Remembering a time when danster wanted us to fly Brown on a private jet a few hours before the game to play Port Adelaide.

Maybe Brown's form is him sulking over such mistreatment! Disgraceful by the club!

what's the worst that can happen? he gets outmarked at most contests like Brown currently does? How could JVR be worse? I think there's probably 50 country footballers that could currently perform better than Brown at the moment.

How bad does his form need to be where we start celebrating 10 touches, 5 marks and a goal.

There’s no need to exaggerate. Brown is battling but there clearly are not 50 country footballers who could play full forward at AFL level better than him.

It’s entirely possible for a young key position forward to go a full game touching the ball once or twice and not taking a mark. Last thing we need is JVR starting his career that way. If Brown is playing and taking the best defender it’s much less likely to happen.

I feel like the club has been really solid in managing our young players. Bowey, Bedford, Chandler, Turner etc. all seem to have made an impact and been up to the task when they've been given an "opportunity". For now I'm happy to trust the MC as far as JVR goes.

Yes every time one of these players talk they seem to have a very clear understanding of where they sit in the overall scheme of things and what they need to do in order to progress. I think Mark Williams has been a fantastic addition to the coaching group in this regard.

Agree. They've had to earn games and been ready for the step up to make an impact.

Oliver ruled out. Another Melbourne star misses time due to an 'accidental' hit from a Geelong player.

If it costs him the Brownlow and what is certain to be the best victory speech of all time, I'll be pissed

Come on your surely not thinking either this or Hawkins last year was deliberate.

That ends a very impressive consecutive games streak if Oliver has been ruled out. Will be interesting to see how our midfield functions without him.

Will be super intriguing to see if Goody goes for a like-for-like replacement in Dunstan, or sees it as an opportunity to mix things up in the onball division and give Sparrow, Harmes, even Kozzi and others more midfield time.

I'd prefer the latter but I am guessing it'll be the former.

It will be Dustan for sure, I can see it already. Goody is as predictable as his gameplan

Perfect chance to change shit up and bring someone like Laurie in, would be nice to have someone who can actually kick the ball in our forward half rather than bringing in another ball butcher.

I'm willing to give Dunstan the benefit, if he keeps it simple and only handballs from inside to outside it might not be that bad.

Hush TK, it fits my narrative

Selwood's one was far worse than Hawkins tbh, pretty ****ing reckless if you ask me to throw a leg like that at the ball in that situation.

we've got more than enough in and under types already in the side, desperately need some finishers on the outside.

Similar to how Bowey made a massive difference last year when he replaced Hunt, Laurie could do exactly the same for the forward half. Not going to know unless we actually give him a go tho.

Dunstan does nothing to move the needle whatsoever

Yeah I'm not saying don't bring Laurie in, I just mean Dunstan might actually play a decent role inside and help feed the blokes outside. Gawn could do more than anyone by tapping it to the outside instead of the rubbish he normally goes with.

Bringing in Dunstan wont solve anything imo. Just a like for like for the sake of it. We drastically need to improve our METHod from centre clearance first and foremost. Like you say, Gawn wins taps and we cant do shit with them, dont see how he magically has a connection to Dunstan when he doesn't Oliver.

It amazes me how much centre clearance we lose, we must be as predictable to opposition midfields as we are kicking long down the wing and into a forward pocket.

I'm not saying Dunstan solves anything, it's a team mentality. One bloke won't make any difference either way but im happy for Laurie to debut. I think we attack too much from the bounce, it's like they run set plays and if we get a bad bounce everyone's already on the move away from their opponent.
