Looking forward to seeing Lecca and Karps going head to head, cos it seems that one of them will be gone when JK returns. Like most on here I was hoping to see Partington in, but can see the rationale from the MC trying to find the right balance of yoof vs experience. Go the eagles!

Hoping Lecras boots 5 and finds some form, Priddis finds something and we dominate all day. This board absolutely revels in putting the boot into veterans who have bled blue and gold for a decade or more, and the few folk who are hoping "player x gets injured lel" for what ever reason should **** right off. Garbage form
Dunno about putting the boot in. Players we deem to be out of form seem to get the ride on their form past.
I get frustrated when a champ gets game after game when they don't deserve it. I get even shittier when there is nothing in the cupboard to replace them. Karps has shown he's doing well, better thans Leccas form. I hope Lecca is emergency along with Priddis.
Redden who has given me the shits this year had a good game and 'should' keep Priddis out. Should.
But we will know tomorrow I guess.
FWIW I love Priddis and have been a defender to the death for a while but this year I have stopped defending him.

I hope we can flat track Port. Get our confidence up with another win. Carn Eages!

Priddis is preferred. If you believe Simmo from last night, Pridda is a champion and you never here negative talk about him after a win.

Simmo needs to actually try engaging with some actual fans of the club rather than the circle jerk at team HQ.

Even though I'm against the team selections, I hope they never engage with supporters to make decisions.

We'd field about 5 players.

Not too many AFL head coaches are massively focused on fan engagement, are they?

In 2015 when we made the grand final we debuted Duggan, Nelson, Lamb, McInnes and Barrass. The first two played 12 and 11 games respectively and Duggan in particular might have played more but hurt his knee late in the year. Plus Sheed played 23 games in what was his second year on the list.
Some context:

1) The sub rule
Lamb played one game - as the sub. I'm sure we hadn't anticipated giving Lamb more than one quarter but Brown's injury meant he came on earlier. Duggan started as the sub in his first three games (was the sub a total of four times and was subbed off once). In his first three matches he played an average of less than one quarter game time. Nelson was also sub or subbed in two of his matches.

Without the sub rule I reckon we are more averse to blooding kids.

2) Necessity
Barrass only debuted because Mackenzie, Brown and McGovern were all injured. Tony Notte debuted in similar circumstances. Likewise McInness was played when Darling was injured. Whilst Barrass has now cemented his spot, Frase has only ever been played out of necessity.

3) Contender vs developing
We weren't really a contender (in the sense that I meant it in anyway) at the start of 2015 when Lamb, Nelson and Duggan debuted. We'd finished 13th and 10th the two seasons prior, lost two of the first three matches of the season and the MC must have had the green light to put development first. Lamb has not returned to the side despite now playing better footy.

In 2016 - well and truly contending now after GF finish - we debuted two players: Karpany (as emergency for one game) and Cole (two games). These two players were not selected again until after we had a mid-season losing streak and suddenly looked like not even making finals - the green light again given to developing the youngsters.

So, had we finished 2014 in the top 4, I strongly doubt we would have debuted Lamb, Duggan and Nelson at the start of the year - given our history of player development. Had Darling not missed 7 games with injury, I doubt we would have debuted McInness - especially given he was delisted a year later.

I'll give you Sheed, and I don't doubt they would have given Duggan and Nelson games eventually (they seem to be earmarked by the club), but when you take everything else into account, it's still much less than the number of players of other strong teams:

Players debuted 2016-17
Sydney 13
Geelong 10
Hawthorn 9
Adelaide 6
West Coast 3
GWS 7 (also due to necessity)

Lycett in to combat Ryder IMO

Petrie plays FF and gov goes back.

Guessing Wellingham, Schoey and Redden to miss

I'm thinking they might put Lycett at full forward with some ruck duties.. off the bench. To build him back into AFL touch. He played forward a bit at the East Perth game i saw..

Lecras should will miss to rest and hold hands with his bestie JK. If lack of form = not enough goals, okay.. but he is still in our best players.
Sharrod should rest as well. He looks banged up a fair bit.
Vardy is another who maybe is not certain with all that jabbing he's copping?
Cole will be out too. I'm not sure why everyone thinks he is outperforming? and he has to wait for his turn in the circle of life

Should be a game we can win without having to bring those guys in

Hutchy and Redden deserve to play. What's the deal with Josh Hill ? Can't imagine they'd list the Priddis on the ground and then he drops out? maybe "he just didn't get up in time" for the game. Will be the excuse.. one hopes.

Wouldn't at all be surprised.
Kids hungry as **** to play and gets overlooked last week especially when it was the perfect opportunity to play him ahead of Masten.
Sounds like ebert and stevens all over again. Who have performed at their new clubs.

Ebert played 76 games in 4 years so it's not as if he wasn't getting opportunities. He left because he wanted to return home to SA and play for a club he had strong family connections to

Stevens played 11 games from 2010-2012 which after his first season we played finals in the next two years so it was a hard side to crack into. Moved from the Bulldogs after 63 games in 4 years due to a lack of games there and has played just 4 of 14 games at the saints this year albeit he's missed some games due to injury. He's an ok player and would only be added to our list of whipping boys if he was still here

Until a month or so ago, Partingtons form wasn't strong enough to warrant selection and until a week ago had no genuine grievance for being overlooked

He was unlucky but there's no way he's been hard done by so let's not pretend he's been bashing the door down for weeks and weeks on end

Thats not what I said. I suggested that Simmo needs to engage with real fans if its genuinely his view that there is no negative talk about Priddis unless we have a loss. Thats just out of touch nonsense.

They should probably avoid the comments he made then. He asserted that there is only anti Priddis sentiment after losses. He's kidding himself or out of touch. If he's out of touch, but wants to make such comments, he should actually meet some fans.

Things aren't so black and white.

Hawthorn have fallen off a cliff and are in full rebuild mode.
GWS have high quality kids so will always have high debut numbers
Geelong doesn't have anything outside of Dangerwood so have been blooding kids along with trades to try and replace all of their recent retirees.
Sydneys number is quite impressive but they have had some good academy picks in there.

We've also brought in a number of mature players from other clubs which has cut into our draftee debut count.

When you extend it out to the last 6 years it's even worse
