

That's not how it works. If Dmac barely touches it then he's doing an admirable job on someone.
Its line ball as to whether VB and Dmac not touching the ball is worse than them getting it.

On 2015 form I rate Lyons as an upgrade on Wright even if playing Wright's role. Lyons has more X factor and although many consider him slow surely he would be the same pace as Wright! His ability to take a leap would give us another threat in the forward line that Wright currently doesn't added to that he could bet the extractor in the forward lines.

VB simply adds nearly zilch currently to our 22 and needs to be replaced give young Atkins a crack if his game is as good as those who have seen him play, I haven't.

In~ Lyons, Atkins,Cheney
Out~ wright, vb, Mackay (only saw the first half how was his last two?]

Very emotional last night and I think the showdown may be heated as the players go through from bewilderment to angry. Flyasone boys

I think you're being very unfair to Smith, it's one thing to criticise a fully fit player for underperforming but it's entirely different to expect him to perform at his best after sustaining two concussions in half a season. Concussions are one of those things that you can recover quickly enough to be at a level where you can play but the lingering effects can last for quite some time afterwards, and I honestly doubt that playing him in the SANFL is going to help or if we have the depth to play someone else in the meantime. I say we bite the bullet by being patient with him and use what little depth we do have to replace our bigger problems.

A question for those who have followed our reserves closely this year; what has Shaw's kicking been like?

Basically I'm just curious to know if that operation of his had any effect in this regard, since he had some nice attributes that could make him a handy player if not for that particular weakness.

He has been very good since returning. I think he has had 4 games in a row now too.

As for Smith, yes its a touch unfair but if he isn't up to it for any reason then we gotta move him around a bit. Trying him in the centre bounce might be an option.

Cheney comes straight back in if fit and takes Levers spot.

Out: VB, Mackay
In: Atkins, O'Brien

another emotional roller coaster dead ahead.

If Cheney is OK I'd like to see him come in for VB and push Mackay to a wing or HFF spot. Mackay has been poor but he's playing Jaenschs role which isn't his forte. Speaking of Jaenschs we miss his run and disposal something bad..

Why O'Brien? Would be too top heavy imo.

Think the likes of MacKay & Henderson may make way before lever when Cheney returns.

maybe we'd be top heavy, but sauce was so off last night and understandably so. But having said that, a chop out for the big fella might help him through a difficult time... we got smashed in the guts last night.

keep Lever up our sleeve for the future i reckon...

There was a good reason sauce struggled last night! Too top heavy with sauce, jj & O'Brien. It won't happen.

Lever plays unless he has a poor patch of form. Perfect for the Hoff.

I'm not so sure.

I think Martin is underrated, Mackay overrated.

Martin is tougher, better mark, more aggressive mindset, field kicking just as good but longer, gets more shots on goal (even when in mid/wing).
